New iPhones released

Post by Zesty » Tue Sep 12, 2017 8:22 pm

What do we think?

The iPhone X looks good but that price is ridiculous !

Due an upgrade and I'm actually stuck between another iPhone or the newest Samsung, due to the memory avaliability and superior camera on the Samsung.

I don't get this 'need' to have a new gadget. Maybe I am old school, but if it ain't broke; why fix it?
My phone does everything I need it to do. What phone's are supposed to do. Make and receive calls.

Well my iPhone 5s has recently cracked slightly in the corner. It's still fully operational, but can't see it lasting more than a few months, should i drop it again.

I got it outright and thus, am on an old contract that has rolled over many years in succession)

I pay £12 a month +vat for unlimited texts, unlimited internet and 300 minutes.

I don't want to get tied into a new contract with the latest iPhone but would be keen to get a 6 or 7... possibly refurbished.

What would be a fair price for a 6 or 7 refurbished iPhone and does anyone know anywhere reliable I could pick myself one up?

Thanks

Got to say £1000 for a phone is mind boggling.

I'm changing the battery on my mrs Iphone 6 tomorrow which still works with her watch and makes phone calls just as well as the new Iphone. The kit has cost me £25.

A moment of silence for Iphone 9 though.

Sticking with my 7 Plus.

Bought it outright and have an £18 per month deal.

The price of the X is frightening, don’t get my wrong it looks nice but the price is absurd.

Tempted by the new watch however.

Meh

Them that have more money than sense will buy whatever Apple make regardless of price and value.

Them who have a bit more about them will do their research and get the most appropriate phone for their needs. That may well be an iphone but probably won't be.

"New iPhones released"

Not yet. They've been unveiled, but not released. You can pre-order them though.

I bought my daughter a nearly new iphone 6s almost 12 months ago.
It cost me £400. She recently factory reset the phone and cannot remember her iCloud details. Apple won't help because we didn't buy it directly from them.
I will never buy an apple product again

I just skipped all the start bit, and purely vowed never buy an apple product from the off.
And amazingly I'm still alive to tell the tale.

Just done a bit of research into the X and it looks like a copy of the Galaxy S8 but for twice the price. They go on about the 'infinite display' and facial recognition as though they're the first to come up with those features.

The display on the iPhone X is daft. The top section is completely cut out so you've got a slight indent to the left and right. Its like the designers and the hardware guys have never met.

Stop complaining, you tart.

pre·or·der: order (an item of merchandise) before it is available, with the understanding that it will be shipped later.

That's what you'll be doing - ordering something that will be shipped to you at a later date. You can't buy it yet and have it delivered to you now.

You order it and it will be delivered upon release.
There's absolutely no need to to say pre-order.

So you mean a bit like saying 'There's absolutely no need to say', when 'There's no need to say' is the same?

Hmm. Order is the same as pre-order. You order something because its not available at present, or it has to be delivered.

I don't pre-order engineering parts for manufacture, I order them.

You can order one now from Apple, you just won't get it until its been made.

In fact you can't do anything as there's no option on the Apple website. I cant even order never mind pre-order or even pre-pre-order!

You don't pre-order with your waiter do you?

Apple don't use the word pre-order on their website for the series 3 watch, its just; Order 15.09 Available 22.09. However with the new iPhone 8 its pre-order 15.09 Available 22.09.

That's because the food is in stock. It's ready to give to you cold if you like. You don't have to wait. Just tell them you want some frozen chips bringing out right now and you'll get them.

The iPhone 8 isn't available. Warm, or cold. That's what pre-order means - to order something

'pre' = before

You're ordering something before it's available. Hence the word 'pre'.

You can't actually do anything though on the Apple site? Unless the word pre-order means selecting all your options and then sit staring at the screen for a week!

You don't pre-order a meal in a restaurant. Sure all the constituent parts are available, but its not ready until it arrives on your table.

Same with a car, you don't pre-order a new car, you order it and then it gets delivered.

In any case I'm going pre-order an iPhone 12.

Again how can you pre-pay for something. Its either paid or its not? Is there a method paying before paying that we're unaware of?

This s**t is getting serious.

I think they've regressed with the latest iPhone. Fingerprint technology works, FaceID is shite. New phone looks like any newish android phone. £1k is daft but then the fanboys will lap it up.

I have an s8 and its the best device ive ever had. Luckily its thru work so only costs me 30 a month

People are tho goin mad for this X. They are like Apple sheep. Some of my customers will be looking at a huge upfront payment or upwards of 75 quid a month tariff

I don't know if it was on here, but I saw somewhere the big question about fingerprint technology. When someone hacks your password, you change your password; when they hack your fingerprint record, what do you do?
