You shouldn't be allowed to change managers when the player windows are closed. Fingers crossed Sean will see there is much still to be done at Burnley.

Re: De Boer sacked
How good a manager are you going to attract if you fire them after 4 games? What better assurance can we have that Dyche won't give up this job for one with such a trigger happy chairman?
Sacking Dr Boer so early is insane. Especially after such a good performance.

is that one slot down for relegation...? or do we think Hodgson can turn it around...? Personally I think that Hodgson will be able to get them out of the mire with the players they have.

Not at Burnley, the club needs to evolve to the pedigree of manager it employs. It might be hard to take but we still need a manager who could keep us in the league - such as the likes of Sam Allardyce, Tony Pulis, Mark Hughes at the moment.LoveCurryPies wrote:If Sean did accept the Palace job....would Frank de Boer be an acceptable replacement?

Their support didn't turn on him though, did they? They're a decent bunch, they could see they'd had a tough start but there was no booing. They've obviously got a lot more patience than the chairman.

that should see them in pretty serious trouble.... next four or five games to settle in.... probably no points resulting given their fixtures. Must have gone top of the Relegation candidates.

Re: De Boer sacked
Talk sport reporting Woy will get the job in the next 24 hours. I hope Palace go down this season. If they were to sack him and get Dyche for instance then fine is an upgrade, not that he would go btw. But to replace him with Hodgeson is laughable. How he could be in any Chairmans thoughts is beyond me. Am I right in thinking Dougie Freedman is sporting director? If Parish is head of recruiting these failures then he wants to take a long look in the mirror. Shocking

When you've had Pulis, Warnock, Pardew & Allardyce as your last four managers, I just don't understand why you would then move for De Boer.

The way Palace played yesterday (after the 3rd minute) they didn't look like a relegation team - mid-table, same as Clarets.Rick_Muller wrote:is that one slot down for relegation...? or do we think Hodgson can turn it around...? So, new manager starts with Soton followed by ManU, ManC and Chelsea. Do they get rid again if they get no points from those 4 games?

Re: De Boer sacked
its all on a knife edge, even for us, lose a manager like dyche and it seems unlikely there'll be a suitable replacement that could keep us on course
Palace owners are insane, he's not had any time to stamp his mark on their set up. I hope he pops up elsewhere in the game with a good position soon.
Definately looked a lot better side against us than previous games, football is mad at times.

Re: De Boer sacked
Palace just confirmed it as below.
Crystal Palace Football Club have this morning parted company with Frank de Boer.
We would like to thank Frank for his dedication and hard work during his time at the Club.
A new manager will be appointed in due course and we wish Frank the very best of luck for the future.
There will be no further comment at this time.

Re: De Boer sacked
madness, sheer madness and now hope they do go down, would think best they can have after 8 matches is 3 points, so if we can get a few more points, say 6 in the next 4 matches after 8 we will be 10 clear of CP, take quite a bit of catching.
think they can be a good team on paper but are rudderless at the moment, how will they feel facing Southampton as a "team"

Re: De Boer sacked
just looked at their fixtures...! "baton down the hatches lads, theres a storm coming...". After the must win against Soton, they do have very difficult games against ManU, ManC and Chelsea - after that - a potentially difficult trip to St James Park and then home against West Ham. They could be pointless by Halloween...!

hodgson is perfect for them, they're an average set of players and his repetitive, drill-based training will make them solid.
they'll be like his fulham side.

Simple enough down there ..
The tale is wagging the dog ..
Players and manager didn't understand each other hopefully it will get worse before it gets better

Re: De Boer sacked
Barmy decision. They played well yesterday and the players were clearly playing for the manager. He also had the fans support. Should have been given a few more games at least. If Dann had scored he would probably still have a job. Fine margins.

Re: De Boer sacked
I'm assuming you mean De Boer - SD fairly marched off the field by the CFS with no acknowledgement to the crowd. You could see he wasn't best pleased by the cack the lads had just served up unless he was embarrassed by the classless "You're getting sacked in the morning" jibe aimed at a fellow professional.Steve1956 wrote:To be honest he knew yesterday his time was up,he never even acknowledged their support.
Dyche will be going nowhere and if even he did lose his marbles and joined that shower of """, who would we get ?
De Boer ? Gi' oer !

Re: De Boer sacked
Pretty obvious why in my opinion. To from that style to something more fluid and exciting.ClaretTony wrote:When you've had Pulis, Warnock, Pardew & Allardyce as your last four managers, I just don't understand why you would then move for De Boer.
The two problems being though that not all of the board were behind him and he wasnt given money or control to bring in the players that would suit that style.
Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. It will never work if they want a change of style so drastic without backing the manager.
Its no coincidence though that most clubs big sam leaves get relegated straight after he goes.

Palace actually have, on my opinion, players of decent quality. If they had decent defenders they should be a mid table premier league team. Sac
At least De Boet will have a windfall coming his way.
