Blair's father-in-law - Cherie Blair's dad.

I saw him and his daughter Cherie Blair in the Old Co-Op Cafe in Todmorden(Tony was a Tod resident) about a month ago. Tony was looking very frail but seemed to be happy enough having lunch with one of his daughters.

And not forgetting he was Mr Elsie Tanner for a short time before Pat Phoenix passed away.

I thought a Man City centre half had died.

I'm not sure Tony Booth ever played for Man City.
I suspect that you are mixing up Tommy Booth and Tony Book - both of same era.

I used to like Till Death us do part, still do. Some of Booths rants with Alf were top drawer.

Often seemed very realistic, probably due to him and Mitchell not always getting on.

85 is not to be scoffed at. Thanks for the memories, Tony.

I met him in 2005. He had been to appear in the British Shakespeare Company's summer UK tour. Sadly, during rehearsals it became apparent something was very wrong because he couldn't remember his lines. It was a deeply sad time for both Tony and his wife and he resigned from the tour. But he was a lovely, charming old guy.

Not sure Cherie and her mother saw him in the same light.

Told me he smoked pot in number 10 and I know he used it for chronic pain he had from the scars on his legs from the severe burns he suffered in a house fire-whether he used it for non-medicinal reasons, I didn't ask.
His best role on TV was with Alf in Till death us do part IMO. As others have posted his views were replicated in real life.
