The middle aisle in Aldi
The middle aisle in Aldi
Is there a more tempting but utterly disapointing place on earth? Yesterday I was tempted again. Wife buying the food so I went for a browse up down looking smirking thinking why the F would you want one of them ? Then thinking hang on you might in fact you really do need one how have I lived for so long without a small frying pan that cooks one egg from the Croston range stick it in the trolley love dont argue we need one. This morning realising my cooker just pushes heat up and around it whilst my bacon and sausge cooks to perfection in an adjoining pan with a gap for my eggs I have put it away in my attic on the Aldi shelf with the workzone compressor, label printer ,four way desk top extension lead, concealed fixing shelf etc etc. Never again.

Then as I placed it in my drawer next to the cookie cutters, I wondered if they, placed in a normal pan, would achieve the same desired result?

I have the same feeling. I honestly try to avoid it if I can. The missus on the other hand, seeks bargains in those brochures in the TV Listings mags; so you can imagine she is in her element on the Aldi special buy aisle. That said she did get a pair of cargo pants on said aisle that came in very useful for her job.

Aldi
The only place you can go for a tin of beans and come out with full motorbike leathers, a duvet & a deep fat fryer
....whilst forgetting the beans

Re: The middle aisle in Aldi
The one-egg pan is one of the most used items in my kitchen (not an Aldi one mind); I wont hear a word against them.
slow fry a duck egg in there with a very small amount of oil whilst the toast is doing, beautiful and tasty fried egg on toast.
There's no convenient Aldi where I live but Lidl has a similar "odds & sods" aisle which I sometimes have a wander down. Think I bought some long-johns there a few years ago but the winters have never been bad enough to wear them since.

Re: The middle aisle in Aldi
The declining quality of supermarket eggs is the reason for my purchase.
Love a nice thick egg, not one which has spread the entire width of a 20cm pan..
Starving now!!!

Re: The middle aisle in Aldi
Use a proper pan with a circular frying ring, that keeps your egg together they don't sell them in Aldi though if they did they'd have heat generated phone charges built in.starting_11 wrote:The declining quality of supermarket eggs is the reason for my purchase.

Men's and ladies cycling suits next to the baked beans.
Bit of a tenuous link but wind powered cycling.
Those clever people at Aldi think of everything.

It's great that middle aisle. I slowly stock up on decorating buts ready for the next project, Christmas presents etc. I have to discipline myself not to buy any must have but never used items.

Lidl had some chainsaws the other week, well tempted but I didn't know whether they were cheap or not, not being clued up on the price of chainsaws and such.

Re: The middle aisle in Aldi
I bought a child sized wetsuit from Aldi. At £12 It was an absolute bargain. Pity I don't have any kids and I can't swim.
Also bought some Secateurs which might be useful if I didn't live in a flat.

Re: The middle aisle in Aldi
There's a new retail park that's opened around here... Aldi, Costa Coffee, Poundland, McDonalds and all that jazz.
I took a trolley into Aldi after a long walk, thinking I'll buy the shop, it's so cheap.
I got to the end of the last aisle... feck all. Trolley... Empty. I felt like a right pillock walking up to checkout number 3 with a family sized pack of bog roll in my trolley that I'd just thrown in.
It reminded me of a Kleeneze catalogue. Lots of weird and wonderul things, but quality like what you'd find in a Kinder Egg.

There is a simple solution...... Don't go in
Re: The middle aisle in Aldi
You go in for the food bargains and come out with an all weather cover for a car even if you have a moped.beddie wrote:There is a simple solution...... Don't go in
