Kolo Toure
I see that he is out of contract, a bit old and probably need getting back to fitness again,
But he brings a lot of Premier League experience and will provide backup if injuries to our centre backs occur.
I think he'll be good to have around until the end of the season?

Re: Kolo Toure
Chico Flores, Sebastian Bassong and Lescott at a push worth having a sniff around if we're that desperate.

Chico Flores also available, only 30 years old and always impressed at Swansea. Spanish clubs looking at him, maybe worth a punt but honestly thing SD is happy with his options.

Re: Kolo Toure
If Dyche is happy with only 3 centre halves then you have to question his sanity.
People can try and twist Taylor to make him sound like a centre half all they want but it doesn't make him a centre half. I've even seen people on this board say ward could be a centre half! Maybe at league one he could get away with it but we are playing in the premier league here. Don't forget that. Also don't forget how easy an ACL injury can happen.

Not of they are injured he won't
Re: Kolo Toure
But obviously he see's the likes of Charlie Taylor etc. and must feel confident they can fill in as and when required.summitclaret wrote:Not of they are injured he won't

They're all free agents, thus can be signed outside of the window.Vegas Claret wrote:transfer window is shut, we cannot sign anyone until January

still can't play until January = no point in signing them (afaik, happy to be corrected on that though)

Re: Kolo Toure
He does. He also has 3 goalkeepers vying for one position and they are all experienced in that position. The so-called cover at CB presumably involves Ward, Taylor and even Cork and none of them have experience in that position.Spijed wrote:He sees them every day in training.

Re: Kolo Toure
You're corrected. They're free agents, and free agents can be signed at any time. The transfer window closing prevents transfers from one club to another, it does not prevent signing of people who were out of contract on 31st August.Vegas Claret wrote:still can't play until January = no point in signing them (afaik, happy to be corrected on that though)

Re: Kolo Toure
If people are so worried about ACL's lets go for the whole paranoia fix and assume all of the 24 named in the squad are going to suffer the same season ending injury within the next week or so.

Re: Kolo Toure
Expecting a player with no PL experience to step up out of position seems like a big ask to me.Spijed wrote:But obviously he see's the likes of Charlie Taylor etc. and must feel confident they can fill in as and when required.
By going with only 3 centre backs we have made ourselves a hostage to fortune, and when you do that, fortune has an unhappy knack of making you pay.
Like with Marney.

Got the pace of a rocking horse but then so has Tarks.
Lescott now you are having a laugh.Finished when he went to Villa.
We are fine as we are .If Sean didn't agree he'd have signed a cb

Re: Kolo Toure
Maybe there was no cb within budget that Sean Dyche felt would improve the squad.......
Think he's in the best place to judge....UTC

Re: Kolo Toure
Does anyone on here really believe that Kevin Long is better than Kolo Toure?

Question Sean Dyche's sanity? Be quiet you idiot.

Re: Kolo Toure
At some stage we will go 2 up front, perhaps the plan is 3 at the back, hence the Defour & Cork protection roles.
At that stage we will have too many Centre halves.

Re: Kolo Toure
We just need somebody who can do the job, a player with vast amount of experience doesn't need speed, he has the intelligence and just needs to be fit when called upon.Woodleyclaret wrote:Got the pace of a rocking horse but then so has Tarks.
Someone like Toure is just there for the odd game in case of an injury or suspension, just to play 90 mins while the management change the tactics for the games afterwards.
But having a wise head down at Gawthorpe can only help the likes of Long, Tarks and Mee.

Dyche has made Mee and Keane much much better than they were when they first started, nothing whatsoever to indicate that he can't do the same with the rest

Kevin Long should already be as good as Franco Baresi.
Re: Kolo Toure
Indeed, Charlie Taylor & Michael Keane could be England's central defenders for years to come!Vegas Claret wrote:Dyche has made Mee and Keane much much better than they were when they first started, nothing whatsoever to indicate that he can't do the same with the rest
