More than happy with that

Post by Vegas Claret » Sat Oct 21, 2017 4:58 pm

Don't think I've ever been less upset by a defeat. I thought we played really well today against an amazing football team, and our fans were superb too.

Well done to all concerned

You can be happy with it, but you can't be more than happy with it, surely?

We lost 3-0, and it'll take a good few Gin and Tonics for me to be happy.

They'll walk the league which shouldn't be a surprise if you look at how much they've spent. I just hope Wood isn't too badly hurt.

No, I'm more than happy - we play like that against other teams and we'll be comfortable. I was far from happy when we got points against West Ham and Huddersfield as those performances weren't anywhere near the level we showed today.

The disappointing thing for me was the soft second goal. We were still doing ok until then but Mee hardly seemed to get off the ground and it was game over. Was not disappointed to lose but extremely disappointed we didn't even manage 1 shot on target. Our ball retention today was appalling, generally defended well until the second goal went in. Thought Tarks and Cork were fantastic today.

When Chris Wood went off injured we had 6 players missing from our squad

Heaton
Marney
Wood
Vokes
Wells
Walters

So all in all yes it was a 3-0 loss but still a credible result and a very good performance against an excellent Man City team.

And is there any way Bernardo Silva I think it was can be banned retrospectively for that blatant dive to get their penalty and first goal?

****** off me, that effing penalty decision will haunt me until we get a dodgy one in OUR favour, my feeling is I'm going to be '****** off' for a long time though.

All that hard work for some bald headed tosser to waste it all.

How can you be happy with that? I'm furious.

If we had Marco Silva we'd have passed them off the park.

The sooner Dyche bogs off to Leicester the better.

The penalty was right in front of me and was never a penalty.

Disappointed but it was expected.

Not happy that we made John Stones look good. He’ll not have such an easy game this season.

The result is fine, we all expected to lose but the manner is really difficult to take. At 1-0 down there comes a point where you stop parking the bus and take risks to TRY and get a goal to give ourselves something to hang onto. Unfortunately we took no risks continued to park the bus and got punished 3-0, id have rather we lost 5-0 and really gone for it at 0-1. Extremely negative Imo.

I'm sure you can. If you're not particularly bothered about something and don't feel like showing any emotion either way, then you're insouciant. That's not how somebody else sees you, it's how you're just feeling at that particular point.

Not sure how somebody else can tell me whether I was concerned or anxious :-D

If we'd lost 5-0 you would've been on here demanding Dyche was fired and stamping your feet.
At 3-0 you're expressing disappointment at how we lost.

Dyche wouldn't win with you either way in that respect.

At 3-0 I'm disappointed at how we lost, nothing to do with the score which is completely irrelevant but keep making up sh**e because you're clearly lacking upstairs. Just remember, Wigan survived 8 years in the PL but according to sh** for brains, they never survived at all.

Ah the selective memory...

The Wigan discussion was based on sacking Dyche and getting a manager in to play better football.
I used Wigan as an example of a club employing a manager who got his team's to play better football.

As a result they had a relegation battle each season, finished lower in the league than they did under Bruce and Jewell, eventually getting relegated.
You've happily stated you'd settle for finished lower down the league if we played better football.
As for survival, they didn't survive with a better style of football, they got relegated after a few seasons of just about staying up.
If they'd survived they'd still be in the PL....

Only one **** for brains on here and it isn't me.

I was listening to TalkSport2 and watching the stats on BBC. Possession stats suggest that we did "give it a go" in the 2nd half - without getting too exposed - until the 2nd and 3rd goals.

If it was anything like Spurs, we'd have been looking to contain them and then give it a go in the last 10-15 minutes.

3-0 is in line with the stats from the start of the season, if anything, Burnley a little ahead of the "expected goals" and City a little behind.

"Positive realities" - I expect Sean Dyche is "ok" with the result, though would have liked the right decision with the pen.

Another time.

You talk in riddles and make very little sense, the lack of footballing knowledge really lets you down. How do you possibly play 8 consecutive seasons in the PL without surviving relegation?

No riddles, you just refuse to understand.

Effective football under Bruce and they finish higher than pretty football under Martinez, resulting in relegation.
It isn't about the 8 years in one chunk, it was broken down into management and football styles to take apart your desire for pretty football and the sacking of Dyche.
You want pretty football at Burnley, but you're point blank refusing to consider the fact we also need to play ugly effective football at times to get points on the board.
Wigan failed to keep playing effective football resulting in a succession of relegation battles every year under Martinez.

I can't make it any more simple for you...so I think we are done on this thread.

Tbf I wouldn't say we parked the bus as such.Wehile we got a bit pinned back before their 2nd prior to that we'd had a decent spell .Lets not forget our lads are bargain basement when compared to Citehs world elite superstars Losing Wood was bad as Barnes proved to be useless and the usual disgrace to the shirt (ok some uber fan will bring up the goal he scored )
We were decent, just very limited which can't be helped .
And like most while disappointed it won't change my Sat night

Initially of course any Burnley fan will be disappointed with the result.

But. We then look at perspective. Some will look immediately. For others they will need to sleep on it.

Using perspective we can see that this is an acceptable result (and performance I presume) given the bigger picture. If some can't see that they are ignoring the facts of football life.
