Joe Hart Englands number one
Gareth Southgate has come out and backed him and said he is Englands best keeper despite his poor start to the season. Following an average season last year.
Oh well at least Heatons unlikely to get injured.

Unless he gets piles on that cold bench.
Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
Hart called up on past record not form.
Chalobah called up because he played for U21s. Proving he's giving youth a chance. No way he should be called up.

Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
What do you have to do to be dropped from the England football team, just as bad as the cricketers,we have to be more ruthless and get young hungry players, for the keeper as Pickford is injured, i would have played Butland in one of the games and possibly Heats in the other, same old boys network, i hoped Southgate would be different ly not.

Why would he be different? £4m a year and all you have to do is answer to a couple of dinosaurs and you're laffin'!

Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
I think the expectation was he would give more of the u21s a crack at the big time,i guess he picked Chalobah but apart from that it's predictable,England will waltz this group as usual, and then flop in a major tournament again, even reaching the QF seems beyond us now.starting_11 wrote:Why would he be different? £4m a year and all you have to do is answer to a couple of dinosaurs and you're laffin'!

To be perfectly honest, from everything I've heard in the media, Tom Heaton may as well not be there.

Out of the 4 keepers he selected, Hart is without doubt the worst, and by a bloody long way.
Gareth needs to give his head a shake.

Forget the heart that says Tom is England's no 1 the head and the stats say he is.Southgate was a media pick himself.A very mediocre player who became a very unsuccessful team manager ,who then was promoted to his level true level of incompetence despite achieving nothing.
He then picks the worst goalkeeper we have and useless Chalobah.
It's shame BFS was caught out.

Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
You can see an improvement in Tom's game from being involved in the England set up and that is by far the biggest benefit.
The games themselves are meaningless. Hart plays tonight. Is a virtual spectator. Clean sheet. Is picked for the next game. England qualify with ease. We come up against proper teams in the tournament itself. Hart (and others) found wanting. We crash out early. Draw for European qualifiers groups us with San Marino and Gibraltar. Repeat cycle.

Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
This basically says that it doesn't matter how well you perform, the senior old school players will always be first choice. Failing that it's anyone who played for the U21's when Southgate was there
Heaton has been consistently outstanding for the last 4 seasons. I can't remember the last time Hart had an outstanding game never mind a season.
There's no logical, statistical or sports based reason for this. The other keepers should be ahead of Hart as well so it's not just because Tom's face doesn't fit.
It's just ugly favouritism

Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
Conceded 10 so far hasn't he? 3rd choice at best
Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
"I believe he's our best goalkeeper at the moment," manager Gareth Southgate said.
If Southgate really thinks Hart is still our best option in goal he needs to walk away from the job. It's a clear bias, "jobs for the boys" scenario.
I'm not suggesting Heaton should start, but in my opinion the only choice Southgate has is to play either Tom or Butland. Hart has been very poor since the last Euros, very poor. You can't pick players on reputation alone. He's been a great keeper in the past, but he's always had an error in him. Recently those errors are occurring more regularly.

Just because Chalobah didn't set Burnley alight does not make him a poor player. He didn't fit our system and looked to all intents and purposes a panic loan in a really poor transfer window.Blackrod wrote:Hart called up on past record not form.

Teflon Joe is #1 again. Yet another reason to swerve the England team until the next manager.

I genuinely hope Hart makes a howler or 3 tonight, not so that we lose, just so that it is highlighted that he isn't the best. Again, not saying it should be Tom, but both him and Butland are better players and also in better form.

hart is a liability, heaton has never been that shambolic in his career as hart was in world cup, southgate is a t*t for sticking with him.
pity the england team is so crap as well, who'd want to be called up to play thesedays when they have long been a joke team.

Makes you wonder if Southgate actually watches any football if he still thinks Hart is better than Heaton.

Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
Southgate should boil his head.
1. Hart is number 1 keeper....even though a difficult season to date.
2. After 3 matches the others have not done enough to displace him. (About 2.5 seasons actually Gareth!)
3. He will have to be on his goes, as we have 2 up and coming keepers to challenge him.
What the #$@#? Have you dismissed the best keeper in England over 2 seasons, in favour of an existing fallible flapper, an injury returned who has yet to get going and a young shot saver who has much to learn?
Idiot.

It's the same, no matter who the "manager" is. I honestly don't believe Southgate picks the squad or the starting line up.

Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
Hart seems to play in the easy group games - but Heaton and Butland etc get game time against Spain and France - so when the World Cup comes and Hart is number one, England fall at the group stage yet again as we come up against half decent opposition.

We would loan him out until he disappears!

Re: Joe Hart Englands number one
The fact is Southgate got the job because no one else wanted it. His record with senior players at club level prove that. He did well with hungry kids who don't get into their club first teams. TBF Hart is the established keeper, with the experience - and he was far better than the previous challengers for his position. Southgate lacks the balls to push through the very players that offer something exciting and different in case it blows up in his face - not surprising with our media who like nothing better than failure.
The reason the Germans win competition after competition is they're ruthless and once there is a couple of years before the next tourney they clear out everyone despite reputations and look to having a young hungry team when it matters.... England ask Wayne Rooney to come back rather than take a chance.

All we are saying is give youth a chance.Wales brought a 17 year old on last night and he wins the game,Sanches who has just moved to Swansea is a regular Portuguese international , yet we persist with failed players, what me about England the other evening was the lack of energy and enterprise, if Chamberlain's a 40 million pound player god help us.
