Alex MacDonald. I swore he was a good 'un when he was first on the first team fringes...

Paul Crabtree from Barrowford. Left for Australia to play for Newcastle Jets after the John Bond overhaul which included Lee Dixon and Marcus Phelan. Paul was a quality player.

Lee Dixon played 4 games for us. He looked like a lad who would run through brick walls for Burnley by Mr J Bond thought differently and sent him on his way.

That's it four games and, by his own admission, not the best of attitudes. Where did Lee Dixon go then? Chester, placed 92nd in the Football League so there wasn't a clamour for his services, not even on a free. He did well at Chester, they were 91st when he left when he got another free. Then it was Bury, then Stoke where he started to make a name for himself and that led to Arsenal.

I'm not sure how long Lee was at Burnley. He wasn't in the youth team but came on trial through his dad Roy who was a mate of our chief scout Gordon Clayton. Roy Dixon & Gordon Clayton had been reserve team goalkeepers at Man City and Man United in the 1950s.

He played for Great Harwood too I think.

This is our vice-chairman in his playing days. I once used the pic in an article and asked him if he was happy with me using it. He was delighted, he said it made him look hard.

(Another one...surname Graham ??, I think. Was an unused sub away at Gilligham under Ternent. Don't recall his first name, may even have the surname wrong - but it definitely happened !)

Could well be ? Earl Davis is another one from that era that made the bench but no further. Think he played for Southport for a while.

David Collin – see he was mentioned earlier. Apparently someone’s mate who worked on Champ Man. They had a history of adding mates or even themselves in the early version on the Amiga (I think Barnet had a few of them playing).

Paxton was always a keeper who was very good in Champ Man, Maylett and Shandran too.
