The 'Sir' isn't needed but the lower case letters at the beginning of his forename and surname are still a problem.

One of the most fantastic midfielders I've ever seen
Charlton on McIlroy.

He's only a flash and blood human being, why are we paying tribute to him? He only kicked about a leather bag of wind for a few years.. ;)

Stood on the Bee Hole End once when he smashed one past Peter Mellor after a mazy dribble from George Best. One of the few Man Utd players I admired. Great player.

I think he has attended the funerals of former Burnley legends from the 60s on occasion

A very good "one club" player, who (like countless others) conducted himself with dignity.

No more no less. He played for a team where a fawning media bummed almost every player to high heaven.

Had he and McIlroy swapped teams and countries then it would be JM who'd be subject to this endless "emporer's new clothes" type of treatment

great player think I saw the goal reffered to above by CM smashed from about 25 yards past peter mellor I think in the bee hole end nets in a night match league cup early 70s

I was a little claret with my dad in the cricket field stand - think we lost 1-0 and seem to remember from same game George Best got sent off near the end for an altercation with John Angus

saw him home and away longer than I care to remember but he was very good, liked to watch him except for those thunderbolts that did not so much nestle in the next as make it bulge. I wonder what he would have done with the modern ball in his pomp.

definitely yes has conducted himself very well.

I’ve met him on a couple of occasions and, unlike some that you may meet, he was a real gentleman. Too young to have seen him play, unfortunately.

me and my brother went to court in manchester about 5 years ago to resolve a property deal. Sir Bobby was queuing in front of us for a coffee and we started chatting to him.....nothing was too much trouble for him...autographs...photographs...in fact when we asked his answer was " certainly, my pleasure ".....his wife was sat at a table just smiling....a class act Sir Bobby.
