Pope - 8 took charge back there, a catch, a punch and a fabulous header releasing the pressure
Ward - 9 looks well at home at this level. He's offering plenty going forwards, but boy can he defend.
Mee - 8 - little slip early on, but won everything after that.
Tarky 10 As an excellent defensive display you are likely to see. His, foot, head and body just seemed to be in the way of everyone and everything.
Lowton - 8 great game management, quieter than Ward, but just as influential in the victory
Brady 7 huffed and puffed, thought he 2as running on empty from 70 onwards
Defour - 9 a rolls Royce display.
Cork 8 looked composed, was everywhere
Hendrick - 8 took his goal extremely well
Wood - 8 did the hard yards, got us up the pitch, won us throw ins etc when no right too.

What a great football move our goal looked, I will have to see it back, but it looked to be an excellent move, finished off superbly.

Well done to all the team and management. A great win!

Pope 7 not a lot to do but generally did it well. One early on he dropped but ok after that
Lowton 7 solid
Mee 7 looked vulnerable early on but grew into the game and was his usual solid self
Tarks 9 superb better than Keane
Ward 9 fantastic attacking play. Nice to see competition for places playing dividends and forcing him to do more going forwards.
Brady 6 good defensively generally and great ball to ward in the build up to the goal but thought he was very average other than that going forward. Also A few sliced clearances putting us in danger. Prefer him on the left.
Defour 7 worked hard but a bit quiet offensively
Cork 8 brilliant battling display
Hendrick 7 much better than recent games. Getting back to full fitness. Great bit of skill for the goal.
Arfield 7 generally very good. Just needs to calm down a bit on the final ball sometimes. Gets in great positions and often wastes it.
Wood 7 thankless task up top especially second half but he made their defenders work. Won some good headers often with no one any where near.

Defensively we were excellent but other than the excellent goal didn't create much going forwards. We didn't even have to play particularly well for a comfortable victory!

Everton have spent 140m this summer. The same amount we have spent in the entire clubs history. Incredible!

An excellent win with relative ease between the first 5 and last 5 mins showing just how far we have come. I thought they were very poor and I actually became frustrated (I understand it but I feel we can be better than that) at our slash clear approach at times in the second half. Oh how far we have come under Dyche for me to feel like that :)

Hard to pick a MOM...so many good performances
Pope - 8 - assertive throughout
Lowton - 8 - really stood up and took ownership of tough situations
Mee - 8 - one tough moment but very strong (again)
Tarks - 9 - * - just beats Ward for mom, outstanding defending and some very nice forward movement
Ward - 9 - a real threat going forward and excellent in defence
Arfield - 8 - one of his strongest games, a real threat going forward and as usual covered very well
Defour - 8 - so composed
Cork - 9 - his defensive coverage is just remarkable
Brady 6 - lower than others have scored him, but didn't see enough of him today or enough quality
Wood 7 - thought he showed good versatility today

As frustrating and concerning as last week's performance was, this was admirable and utterly marvellous. Brilliant.

Pope - 9 - He didn't have many saves to make, but 3 or 4 times he came and made really positive decisions to catch or punch really awkward balls into the box, and once he did terrifically well to make a header just outside the box. That shows real confidence, which is brilliant to see and testament both to himself, and also the work that's no doubt gone in behind the scenes (including from Heaton I imagine).

Lowton - 8 - He'll have games when he is more of a threat going forwards, but one sliced clearance aside he was rock solid defensively.

Ward - 9 - Superb in attack, particularly in the first half, but equally towering defensively.

Tarkowski - 10 - Sensational. Virtually flawless.

Mee - 9 - As Tarks, except for one rick in the first half that might have cost us on another day.

Defour - 9 - His ability to keep his composure under pressure and find a pass to give us a breather was the biggest difference between this and some of our more frantic away performances last season but he also did all the ugly stuff superbly, too.

Cork - 8 - I thought Everton ran off him a few times in the first half hour, but that apart, he was superb and his work around the edge of our area was brilliant at times.

Hendrick - 8 - Took his goal with the utmost composure. I still don't think we get the maximum out of him play that far forwards, but he saw more of him taking the ball facing forwards today and we saw him driving forwards in possession more too.

Brady - 8 - Terrific workrate and the quality of his switch pass from the right flank to left in the build up to the goal shouldn't be overlooked - it opened up the pitch in a way we were unable to do last week. Carried a proper threat on the counter attack in the second half, although he probably lacked a bit of composure a couple of times when he should have put chances on a plate for Wood.

Arfield - 8 - Involved in virtually everything, and apart from occasionally lacking a tiny bit of composure when the final pass was on, he was terrific.

Wood - 8 - Was always going to be in for a tough battle, but got the better of Williams in particular and provided a real outlet for us all afternoon. Held the ball better than he has previously with his back to goal, but also threatened running in behind as well.

I know Everton are struggling a bit and their lack of confidence was obvious, but that's still as consumate a performance as I reckon we've produced at this level. We've had wins before against "bigger" teams, but we've never done so this comfortably and it was in no way a backs to the wall job - particularly in the first half we had plenty of the ball, generally controlled the game and created every bit as much as Everton did (and probably should have gone in 2 up - had the game turned out differently, the penalty deniaal that saw Arfield booked would have been a scandal). In the second half we challenged Everton to break us down - whilst still being a threat on the counter - and truth be told they never really looked like scoring.

And then the goal - an absolute thing of beauty. 90 seconds of pure viewing pleasure. 24 passes, all with a purpose, manipulating Everton around the pitch, a glorious switch of play from Brady, a nice bit of link play down the left and a wonderful feint and finish from Hendrick. There won't be a better passing move in the month of October anywhere in the league. It was absolutely sensational.

Superb start to the season, but more importantly, the sort of performance and goal that demonstrates its no fluke.

Pope 8: confident performance
Lowton 8: rocksteady
Tarkowski 9: a rock pure and simple
Mee 8: few errors at the start, otherwise same as usual
Ward 9: always a steady performer, but today he was outstanding. For that (and despite Tark's heroics) I'll give him the MOM
Arfield 8: another one profiting from the Cork-Defour partnership
Cork 8: the young Alexander
Defour 8: calmness personified - so glad we're seeing his true class
Hendrick 8: great finish and gave his all, still improving after his absence
Brady 7: great ball for the goal but otherwise still too wasteful in possession at times
Wood 8: worked hard and showed some good bursts of pace - showed why he's ahead of Vokes at the moment

Haha. I was quite critical last weekend of the way we went about breaking Huddersfield down, so it seems only right to be equally gushing with praise for what I thought was a really really impressive performance today.

We went to Everton, one of the "big 7" of the Premier League, and didn't just win, we went there and looked like we were in every respect their equals or betters. It wasn't an underdog performance, it was a proper, strutting, Premier League class performance. Which I'm sort of in awe of really.

Pope 8 No dodgy moments with thoughtful, accurate distribution **
Lowton 8 As usual, reliable, great distribution, goes about his work quietly with skill ***
Ward 9 Solid defender, with great passing and crossing ability, his part in the goal was outstanding ****
Mee 8.5 Good header of the ball with great positional sense ***
Tarks 9.5 Brave, aware and would risk injury to block shots. My MotM *****
Defour 8 He slots well in to midfield is much fitter this season. Quality ***
Cork 9.5 What a signing he has proved to be, goes about his work with skill and bravery *****
Brady 8 His crossing was not as accurate as usual, but works hard for the team ****
Arfield 8 Some of the touches he had were top drawer, another excellent team player ***
Hendrick 9 He was the man in right place for the goal which he put away with aplomb.***
Wood 8.5 A real handful for his markers leading them up many cul-de-sacs to allow holes to appear in their back line***

Brady 8 Some sublime touches and worked hard

Pope - 7 not much to do.
Lowton - 7 solid at the back but didn't offer much going forward.
Tarkowski - 10 the best CB performance I have seen for a long time.
Mee - 6 thought he was the weak link in defence today and looked shaky for the majority of the game. Was quickly targeted by a pretty poor attacking line.
Ward - 8 great offensively and defensively.
Brady - 7 some real flashes of quality. I just wish he did it more often.
Cork - 8 solid
Defour - 8 class on the ball
Hendrick - 8 let's hope he stays fit because he gives the team a much better balance.
Arfield - 8 class, he has improved leaps and bounds this season.
Wood - 8 a serious performance from little service. A very well rounded performance.

I thought we were extremely poor last week but this really was the polar opposite.
A great team performance from absolutely everyone.
Tarkowski was excellent in particular but the rest were not too far behind.

The goal matched the performance.

Bossed it. Away at Everton. In the premier league. Nothing else to say really. It was fantastic

Pope 8 - untroubled, but the defence trust him and he trusts them
Lowton 8 - great at the back
Tarkowski 9 - magnificent
Mee 8 - magnificent (apart from error at the start)
Ward 9* - superb all over the pitch
Arfield 8 - so pleased that he's part of this side. he's stepped up big style
Defour 8 - him and cork anchor that midfield so well and their calmness on the ball and game knowledge is terrific
Cork 8 - as above
Hendrick 8 - much better than last week, and sending Schneiderlin for a coffee and donuts was brilliant. Calm finish as well
Wood 8 - a real threat, held it up well and bullied poor Ashley Williams all over the pitch
Brady 8 - only bleamish was the failure to set up Wood for a tap in, but good again

Magnificent

I am critical of Dyche. Could and should have brought on Westwood and JBG for me. Thought we were starting to sit too deep. That said, I don't think Everton would have scored in a brothel.

Pope 7 (Purely as he had nothing really to do)
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 8
Mee 8
Ward 8
Arfield 7
Cork 7
Defour 8
Hendrick 7
Brady 7

What a defensive display and fight,we are starting to get the recognition of one of the best defensive set ups in the PL

Pope 8-pretty flawless
Lowton 7 played his part-a few scewed clearances
Tarkowskli 9-magnificent and now getting recognition. Be prepared for some huge bids for him in January sadly
Mee 8-what a rock and what a leap he has. Got bellowed at by SDearly on for not getting close to Niasse, and from then did not put a foot wrong
Ward 9, close to MOM. Agree with a previous poster the best LB for about 40 years ie since Keith Newton. So tidy
Arfield 8, his form since Spurs has been sensational
Defour 8-really toughened up and fitter, compliments Cork, great vision
Cork 8, for me the key difference to last year. In my eyes he is as good as some of the midfield in the England squad ie Livermore, Plays a huge role defensively
Hendrick 8 including 1 for a great goal-very composed for his goal but Sneiderlin was soft in his challenge
Brady 8-a killer pass to start our goal. Pleased he is not being subbed. His dead balls are class and he is getting stuck in both on the ground and arerially
Wood 8-my unsung hero. Had two International centre halves who never got a rest. So glad he started

One of my fave away days. My last trip to goodison ended in that 1-0 defeat that spelled almost certain relegation 3 seasons ago when jones missed a sitter and Barnes got sent off.
Hardly anyone spoke on the way home. It's a joy how much we have improved since then to give us so much genuine optimism on the road.
A word of praise for the Evertonians. Went today with my 7 year old lad - train up from Ellesmere port - and a lift back to Lancs. every encounter I had today with a scouser was pleasant, courteous and they all talked to my lad. After the game at least two made the effort to say how much we deserved to win. Good football people - even if they were quiet at the ground.

Pope.....7. had nothing above average to do.
Lowton..7 not his best day
Tarks.....9 Excellent.
Mee......8 impressive
Ward....10 Outstanding at both ends of the field. and that is my first ever 10.
Brady....7 Good on ball, poor defending. some of his hoofed clearances were amateurish.
Defour...8 Usual quality
Cork.....8 Usual quality
Hendrick.8 +1 for the goal.wonderful composure to beat the man and roll it in.
Arfield...8 deserves his place ahead of JBG
Wood....7 mixed bag. works his socks off but he had a spell after HT where nothing he touched came off.

Barnes..N/A

All for opinions but we might as well all go home if Mee is getting a 6 from that.

Doing the ratings tonight is difficult but I've decided no one deserves less than 8 whilst I'm not giving a 10. Somehow I've selected some players for a 9 and others 8 after what was a terrific performance.

Pope 8
Lowton 8
Tarkowski 9
Mee 8
Ward 9
Brady 8
Defour 8
Cork 9
Arfield 8
Hendrick 9
Wood 8

Pope - 8 Not an awful lot to do but he came out and collected a cross along with the headed clearance.
Lowton - 8 Solid. Would have been unfortunate for the penalty shout. One dodgy clearance.
Tarkowski - 9 Very impressive. Not sure what would be required for a 10.
Mee - 8 A number of clearances. Stout as usual.
Ward - 9 Thought he was excellent. Very little to complain about.
Brady - 7 Some quality touches but knocked 1 off for the 3 skied clearances and wasting possession with the free kick near the end.
Cork - 9 Outstanding defensively. 2nd half in particular.
Defour - 8 Calm and maintained possession when others would have panicked.
Hendrick - 8 Decent with a bonus mark for his composure for the goal.
Arfield - 8 I thought he played very well. Solid in defence even when they were pushing forwards at the end.
Wood - 8 Worked and provided an option even though it was a fairly lonely game up there at times.
