Atmosphere tonight
Sat in a different part of ground tonight.
Atmosphere was poor. Nothing at all in all but the cfs. Who were decent.
Newcastle fans were great. Decent noise and a great following.
Not sure whats gone wrong atmosphere wise. Very poor. Disappointing that there wasnt more recognition of Dyche tonight. Since coyle left support of the managers has been non existent.
Great win though.

on TV came through loud and clear and everyone sounded well up for it; seemed a decent atmosphere.
Re: Atmosphere tonight
Yes poor atmosphere and I thought CFS was quieter than normal too.

I was at opposite end to cfs and they seemed loud enough. But was a bit drab.
Re: Atmosphere tonight
Our fans are sh** tbh, have been since Coyle walked out. I still think the boring football is a major factor

I agree krbfc. Apart from the football. Whether its good or bad thats an excuse. Fans should be on it regrdless of performance.
Its like we dont trust the manager though. After coyle and howe walked out.

Just before we scored the CFS got going - and then nothing - Last 5 mins and silence in there.cricketfieldclarets wrote:I agree krbfc. Apart from the football. Whether its good or bad thats an excuse. Fans should be on it regrdless of performance.

Chill folks! Not many grounds in the country where you can say the home atmosphere is great!

Got a bit tedious when we spent half of game mirroring anything Newcastle sang - The only time we got going properly and got that gritty atmosphere going ..... We bagged a goal.
Has to make a difference that whenever the decibels go up - the performances do too on the pitch.

Re: Atmosphere tonight
Its Monday night, hardly anyone gets fired up for the game in the pub beforehand anymore. That edge between rival fans is no longer there, the football is functional rather than exciting. It usually takes a dodgy ref or a pantomime villain in the other team to get the fans going now.

Re: Atmosphere tonight
The novelty element of Premier League clubs visiting has fully worn off now and there is a bit of anxiety for each game because usually they can go either way
Re: Atmosphere tonight
I was in the CFS. Atmosphere was good at the start but died down as the game went on. All the side ways and backwards passes is hardly going to get you on your feet
Re: Atmosphere tonight
Hate to say it as I was a massive advocate of getting home fans in the CFS, but I feel because all the fans who sing opted to go in there that has nullified the 5 to 6 other fans who may have sat around them in say JHU to join in, afterall it is infectious and fans are like sheep with the 1 club mentality and I just feel for every 1 that has gone in the CFS 5 fans have been silenced and then the 5 to every one of those 5 the same and so on.

Amazing in fact the only away fans to actually make any noise in the history of football. Maybe they could offer courses to fans of other clubs?Steve1956 wrote:Thought the Newcastle fans showed us how to make a lot of noise tonight.

Re: Atmosphere tonight
Strange isn't it from where I was in the CFS the Toon fans were noisy sometimes and then quite quiet at other times. The Clarets didn't really get us going and once again some singing is at break neck pace and hard to get involved in.
Had to laugh at the Geordies after the final whistle with reference to their thoughts about our little ****hole town !! Err not noticed that we had beaten them had they ? Sounding a bit like the 'mighty' L**ds with their claim to be a superior club Ah bless !!

Re: Atmosphere tonight
Why do we have a thread about atmosphere after every home game? We can't make people sing that don't want to.
3 stands don't want to join in unless we score, it's not going to change at all this season.
If you're not happy with the atmosphere around you then move seats to somewhere louder.

Re: Atmosphere tonight
Thought atmosphere was very good for the first 20 minutes until it became another game of Chess. An Everton neighbour of ours commented about how good our fans were at Goodison the other week. I said were like that all the time away from home. Think it's general in football these days. Needs something reactive on the pitch to activate home support. Geordies were good, some of the best supporters in the country.

The support came through well on the TV. Wish I had been there.

Re: Atmosphere tonight
You didn't hear a cheep out of the Newcastle fans after they went 1-0 down.
I'm not quite sure what some of you want?
Something like Palace? Where everybody points and laughs at you?

Re: Atmosphere tonight
Fact is going to football in this country has become way too middle class. Too many families and kids, loads of lads banned. The best atmosphere's I can remember on Turf are generally were when there was a decent away following with the potential for a bit of aggro.

Re: Atmosphere tonight
Most Burnley fans on here would reject 'out of hand' any attempt to improve the atmosphere or co-ordinate the singing by using a drum or similar. I'm not sure if the thousands that DON'T post on here would be that bothered, similar to the goal music debate.
I don't mind a drum BUT I wouldn't want it anywhere near to me
Crystal Palace are the only fans that seem get behind their team for 90 minutes with their quite small 'Ultra' section. They certainly do make some noise!

Re: Atmosphere tonight
Definitely down to the brand of football IMO, which is pretty dull most of the time (but clearly extremely effective). Fans need excitement in the game which in turn can really turn up the volume. Dyche doesn't produce an attacking team as Coyle did in that great season. The likes of Blake, Elliot and Eagles really chasing the win or looking to come back from behind was at times really exciting and could really get the fans going.
You could easily argue that Dyche is a much better manager than Coyle, that we have a much better team, but the excitement factor has disappeared hence the library type atmosphere.

Re: Atmosphere tonight
It's always more difficult to create an "atmosphere " at home. Away is totally different, all in one stand, (and most standing), most people sing, seems "easier" to get behind the team when in different surroundings. I met my Man City season ticket holder mate and his daughter after the game at the Etihad last week, and they both said we were the best and loudest away fans this season so far. UTC

When have all 4 sides ever joined in with singing anyhow? Thinking about it. Never on a regular basis.
It's happened the odd time in the last 30yrs so why are we crying now?

Coming out of the 4th decision the whole ground was involved, there was even a “ bob Lord start the song” chant, and it worked every time.Quickenthetempo wrote:When have all 4 sides ever joined in with singing anyhow? Thinking about it. Never on a regular basis.

On the subject of Monday night, SD’s anniversary and the current media reports I was hoping for 30 mins chanting about his Claret and blue army.
