I'm another Fundsmith fan along with a basket of Investment Trusts. In the current market I'd be looking for some fairly defensive funds and would go with Troy Trojan as a core holding.

Last 6 months have been tough - portfolio was doing very well up until. May get worse.

We ended up binning this fund off last summer as it just wasn't good enough.

Woodford's turned into the Mourinho of investment managers.

I never advise anyone to buy a new fund. you can miss some good ones but there isn't the backing from long term gains.

Take Prufund cautious with its smoothed return. Paying around 3% smoothed after adviser and annual charges.

AVIVA launched a smoothed fund and placed a 5% downward adjustment in December

Henderson Cautious managed -3% over the same past year

Investec Cautious -5.3 % over the past year

wood ford last year -18% against UK all companies average of -5.5%

His fund is rock bottom out of 91 UK equity income funds in terms of average annual performance over the last 3 years. No wonder people are wanting to take their money out.

What is the potential outcome of this suspension do you think? Will the price collapse?

As I posted in post 50 some time ago ‘ a little knowledge is a dangerous thing’. Many of the people wanting out will be people who did their own research.....

Rightly or wrongly, past performance is the best guide to future fund flows, in or out

These kind of posts make me really curious.

Was it actually a Burnley fan who was inspired to post about risk profiling (but nothing about Burnley)?

Was it a really sophisticated bot?

Was it someone from a click farm who is scraping the barrel so much that they're registering on a random football messageboard with a few hundred users in the hope of generating click-throughs?

Who knows?

Now St James’ Place has pulled its mandate. Another £3bn of funds he manages disappearing straight out of the door.

The FCA has also put out a statement today on the suspension of fund withdrawals from his main fund. They don’t make public comments like this lightly!

Mark Dampier Hargreaves Lansdown’s Research Director who compiles the HL top 50 list sold £6.1 million worth of holding in Woodford’s fund in the last month between himself and his wife. The fund still remained on the list until last Monday on the basis he would turn the corner. They are perceived as cheap but who would believe this list ( and research) going forward ?

Dampier sold shares in Hargeaves Lansdown not Woodford's fund

The end perhaps:

...and some fallout from Denning, the other investment manager mentioned in the programme:
