Long 5 - meh
Taylor 7 - did really well, got caught off for the first goal though.
Arfield 4 - tried hard but offered nothing.
Hendrick 5 - not his usual self but understandable, got some good minutes under his belt.
Westwood 7- thought he was very good.
JBG 7 - constantly offered a threat.
Barnes 4 - didnt even realise he was playing.
Vokes 4 - ball didnt stick

Wood 6- better than Vokes, plus 1 for the pen.

Can't be arsed doing ratings, but I want to say I thought Bardsley was superb backwards and forwards and looked well up for it, easily the best player on the pitch.

"Bardsley, the best player on the pitch, gets a 3?"

I don't personally think he went to the game. I reckon he's just pulled some random numbers out of a hat to see if he was accurate or not.

No way in hell was Bardsley the best player on the pitch...but he also wasn't a 3!

Pope - 6
Bardsley - 7
Long - 6
Tarkowski - 6 - silly penalty to give away
Taylor - 6
Arfield - 5
Westwood - 7
Hendrick - 5
JBG - 6
Barnes - 3 - both strikers were totally ineffective tonight.
Vokes - 3

Brady - 6
Wood - 6
Cork - 6

Not a good night, can't believe I'm saying this but tonight was crying out for Nakhi Wells. We need something different up top at times. On to Huddersfield now.

Pope - 6 nowt special
Bardsley - 6 - not MOM for me. Yeah he did ok but also had some dodgy lunges in, and seemed to want to shoot (and miss) too much
Long - 6 - ok
Tarkowski - 7 didn't see the pen properly but I thought he was generally solid
Taylor - 6 - tried but maybe a bit anxious
Arfield - 5 - not much today
Westwood - 7* - played well
Hendrick - 5 - another not much today
JBG - 6 - showsfdlashes but still not the best end products yet
Barnes - 6 - some decent lay offs second half
Vokes - 5 not a good one for Sam

Brady - 6 +1 for goal
Wood - 6 more effective than Sam
Cork - 7 - just looks settled all the time

Lot of huffing and puffing (until they tired in extra time) but not much in the final third in particular to be happy about

A long night, fair play to Leeds, they were organised and disciplined, which is all they needed to be to keep a disjointed Burnley performance at bay. Thought Defour should have played extra time, crying out for a bit of quality to open things up.
Pope 6
Bardsley 6

I thought we played some excellent football at times tonight! Shame about the result though
Pope- 5 - in hindsight not a lot to do
Bardsley- 8 mom
Long-7 that pass phwoaaaar! Beauty
Tark-6
Taylor- 5 struggled tonight
Arfield- 7
Westwood- 8 thought he was excellent!
Hendrick- 6
Johan- 5
Vokes- 6
Barnes- 5

Cork- 7 love this lad!!
Brady- 7 for the goal
Wood- 7 made a difference
Defour... bit pointless bringing him on unless he was going to take a penalty...

Wouldn't worry about the game too much.. played some good football for a lot of the game and the match could have turned out a lot differently if we'd taken chances! Move on to Huddersfield!

Thought their number 2 CB I think was excellent!

Pope 6 - very little to do
Bardsley 8 (mom) - great performance
Tarkowski 6 - decent performance but gave away the pen
Long 7 - pretty solid
Taylor 6 - looked tasty first half but faded badly
Gudmunsson 7 - some great touches
Westwood 8 - really good performance
Hendrick 6 - took a bit to settle
Arfield 6 - should have scored
Vokes 6 - worked hard but not happening for him
Barnes 5 - not really at the races and sloppy in possession - mistake led to their first

Brady 6 - hot and cold but a great free kick
Wood 6 - left a bit isolated later on but cool for the pen
Cork 7 - really bossed the middle

At half time |i thought it had "West brom" written all over it and so it turned out. First half we should have been out of sight and from half time Leeds really didn't have anything in mind other than penalties other than the first 10 mins after Sakho came on. they created very little at all. We finished nothing but should have won comfortably. Hey ho.

Seem to be very mixed views on here...

Pope - 6 - Nowhere near on any of the penalties and through the legs on the first goal
Beardsley - 6 - several ridiculous shots on goal and could have been sent off
Tarks - 6 - looked sophisticated for much of the night but both penalty situations show the challenge he faces and the arguing with the referee didn't make sense to me
Long - 7 - generally thought he had a good game. Not at fault for the goals, made the best pass of the evening
Taylor - 6 - looked promising going forward but clearly caught out for the first goal
JBG - 7 - Our main attacking threat
Hendricks -6 - seemed to struggle to assert his authority on the game
Arfield - 5 - very disappointing after recent performances
Westwood - 6 - solid throughout but really wasn't sure whether he was trying to play the Cork holding role or the Defour creative role?
Vokes - 5 - Not at the races tonight
Barnes - 5 - see Vokes
Cork - 7 - showed some real quality when he came on
Wood - 6 - showed why he may get picked ahead of Vokes

Overall, very disappointing, so excited by what SD has done, but our cup record under him is awful.

Atmosphere was as flat as a pancake in the first half. Got the distinct impression neither our fans or team were taking this seriously and to be honest, we shouldn't. Leeds had their cup final bless 'em.
Hard to give most any higher than 6. We looked disinterested. It had all the feeling of a pre-season friendly for me.

Poor/disinterested, take your pick. Missed a fair few chances to bury them but all in all the entire evening was a damp squib. At least Westwood, Brady etc looked up for a game.

Bardsley 5 took the wrong option every time, did he have a shoot on sight policy? Constantly fouled, could have seen red.
Tarkowski 4 had a mare, gave away a pen, then missed 1. Thinks he is Bobby Moore at times. Defend first please.
Long 6
Taylor 6
Arfield 6
Westwood 6
Hendrick 5
Gudmundsson 6 got better as the game went on
Vokes 5 turns like a bus, gave the ball away, was kept quiet by a fullback filling in at CB, Bardsley was more of a threat than him
Barnes 6 thought he did ok, is better against defenders who don't like a scrap.

Brady 7 1 for the goal
Wood 6
Cork 7 class act

Playing 442 with 2 target men means getting to the dead ball line, as well as putting in plenty of crosses to test their makeshift back line. We did neither.
Think it highlights what we all already knew.
CB
Winger
Number 10 needed
If the stand ins can't dispose of a Leeds 2nd string at home, it hardly fills you with confidence for the premier league. Don't think a single player gave Mr Dyche a selection headache.
Let's just hope we can get a positive result and performance Saturday, or last night will have been a waste.

Pope 6-Not a great deal to do in 120 minutes to be honest.
Bardsley 8-Thought he was outstanding
Long 6-Slotted in well most of the time
Tarkowski 7-Excellent the the most part ubisliable to lose his man.
Taylor 5-First time I've seen him and to be honest I was disappointed. Maybe the stick he received affected him.
Gudmundsson 7-Always looked a threat
Westwood 7-Played really well.
Hendrick 4-Poor and no impact on match. Should have been taken off a long time before he was
Arfield 6-Not Scotties greatest fan but I think he played well and was surprised when he was subbed.
Vokes 4-Love Sam but it pains me to say it at times he can be very sluggish.
Barnes 5-Improved once Wood came on for me

Brady 5-and an extra point for the sublime free kick
Wood 6-looked a threat and was brave and professional enough to want to take the pen in normal time.
Cork 7-Should have been on for Hendrick from the start.

I thought Leeds were pretty shite to be honest, created very little, our final ball and positioning let us down otherwise it would have been game over.

Pope - 6. Could have done better with the 1st goal from where I was sat, not seen it back yet to say if that's harsh or not. Didn't get near any of their well taken penalties.
Bardsley - 7. Good game, some decent tackling and tried going forward.
Long - 5. Just not good enough.
Tarkowski - 5. Gave away a pen, was generally OK defensively but was trying too much.
Taylor - 6. Some of his crosses should have had a player on the end of them, put them in the right place, was caught out of position for their 1st goal.
Arfield - 5. Kept drifting into the middle giving no outball to Taylor, wasn't a great night for him.
Westwood - 7. Not a bad game for him, generally kept the ball well.
Hendrick - 5. Crap return to the side for him, he was useless the 1st 45 and didn't get much better in the second half.
Gudmundsson - 6. Grew into the game, worked his balls off. Final ball let him down.
Vokes - 5. Did nothing of note.
Barnes - 5. See Vokes.

Brady - 7.
Wood - 6.
Cork - 7.

Should have won easily in normal time, but missed far too many chances and took the wrong option.

I don't like commenting on the ratings, but anyone who gave Bardsley a "3" needs to get a seat facing the pitch. Anyone who gave Barnes more than a "5" needs to look more at what strikers are supposed to do as well. Disappointing, but our overall play was good, just annoying that we couldn't score.

Pope 6 - got to do better with their only shot to be fair
Bardsley 8* - him and JBG looked our best outlet all night
Tarks 6 - -1 for the penalty
Long 6 - struggled a bit to be honest
Taylor 7 - faded really badly though extra time
JBG 8 - a threat all night
Hendrick 6 - good to get 90 mins under his belt
Westwood 7 - good on the ball
Arfield 7 - ok
Barnes 5 - one of the games where you wonder how he gets in to the team
Vokes 5 - as Barnes

Subs

Wood 6 - good penalties, but has to do a bit more, especially against a knackered side in extra time
Brady 7 - great free kick
Cork 7 - did well

Ah well, but you can't help feeling that its a chance missed

I don' think I've seen Westwood have a poor game for us yet. He's extremely effective in what he does. His positional sense and reading of the game is good, he breaks things up, and does the simple things well.
I think this is why Dyche signed him, and he was one our better players last night.

The 4 subs rule for a game going into extra time was introduced last season in the FA Cup from the 6th round onwards and adopted by the Football League this season for their cup games.

Certainly don't understand that. Westwood can count himself unfortunate not to be in the league team right now. Looked really good last season and what bits we've had from him this season have been good too.

Pope 6 not much to do
Bardsley 7 played well going forward, adequate cover if needed
Tarkowski 6 played ok
Long 6 would rather he was 4th choice but adequate
Taylor 5 Now I know why folk want him on the wing. Has a deal to learn about defending
Gudmundsson 7 best game this season, hope he can build on it
Hendrick 7 Very rusty to start but got much better, the game was a good run out for him
Arfield 7 Posed a threat.
Westwood 8 Played really well. Again shows we have plenty of cover in midfield for Cork and defour
Barnes 4 too much time trying to win free kicks
Vokes 5 under par right now. He will play better

Wood 5 hard to assess as crossing was poor
Brady 5 Enigma. Has so much talent, scored a great goal but approach play was poor
Cork 6 Not his best game but tried hard

overall there was some nice play in build up play but the final ball into the box rarely cleared the first defender which meant the strikers saw little in the way of opportunities

On the plus side a good run out for fringe players. Thought Bardsley, Long, Westwood and Arfield will have benefitted and proved that they can step up. Message was not all at once

No mate, I watched it. And I watch him most weeks, he takes risks and either looks class, or gets caught ( several times already this season ) I prefer defenders that defend.

Certainly nearly cost us the game conceeding a needless penalty, then went on to take a poor penalty. Didn't cover himself in glory IMO.

I wouldn't class Westwood or Arfield as fringe players they will get plenty of Premier League game time this season.
