Chris wood..

Post by Andreshotboots » Wed Oct 25, 2017 9:02 am

Amid all the distraction regarding the gaffers position, has anybody heard how serious his hammy injury was? Hopefully be ok for Newcastle?

SD post-match comment, " he felt a tightness". Hopefully he's come off to protect himself.

Pretty sure last time we heard a comment like that was at the start of JBG being out for about 3 months. Always difficult with muscle injuries, but fingers crossed he is back sooner rather than later.

Amputation is the only option. Though this will mean he becomes a very one-footed player.

It's a big downer, how the club always says it's a minor injury, or just being precautious, yet players are then out for weeks. It's happened several times now, to various players. Why they can't be open about it is a mystery.

If a hamstring snaps in the Wood and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise?

He'll just grow another leg, because he's Wood.

I suspect he wont be rushed back for the Newcastle game , so that he can play in the two world cup play offs at the the other side of the world the week after and then really damage his hamstring, so he is out till after Xmas.

International matches tend to take priority now, one of the downsides of being in the Premier League.

Any news on Vokes or Wells as with Walters out we only have Barnes and Wood - a bit light up top at the moment.

So we currently have 4 of our 5 strikers injured. Now just imagine if we had 4 of our 3 centre backs injured at the same time!

Strange how it works out isn't it. Everyone was spazzing out about having way too many strikers and no centre halves after the transfer window.

Then against City we only had Barnes fit to play up front, whereas Kevin Long is yet to get a minute on the pitch.

We're going to end up with Long at centre half and Tarkowski up front which will really make some heads spin on here, especially if he scores.

A number of posters were saying that we had plenty of permutations if we had injuries up front, but non if our central defenders got injured.

How wrong they were!

No they weren't because we have more cover up front that we do at centre half especially when considering the formation we are now playing.

How? We've had injuries to 4 strikers and still have one left. If we had injuries to 4 central defenders we'd have none, and that includes unproven at centre back Charlie Taylor.

Wells has had 90 minutes in 2 Development Squad games now. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench next Monday if either Wood or Vokes don't recover in time.

I dunno why we keep sending players back on to run Hammy's off. Last time we did that at Villa Ashley was out for a year. They never run off.

Not really, 1 came with a free wheelchair, and the other was purchased whilst 2 months away from being fit to play.
