Man United players

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Wed Oct 18, 2017 9:47 pm

Mile Svilar - the youngest ever goalkeeper to play in the champions league made his Benfica debut tonight at 18. Had generally a decent game but misjudged a free kick from Rashford (a clever one at that) and carried the ball over his own line.

But Lukaku and others at the end went over to a visibly upset Svilar who had apologised to the crowd to console the opposition keeper! Good to see. Hopefully he recovers well as he is meant to be a very good prospect!

Cant be a position on the pitch that has more pressure on a young player.

It wasn't even a bad mistake. The mistake wasn't that he carrier the ball over the line, he had no choice but to try keep hold of it because there were Utd players following to easily score if he didn't keep hold of it, his mistake was anticipating that Rashford's freekick would be a cross, not a shot, and from where the free kick was taken even the most experienced of keepers would have anticipated a cross.

Exactly. Reminded me of ronaldinho vs seaman in 2002.

What a load of rubbish. He should have punched it. There was no one anywhere near him, so he could have punched it to the side away from the general mass of players.

rubbish, he should have chested it down and proceeded to waltz up the field before blasting past De Gea at the other end. Another over-rated youngster ;)

It's the sort of mistake I would expect Lee Grant or Beast to make...
