Time to drop Brady?

Post by Carport » Mon Oct 30, 2017 11:47 pm

Asked the question on here a few weeks back and got heavily criticised. I’ll ask it again. He was rubbish tonight. I’ve no problem making allowances for a few mistakes if a creative player like he is supposed to be regualrly does something special but he’s just not doing it for me. Does he really deserve his place in the team?

The only thing I found strange about him tonight was his willingness to go backwards instead of forwards, in the first few games he was trying stuff going forward. Don't know if it's something Dyche is trying to instill in him (looking after the ball better) or a confidence thing. To be fair our striking options were limited tonight so very often a forward pass wasn't an option. No doubt we could do with him lifting his game but we've seen with pretty much every player that they improve under Dyche - I'm not worried about him yet

Delivered a number of excellent balls into the box tonight, linked up very well with Ward, Hendrick and Cork. Sure some of his passing was a bit lacking in zip but overall? Decent performance.

I despair sometimes - what game do our fans watch?

Brady is a typical winger. Horrible one game, brilliant the next. On his day, he's a game changer and a game winner. Can we afford to leave a player out who can have such a positive impact? I'd say no

Thought he was ok tonight. At least he tries to be positive in a very rigid set up.

He put in skme good balls but seemed to float them in when it was calling for it to be drilled in. So many ended up in keepers hands easily.

He is one of those players who seems to have in his locker a moment of magic and I think in 5/10 games time when we properly look like we've sealed a spot in this league again will be when we see what he is truly about when he has more freedom and less pressure.

I'll bloody drop him if he keeps giving them hospital passes to his team mates.

Other than that, no.

I think I'm sat in front of the "we hate Brady brigade" in the JHU. Some of the abuse given to him tonight was embarrassing. They ranged from "Brady, get off the pitch you useless C**t". He was then called a lazy t**t. One fan then started singing a song about Brady not being able to pass a ball. I just don't get this kind of "supporter". We have the best team and manager in donkeys years and we have so many fans who whinge and moan. We are 7th in the PL! That means only 6 other teams above us in the whole feckin PL. We all want to progress but just because we aren't beating Newcastle at home 7 nil doesn't mean we aren't doing well.

I just don't get the negativity at all.

Robbie Brady is a class player we are lucky to have.He backed up Ward well and kept Newcastle at bay on the wings .It was obviously very cold on the Turf which would explain the fans who interpreted Robbies game in a way different to what actually happened.16 points after 10 games. It wasn't pretty but our players all played their part ,especially Robbie

One of our main goal threats. Even when hes not at the races hes one of the few who can create something from nothing. Only Defour and Arfield have that imo.

Last night was a typical dyche winger performance. Work hard. Defend our draw and try nick a win.

He was better than jbg. Barnes. ward. At least.

No, wasn't great last night but was always making good runs and being positive. Defensively excellent. I just wish both of our wingers received the ball on the run and took men on. We seem to play a ball to feet so all of their momentum is lost and it's harder to then run down the wing.

Can't really see how we can drop him as we simply don't have a replacement. I thought he was poor tonight. His passing and crossing was very very poor when in very good positions in the final third, I thought this was particularly the case in the first half. I just wish he would drill it low and hard in to the penalty area at times rather than trying to play a precise pass and failing.

Very wasteful.

We can't drop him, as we don't have another winger to come in and replace him. IMO he is part of the "natural progression" of our club just like JBG.

We went from having wingers who were defensively solid but offered little going forwards to player who were a bit more adventurous (yet still defensively decent) but a little inconsistent.

The next step is to bring in even better quality wingers to take the places of Brady and JBG (keeping hold of them too) which also improves our strength in depth.

For a club like ours to progress and become an established PL team, we need to slowly keep improving and building in the manner we have throughout SD's time here, similar to how Stoke have done since they were relegated to league one about 20 years ago, however we have a better starting point and have made / are making bigger strides than anyone (possibly even SD could have imagined).

Wasn't it Bradys shot from the edge of the area that nearly lobbed Elliott?

He was poor last night but he has been at the Turf all season. He's far more effective away from home. It's difficult for him when a team sits deep as he can't really get away from the full back enough to stretch the game. Having said that he certainly took the easy option too many times last night. There were a few occasions where he was one on one with his full back and refused to take him on. That's not good enough.

Gudmundsson is growing as a player and you can see his improvement. Not sure you can say the same about Brady. People can say what they like about Arfield but he could do what Brady did last night quite comfortably. Scotty moves the ball a lot quicker for a start. I don't think we should change a winning team but I wouldn't be surprised to see Arfield back in the team at the weekend, whether that be for Brady or Hendrick.

Let's give Newcastle some credit. They were very well organised and didn't give our attacking players much. Would definitely have someone else taking some corners though now and again

@WhoScored on Twitter:

"Robbie Brady: Has made more accurate crosses (27) than any other Premier League player this season"

That alone should cement his spot in the team for the near future considering our last 3 goals are from crosses.

Whilst i don't think Brady is playing particularly well, it's hard to criticise the midfield as a unit. We are doing fine, no need to drop anyone.

Nah that's balls, GIVE his best, give maximum effort, sure, but to say Dyche doesn't tolerate a player having an off day, that's simply not true

We're doing well, we're a balanced side, Brady is a big, useful part of that. If you look at many of our goals, he's been involved one way or another.
