How can you give Wood a 4, when he went off after 20 minutes? Surely that's either 6 or removed from ratings.

Pope 7
Lowton 6
Tarkowski 8 (MOM)
Mee 7
Ward 6
Brady 6
Cork 7
Defour 6
Arfield 6
Hendrick 6
Wood 6
Barnes 5
Gudmundsson 6

Not too sure whether edits are allowed but I think 7 for Pope was a little stingy. 8 for Pope from me, but Heaton would "catch" more.

Pope 7
Lowton 3 got skinned countless times by sterling. Sloppy in posession
Ward 9 solid as ever and fabtastic bombing forward
Tarkowski 8 defended well in the main
Mee 5. Awful for the corner goal. Distribution poor. Tarks is carrying him on current form.
Arfield 6 steady and tried
Brady 9 looked a real threat and put some good balls in
Cork 6 hit and miss but did ok
Defour 4 his worse game for us
Hendrick 3 did he touch it at all?
Wood 7 looked a real threat before the injury

Barnes 3 see hendrick

I'm not going to score but the guys were the epitome of true grit today against a side that look all of what Barcelona did under Pep. I also learnt today the difference in class of Wood and Vokes/Barnes. So of his hold up play and movement was great to see for the short time he was on the pitch. So all good in effort and improvement

Pope - 7 whether or not he was a bit naive to challenge silva, it still wasn't a foul. Other than that he did well, no chance with the other two goals.

Lowton - 7 caught for the 3rd but not really his fault, decent enough otherwise

Tarkowski - 8 excellent again

Mee - 7 ottamendi had the run on him and he never left the ground for the killer goal; needs to be stronger there

Ward - 7 solid as ever

Brady - 6 not really a game where he was going to have many chances to get forward but he got in the odd decent position and did the defensive work

Defour - 7 held his own against one of the best midfielder there is

Cork - 8 same as defour but seemed to see more of the ball

Arfield - 6 a bit sloppy and frustratingly went for flicks when he needed to be making sure of the pass

Hendrick - 6 saw little of the ball but his pressing was again key to keeping us up the pitch

Wood - 5 shame he got injured as he looked lively; where he did get injured was his best work

Barnes - 6 hard job for him but he did ok without ever really posing a threat

As close to a free hit as we'll get this season and until the penalty we acquitted ourselves very well. It's a mark of how well we're doing that a team like city has to cheat to break the deadlock against us. Even after the opener we looked comfortable enough and started the second half very well indeed.

In the end, their superiority on terms of quality players told but the scoreline flattered them somewhat. Decent enough stuff against the megabucks.

Some astonishing low scores - no consideration as to who the opposition were.

I really have no comment to make on that one - but I bet Sterling is impressed with it.

Pope was outstanding today and kept the score from being double figures. 7 is a low rating in my eyes.

Fully agree, changed mine, cutting and pasted and didn’t change original. First time I’ve been in tier 3, four rows from back, don’t know about anyone else but I had difficulty identifying our players and I’ve been to specsavers :ugeek:

The penalty sticks in the throat and although we gave a very good defensive display and were incredibly resolute, we were never going to score and City were the `rightful` winners. Ex-barsteward was right in commentary saying that as difficult as it is against the likes of City, we HAD to be braver on the ball. Hendrick`s anonymity didn`t help.

Pope 8 thought he made some excellent saves and hard to call his actions rash (if anyone has!) for the `I`ll stick my right foot under your left leg and skydive`

Lowton 7
Tarkowski 8 (loved his Meeesque headed block - should he have scored though???)
Mee 7
Ward 6 (thought he was off the pace)

Brady 5 ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...frustrates me
Cork 8 MOM (he was superb in the first half)
Defour 6 (see Ward)
Arfield 6

Hendrick 4 REALLY FRUSTRATES ME
Wood 6

Barnes 6

ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!

Pope 8 (was excellent and didn't do anyrting wrong for the "penalty" either)
Lowton 6
Tarks 8
Mee 6
Ward 7
Defour 6 (Mee is really at fault for the second goal, but I feel Defour should have cleared off the line as the ball went through his legs. That's why he's there!)
Cork 7
Brady 5
Arfield 5
Hendrick 5 (as said above, he possibly didn't touch the ball in any meaningful way, but he had the ONE clear chance to put us level early in the second half and fluffed it)
Wood 6

Barnes 7 (I like Barnes and he really gave it his all as you'd expect, but he's not a lone striker in the Wood mould and with Sam injured it was sod's law that Wood would immediately follow suit)

Not our best afternoon out at one of "the big boys". We are far better usually at upsetting them and getting under their skin and frustrating them, but yesterday I thought we stood off and showed far too much respect and weren't nearly "physical" enough and although the penalty was fortuitous to say the least it came at just the wrong time for us as we were just beginning to frustrate them a bit. Similarly Hendrick missed a great chance to equalise and then their second came at a crucial time as if we'd gone into the last 10 minutes only 1 down you'd never bet against us stealing something, deserved or not, because we're very good at that. Coupled with the teeming rain and getting soaked to the skin afterwards, then shivering waiting for cancelled trains at Victoria, not the best day out!

TV

Pope 8 * Outstanding so far and never a penalty, De Silva trying out for gymnastics Olympic team
Lowton 6
Tarkowski 8 bet he has a sore cheek bone today
Mee 7 I do not blame him for the goal, another ref would have given a foul for Otamendi leading with his arm and diving on his back
Ward 7
Brady 6
Arfield 6
Hendrick 6
Defour 6
Cork 8
Wood 6 hope not to bad an injury

Barnes 6 not a lone striker

City will win the League we were not disgraced, pity we did not get something in the first 10 minutes of the second half, anyway still 29 games to go :D and we have only lost twice so far yippee

Decent effort, kept them out well especially in the first half when we saw more of City's cynical - rather than clinical - side.
Wood made a very promising start to the game and felt his departure was telling, Barnes toiled but struggled.
We were good early in the second half but conceding a header from a corner against a team like that is especially frustrating. City's speed off the ball and eagerness to win it back stands out - as did how high up the pitch they defend, they squeeze the play so much that it forces the opponent to use the ball well...which we did in phases, but we were worn down eventually and in the end did well to keep them at 3. Glad that one's out of the way tbh.

Pope 7
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 8*
Mee 7
Ward 7
Cork 7
Defour 6
Arfield 6
Hendrick 5
Brady 6
Wood (Barnes 6) - I thought Wood had a very promising
-
Gudmundsson 6

i thought you were one of the best teams we have faced this season. very organized and well set up. chris wood looks a good player. i think you will have a really good season this year.

how has mee been for you ? he was the city youth captain. interested to hear how hes getting on.

Mee is an absolute legend. The epitome of Dyche team and the ultimate fan favourite. As brave a defender as ive seen.
