Defour on the Post
The second goal was the result of one of the weakest attempts to clear his lines by Defour that I've ever seen. I would recommend to Sir Dyche that he find somebody else next time.

Re: Defour on the Post
Shouldn't have been a corner anyway. No idea why nobody decided to clear it.

Re: Defour on the Post
Mee hesitated and allowed the shot which resulted in the corner which he then didn't defend all that well, BUT I too was actually more critical of Defour because even though it was a good strong header he's there to clear from that post and it was basically right at him.
Re: Defour on the Post
Should have done better with it. It was the kind of thing Barton used to mop up.

I'm sure he didn't "let it in".
Sometimes a ball that is straight at you is more difficult to clear than one that you have space to swing a leg at.

Re: Defour on the Post
Defour looked gutted.
Got his feet mixed up as it came at him awkwardly.
Not a mistake - just unlucky.
Can't fault the graft he put in again. Give him a break on this.
Along with Cork, both are major reasons we have the got the points we have so far.

Re: Defour on the Post
To be honest I expected him to trap it,two or three kick ups launch it up over midfield Barnes latches on to it goes round stones..the keeper dives at his feet misses the ball completely and his trailing bootlaces makes contact with Barnes shin! Fortunately he manages to stay on his feet and the ref plays the advantage only to somehow miss an open goal and hit the crossbar...meanwhile Steve defour as run the length of the pitch meets the rebounding ball and does a conte style dive and heads it sweetly into the net!! That's what I expected him to do.RalphCoatesComb wrote:I'm sure he didn't "let it in".

Re: Defour on the Post
Defour has cleared the ball off the line whilst on the post for a corner in at least one other match this season, possibly two.ontario claret wrote:The second goal was the result of one of the weakest attempts to clear his lines by Defour that I've ever seen. I think he was just unlucky this time.
Re: Defour on the Post
No doubt that Defour will be disappointed but it was a calamitous bit of defending to concede the corner and then we were outmuscled for the header. Preventable on more than one front.

Anyone remember the Nigel Worthington clip against Man U?

About three minutes in. He just stands there, leaning against the post and watches it go in.

**** funny. He barely moves when Brian McClair comes flying in afterward and nearly takes him out.
Re: Defour on the Post
Nothing can beat this for a failed attempt to clear his lines. Bang on 5 minutes.

Not saying don't play him in the midfield. Just put somebody else on the post.

Re: Defour on the Post
Just unlucky. The fact that it was a very good powerful header had something to do with it too.
Re: Defour on the Post
But he doesn't even bother to move. At all.
