Lancashire Cricket

Post by tybfc » Thu Sep 28, 2017 11:48 am

Congratulations to Lancs on finishing runners up in the first division of the County Championship.

They won their final game this morning easily and have made two great signings for next season both for the team and the coaching sides.

The Premier League Club of the North of England.

Fully agree ty but can't help thinking that the 4 day game played mainly in April/Sept has been poor this year. Only 3 batsmen scored 1000 runs I think, all at Surrey. No wonder England can't find any new talent.

Alex Davies of Lance has over 1000 First Class runs this season.

Wonderful achievement. Just think that they've only ever finished higher once in your lifetimes.

We were devastated last year when we missed out on a 3rd championship in a row on the last day of the season and good old tybfc starts a thread to celebrate 1st loser. Wow.

The one thing bedfords is that we are heading in the right direction having won promotion - you don't seem to be.

It''s quite an interesting last day with the relegation (Hants or Middlesex) and promotion (Notts or Nhants) issues still undecided.
At the moment it looks like Hants are struggling to get a win & favourites to go down (they were lucky last year with the Durham deduction anyway so cant complain). Notts look good for the draw which would keep them above Northants (whatever Nhants do) I think.

As per above, Lancs have upped expectations for 2018 with a very decent effort this year + the new arrivals.

Fair point well made and Yorkshire will today have avoided relegation by two or three points. Have no money. Have a second rate ground and now it seems a second rate team.

I see the sun is shining.

Not quite, Davies has 916 runs according to the BBC.

It was Atherton that mentioned it yesterday as an after thought from naming the other 3.

Although he said First Class runs, I just presumed that bish bash bosh cricket didn't count.

Well done to the Lancs. Hopefully one better next year. By the way, if Lancs don't win it, Yorkshire are my 2nd team. I would sooner see the Yorkie Clarets celebrating than the southerners. Tin hat on!

Reading the match report earlier, seems it was a hell of a final over to secure second spot, too.
