I can't get a VPN on my firestick so what I did was put a VPN on my computer/tablet. Watch the stream through google chrome on sportsmania website and then stream it to my tv using a chromecast stick which I bought before the firestick.

I watched the whole match through with ipv on sm. I picked a Dutch ip address if it helps.

How are you getting it on your TV, firestick? There is an issue with vpns on them that they appear to be working but not all traffic is directed through them.

I intalled IP vanish from the store on the firestick itself. Alwsys connect to netherlands and the chart shows traffic. When i revert back to kodi no links work on SM

I have a 3 year old version of kodi. Could that be it?

Last season I just logged on to Sportsmania looked at stream calendar and then just tapped on to SkyNet or whatever and hey presto got the stream no problem without any fiddling or farting about.
Now this season I have not managed to watch any of our games
So what has changed and why?

Mel, I believe the Premier League streams in particular are being blocked - hence why sportsmania are currently offering the service for free to existing customers.

The way around this is a VPN - which is fairly easy to set up on a laptop but someone else would be more suitably placed to advise you how to install one onto a fire stick if that's what you use.

Unfortunately you have to pay monthly to use a VPN, although most seem to offer a free trial.

Opera VPN on playstore is free and works well for me on mobdro.
Don't know if it would be the same for SM though.
Set to Netherlands.

IP Vanish is £62 a year and SM £52 a year.

I can get midweek stuff without changing IP but no chance at the weekend, it simply doesn't work.

It's still less than you would pay for a decent awayday in London.

I'm having the same issue as Cutsy. VPN on and set to Netherlands. Interestingly though when I do a speed test through SM it is my home IP that shows rather than the server set on my VPN?

Long shot, I know, but does anyone know how to set up a VPN on a PS4? I get a better performance when I stream through the PS4's web browser than I do by mirroring my MacBook onto my tv screen.

Someone mentioned setting a VPN up on their router? I don't know how they did it, but could be something to look into.

Cheers. I set up Express vpn on my laptop and this came with instructions how to set up with the PS4. I changed some settings on my PS4 and tweaked the router firewall rules and it initially worked with my PS4, then after about 5 minutes the streams wouldn't load again.

Seems to be a definite fault with Kodi on Firesticks.

My pal came round for the Liverpool game yesterday as he couldn't get his working. We tested it and couldn't get it working at my place either.

I run my kodi through an Nvidia shield downstairs and a Fire Tv box upstairs and neither were affected, both giving great streams. Also tested my old firestick and couldn't get it working either.

I wouldn't go so far as investing in an Nvidia shield but a Fire TV box is a reasonable price.

One thing i noticed on kodi....make sure that you have thedate and time set correctly as this ca affect things.....if you do a reboot the date/time may go back to the date the box was set up.

I have a subscription with SM. I use my desktop Mac to access the site and used to go straight to the steams page, click on the relevant link and watch my beloved Burnley. I do not use KODI. Recently, I have not been able to do this as I do not have a VPN. (As you know, a message on SM says you need a VPN to access Premier League.)

On Saturday morning I subscribed to a VPN, set the country list to France, signed in to SM as normal, and still could not watch the Burnley game (nor any other PL games)! I tried from different countries, but still no go. I shut down, restarted, ensured the VPN was active, etc.

I eventually 'watched' on a stuttering cricfree stream.

Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.

Having same issue here.

I have a 1st gen fire stick and use Kodi + SM but I think it's time to buy something a bit better as it's not just the footy that can be a bit glitchy.

Happy to build it (software) myself. Any recommendations for equipment that cost less than £150??

I suppose it needs to be something I can put a vpn on to get around the issues reported above. I don't have a clue how to put a vpn on the router.

Get a fire tv box. Much better. 80 quid tops. If you really want the dogs ******** get a Nvidia shield. Around 150.

This is strange. I also checked SM's F'b'k page for other similar messages (and, hopefully, responses as to how to fix), but drew a blank. If I find out any more I will share on here. Maybe you could do the same?

You need to check sportsmania's forum, as they have now shut down all support on their facebook page.

As for the VPN's, sometimes you need to try a different country. With IPvanish, I tend to use Netherlands, Denmark or Belgium.
MattBFC wrote:Happy to build it (software) myself. Any recommendations for equipment that cost less than £150??
As Ghandi has said, the FireTV Box is your cheapest bet and is easy to add the IPvanish app on to. I had no issues with mine at the weekend. If you can push the boat out I would definitely go for the Nvidia shield though - easy to install Kodi, Ipvanish and had perfect performance all weekend on all the PL games.

Thanks Darthlaw. On Saturday I tried France and Iceland but with no success, unfortunately. I've now hooked up to The Netherlands – hopefully this will work for me.

When I have time I will search the SM forum.

I'm having major problems with IPVanish on my Windows 10 Laptop.
I get a consistent 37mb/sec without the VPN, with the VPN it can drop as low as 1.5mb/sec.
I've tried different servers/countries, different protocols and ports, and then, usually after a restart, it will work at 33mb/sec.
Very strange indeed. I'm usually quite good at working through these types of problems but this one has got me scratching my head a bit.
