Touch and go in Dyche speak means he's out for at least a month.

IF we are forced to start with Ashley Barnes up front in a 451 it'll likely make for a very long night.

I hope both will be fit for monday, we will struggle to score goals without either of them, barnesy hasnt the skill to create much but works hard and can win set pieces, Wells wont be match fit so options are limited. we need to playing as well as we have been and hopefully score a few more goals

Barnes would be a far better player with his arms chopped off..

Hopefully Wood will be fit and ready to play against Newcastle. A definite plus if so.
I get the impression that Barnes is told to go down under a challenge in order to win a set piece for Brady. This reminds me of when Shearer played for England. He went down on every occasion when a ball was played to him outside the box to try and win a free kick for Beckham, he managed to stay on his feet for his club and was a much better player.
If Barnes stayed on his feet and played the ball I'm sure we would create better chances.

We're short up front if Woods or Vokes can't make it.
If so we might have to blood Wells as Barnes up front by himself will make it difficult to score.

Like most people, I really like Barnes, but alone up front, at home? I don't think so unfortunately and if SD has no choice I fear (as already stated) it will be a very long night.

What gives you that impression?Nonayforever wrote:I get the impression that Barnes is told to go down under a challenge in order to win a set piece for Brady.

I really really wish Barnes reminded me of Shearer when playing for England. 30 goals in 63 appearances for his country suggest there is nothing remotely similar in their games. Also suggests Shearer was pretty damn good when playing for England.Nonayforever wrote:Hopefully Wood will be fit and ready to play against Newcastle. A definite plus if so.

Probably the same sort of impression that the likes of UptheBeehole and Walton get that he's just a thug and not just a very limited footballer at this level.
We like a bit of Ashley, but not as a lone forward.

Yes, hope Vokes or Wood can play or if not we could try 442 with arfield,Gudmundsson or Brady (as one of the front 2)in a free roaming position where they get into goal scoring positions. Wells has played 2 or 3 games now so could possibly be put on the bench.

Happy with a Barnes start, a great ability to tire defenders and set up a few cards ahead of replacement in the 2nd half

I can't see them risking Wood if its a hamstring to be perfectly honest.

Oh dear, hope he is fit to play.
Not playing for Burnley and then charging half way around the world for NZ is not a nice prospect.
