Is it time to drop Brady?

Post by Carport » Sat Oct 14, 2017 7:10 pm

Some good moments but overall free kicks and corner delivery has been average to poor and he’s just too careless with his passing for me to warrant a place in the team just now. Thoughts?

Thought he generally played well. He is positive and takes risks, why drop one of the main creative players.

No it's not but if he plays like he did today for the next couple of games then he should be benched.

He was poor today - and decision making was even worse. The international games definitely impacted 2 or 3 of our players at least

No way. He's created over 4 times as many chances as any other of our players. Probably our second most technically gifted player. He makes mistakes, but he tries things and they come off quite often. However, his short passing is not great, so I think he should be given permission to whip a ball in or shoot at any oppertunity. That is what he is good at. Fans must not can on his or any other players back because they are human and make mistakes and if a player like Brady made no mistakes he would play for a big big club.

Irish players excel for the ROI and are inconsistent at club level generally. There are some exceptions, like Roy Keane, although he was probably better for his club than international side!

Sometimes he's very frustrating, his end product is often poor but he needs games and with our current squad I would say no. If Wells was fit then possibly.

Brady was the only one who created our two best chances. One for the penalty and the second half with allowed for Wood to cross in.

I don't think so. He's the sort of player who can have a poor game but come up with that one moment of magic that actually wins it.

Brady is very hit and miss, that goes for his all round game not just set pieces.

That is a fair description of most wingers to be honest however, and he has to play every minute of every game because when he gets it right he gets it very right.

This is the truth. Who's the best? De bruyne, Robben, Hazard maybe? I bet even they arent 'on it' every game.

may not look great at times, overhit crosses and misplaced passes occasionally, but he is creative and threatening. His good points definately outweigh any bad. Got to be included everytime in my opinion. I like him a lot.

I hate them flicked passes he does. They either don't reach a Claret or if it does it puts him in trouble.

I'd also like to see Defour take some of the set pieces off him, especially the odd corner where Defour can swing it in more flat with his right foot.

Brady has got something about him though, something we don't have too much of.

No because even when playing badly he can play that killer ball.
Definitely needs taking off corners. He overhits most of them. If they are intended for the far post why don't we have the last man wide to knock it back across?

He's about half the player Gudmundsson is. Looks more and more like Ross Wallace.

If we had a suitable replacement possibly, but i don't think with our current available squad, there is an obvious like for like swap without unbalancing other areas of the team so no. If Walters or Wells were fit then it might be a different story, once the World Cup play-offs are done and dusted hopefully are Irish contingent can focus on Burnley 100%.

He is probably a better player than Gudmundsson. If you judged off today only rather than every other game this season then Gudmundsson may be better. Brady is a good player and one of our only creative outlets

Gudmundsson looked good today, confident after his goals for Iceland. We should be optimistic.

Brady is about 20 per cent premier league footballer and the rest is very average but he our only creative force who an pull rabbits out of the hat.

Would love some competition for him because he goes missing and simple 5 yard passes go astray.

He cant be dropped because he offers something nobody else does.

Don't understand why people are saying Brady should be dropped. He is a very good player for us and had one bad day. He wasn't even that bad today compared to Hendrick and arfield and the two full backs

Don't know how you can say this when Gudmonsson's assist came under pressure from two defenders.

Defour, Gudmondsson and Hendrick are creative players (with Hendrick currently floundering between midfield and attack), Cork and Arfield contribute a hell of a lot defensively and Brady flounders somewhere in between.

In theory he hits a dead ball well, but that doesn't extend to corners. We're 10 months in and he's yet to dominate a league match.

I'm a massive critic of Brady but he offers something not the players you mention offer.

Look at Tottenham and Everton and many other balls (Brady offers more creatively than any other Burnley player)

If he controlled games at this level he wouldn't be playing for us.

What impresses me is Brady does track back more than he used to his forward play will always be hit or miss but his hit is better than most people hit, and unfortunately his miss is too.

Hendricks is a hole player currently yes but he really does not have the game I don't thing to play there for the long run.

As for JBG he works hard but he not in the same creative mould for me as Brady. I'm not saying he not a good player or as good or bad just saying Brady and possibly Defour who has found a good place to be creative in the right channel.

100% agree about Hendrick, we're taking him out of the game. Especially behind Wood because he's a much better finisher but doesn't support his midfield well.

We're 8 games into the season - Brady cannot be resting on his assist at Spurs. No way in hell Brady offers more creativity than Gudmondsson who hit the post and created our goal today.

what about his role in the Everton goal !!!

I think partly the creative edge is nullified by certain player roles within the framework but in our framework Brady is the creative outlet but I guess all opinions

Well Brady creates much more than the creative players you are on about, he has created 4 times more chances than any other Burnley player. His corners are not that bad, much better than Scott arfield taking them last year!
