I remember watching that - it was in reference to our giant killing 1-0 win over Man U. ''Little old Burnley'' was the exact phrase if I remember rightly.

I think you might be thinking of 'Man in the White Suit', Dermot. That starts Alec Guiness, is set in Birnley's Mill in an un-named Northern Town and was filmed in Burnley. If I remember correctly, the opening shot of the film is looking down Ashfield Rd in Burnley, with the railway viaduct on one side and mills on the other.

I don't know why but I remember that Birds of a Feather had a line in about Burnley, something about a girl understanding Spanish and then saying "They do have schools in Burnley you know". A bit of googling suggests it is this episode https://uktvplay.uktv.co.uk/shows/birds ... 8227108001" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Given that was from 25 years ago I have no idea how I remember this.

And of course, whilst not strictly film or TV (although still a video) the video for Kicker Conspiracy by the Fall shot at the Turf

As another poster wrote, quite a few mentions in Corrie (I think a few of the cast are BFC fans as well as one of the editors or writers or something like that).

The story goes that Chesney's late Great Dane, 'Schmeiche'l was originally going to be called 'Jensen' after Burnley's former goalkeeper but the powers that be decided that 'Schmeichel' had wider appeal being linked with Man Utd.

I remember one scene in Corry where Amy had come back from football practice and was wearing a Burnley home shirt, and Kirk was on about making a delivery from Underworld to a customer in Burnley.

Vroom was filmed in Nelson. My mate Glen Britton was an extra in that film. He is the owner of the "Burnley Blues" flag seen on the Turf when we have played Chelsea. I didn't see it in August at Stamford Bridge though.....

Interesting. I never knew that. But I know both films very well. 'The Man in the White Suit' is where Alec Guinness plays an inventor in search of a formula to create an indestructible cloth. In 'The Card' he plays a sort of entrepreneur who turns events to his advantage to further his way in the world. It also stars Glynis Johns and Petula Clark.

I never knew that TMITWS was filmed in Burnley though.

‘Juliet Bravo’ frequently showed scenes around town. Remember my parents house on Todmorden Road being shown (from Smally Street).

Anyone mentioned the Inbetweeners first movie?

On the coach they are stuck with a load of rowdy Burnley fans who chant all the way to wherever it is they are going. a Hotel abroad or something.

My in laws used to have a shop on Abel street, and the BBC asked they could use it for Juliet Bravo, I remember my father in law rubbing his hands together expecting a windfall. They spent hours filming, the shop was closed all morning and the streets were blocked off with what seemed like hundreds of kids watching.

All he got was a fiver for his troubles :D

forgot name of the film, but it starred Laurence Olivier, and was on last friday, about some washed up music hall act, there was a reference to his girlfriend being daughter of a wealthy bakery owner from Burnley.
Albert Finney was making his film debut in this, 1960 i think.

There is a town (actually a suburb of Melbourne) in Australia called Burnley.

Unfortunately, further down the road, is one called Blackburn.
