Later With Jools Holland

Post by Chobulous » Wed Sep 27, 2017 8:46 am

Back again last night. Liam Gallagher looked and sounded like he had just turned up and plugged in no prep. This was very good however

Thats cause he's just spent the whole of the summer doing festivals. Saw him at Leeds this year and thought he delivered a very professional performance.

His Reading set wasn't bad either by all accounts.

Still think he's a manc yob though, who needs to grow up a bit

I find Liam Gallagher pretty cringeworthy precisely because he's still doing the whole Manc yob thing and he's mid 40s, I generally have to turn over whenever I see him in interviews.

The guys brilliant at what he does. By that I mean ripping off his fans and selling them meaningless crap.

It's the car crash what was Beady Eye all over again.

Liam Gallagher’s keyboard player at the minute is Christian Madden from The Uptown Band, The Earlies and Ofay (amongst many other acts). A Burnley lad and Claret fan.

The old Oasis v Blur debate was a close call, but if you compare what the Gallagher's have produced since in comparison to Albarn then it's quite obvious where the real talent lies.

Liam is a top man and this was a decent performance in my view - although some technical issues with guitarist changing pickups in Wall of Glass and his bridge pick up was too quiet in relation to his other pick up - or vice versa. If a new band had churned this up we would all be drooling ( well I would be). Liam is what he is - top value, funny and a nice bloke, just not very intellectual. I love watching him and listening to him. His recent interview with that intellectual music journalist in Hampstead was hilarious. His BBC iplayer France trip had me in f****g stitches . I reckon his own songs are quite good.

Any comments on Elise Legrow?

That's the good thing about this show, every so often you get someone new who is really good.

All I will say about Liams performance Is,imo it wasn't the band's finest hour. The band wasnt anywhere near tight and It wasn't helped by the appalling sound quality. There was no depth to the drums or bass and Liams vocal was too far down in the mix meaning it left him constantly straining to be heard.

Saying that though I enjoyed LCD Soundsystems track "tonite". Their American Dream album is one of the stand out albums of the year for me

Gallagher's voice is shot and his band are rubbish. There's an army of people who'll lap up whatever he does though, so he keeps doing it.

He's not daft.

Liam hasn't had a voice since the Be Here Now tour. It didn't help him putting his mic 94ft in the air. I see Drew was on base, former babyshambles member. Now they were a band.
