Defour was my man of the match today… He pulled the strings and conducted the orchestra with Consummate ease. A beautiful performanc of midfield grace and simplicity.

Close call for MOM. A case for Barnes, Defour, Cork and Gudmundsson.

Pope - 7 - not much to do
Lowton - 8 - thought he was great today other than when he almost knocked out Tarks
Mee - 7 - solid, but his distribution was disappointing at times
Tarks - 8 - another strong, imperious performance
Ward - 8 - one difficult moment but otherwise great
JBG - 7 - some really creative moments, but thought he disappeared at times
Defour - 8 - really pulled the strings in midfield
Cork - 9 - so impressive defensively and showed he has a good attacking game today
Hendrick - 7 - very solid
Brady - 8 - one of his best games for us I thought, very accurate use of the ball
Barnes - 9 - just about pips Cork for MOM, and lets not just say he is a nuisance and works hard

Pope - 7 - Nothing much to do but seems to have improved handling.
Lowton - 8 - Very good and loved his double block in second half
Mee - 8 - Solid
Tarks - 8 - Solid
Ward - 6 - Poor first half I thought but looked better second half. Morale seemed the issue
JBG - 8 - Love him. Runs at defenders for fun
Cork - 8 - Always finds space in the midfield
Defour - 8 - Added that touch of class if he was involved in one of our attacks. Eager to get on the ball
Hendrick - 8 - Nearly gave him a 9. Always looked to get forward. Very tidy and nice assist to Ash
Brady - 8 - Very nice spells from him
Barnes - 9 - I was unsure myself about his ability to play as a lone striker but he took the ball down brilliantly, got in front of the man and played the ball to the man in space. Put Andre's first touch to shame.

Brilliant performance, especially in the first half. First goal was lovely and the second goal shows how quickly we can get the ball forward. Big game next week :D

Pope 7 good but nothing much to do, I like how he's far more commanding than Heaton, uses his size well, the opposite to Jensen.
Lowton 8 reliable as ever
Tark 9 big strong aggressive, streets ahead of Keane defensively.
Mee 9 excellent
Ward 6 really sloppy, his worst game in a Burnley shirt.
Brady 8 excellent cross for the goal.
Cork 9 makes it all look so easy, glides around the pitch. Everywhere
Defour 8 standard Defour
Hendrick 7 great player, worked tirelessly, fantastic ball into Barnes.
JBG 8 quiet going forward I thought but heroic defensively. Massive upgrade on Boyd who used to run back, JBG actually runs back and wins the ball.
Barnes 10- not his biggest fan but today was his best performance in a Burnley shirt.

Our best home performance in quite some time, really dull flat atmosphere though.

Why?
What would the atmosphere be like with Silva in charge?

I'm not sure why you quoted my post with hypothetical irrelevant guff to start an argument.

That pass late on... what...

Such vision that man has.
Without doing anyone down, he is the class act at this club, and I'm sure his quality brings the best out in others.

Not enjoyed a game so much for some time, lots of goal action, how we didn't have 4-5 before half time I do not know.

Pope 8 - love how he commands his area, pools Heats will be sat on the bench when he returns.
Lowton 8 - solid today working a in a solid back 5.
Mee 8 - not as obvious at the back today due to his partner.
Tarks 9 immense, was everywhere, watched the replay, not convinced he was offside for his goal.
Ward 7 just looked tired
Cork 9 - go on lad just rub their faces in it, great play for his goal.
Defour 9 - again he was just everywhere, looking better every game now he is Dyche fit.
Hendrick 7 like Ward looked tired, then took a knock to his ankle, hope he is ok.
Brady 8 great cross for the first.
JGB 8 - did everything he needed to, worked his socks off and some great play.
Barnes 9* - get in Barnsey lad, great hold up play as a one up front and you smashed it in

Excellent performance from a serious team. That league table is extraordinary.

Pope - 6 - Virtually untroubled, although his kicking was occasionally a bit wayward.

Lowton - 8 - Got forward effectively when he could, and shone defensively against a tricky customer in Sanchez, with a double block on the cover in the second half a particular highlight.

Ward - 6 - A couple of shaky moments, but generally solid enough.

Tarkowski - 8 - Strolled through another home game without having to break sweat. Would like to see the disallowed goal again because he didn't look off to me.

Mee - 7 - As Tarkowski, but perhaps without the finesse.

Cork - 8 - In the first half, and the last 20, absolutely majestic, and Clement must have shrunk into his dug out with every touch that reminded him what a ludicrous decision he made to get rid of him. A bit quieter in the first 25 minutes of the second half when we sat back a bit, but still a lovely performance.

Defour - 9 - Similar to Cork - a great first half and last 20, and a bit quiet in the early stages of the second half. But his passing when he was on it was so fabulously good at times, it was a joy to watch.

Hendrick - 8 - The pass for Barnes' goal was absolutely top notch - perfectly weighted and positioned. Unlucky more than once not to score when the ball didn't quite come down for him.

Gudmundsson - 8 - Not an enormous attacking threat, but got through a terrific amount of work and did plenty of neat linking of play.

Brady - 8 - think this might have been his best game for Burnley, superb cross for the opening goal, really dangerous set plays, and some really imaginative, incisive passes - not all of which came off, but plenty did - coupled with loads of good work off the ball.

Barnes - 8 - Took his goal with aplomb, led the line effectively and gave the Swansea defence a real head ache all afternoon. If we're being picky, he was a bit untidy on the counter attack more than once ass we looked to put the game beyond doubt in the latter stages, but this was still one of his best performances for us in ages.

Vokes - 6 - Didn't get into the game to any great extent.

If we're being really critical, we know there will be tighter games when we need to be more precise on the counter attack - this game should have finished three or four nil, so dominant were we and so well beaten were Swansea. But it has come to something when the biggest criticism we can offer is that we haven't thrashed a team in the Premier League. This game was won in a superb first half performance when we found a sustained tempo for long periods, particularly up until the first goal, that we've really struggled to achieve at times at home this season.

Swansea weren't very good, and looked there for the taking, but we were more than good enough to take advantage. These are times to be enjoyed - two of the top 7 meet at Turf Moor next Sunday and on this evidence, it will be an absolute cracker.

Pope 7 Well protected, but seems more commanding of his area game by game.
Lowton 8
Tarkowski 8
Mee 8
Ward 7
Gudmundsson 8
Defour 9. This guy is just pure class. Even when he makes a rare error, he covers it.
Cork 8
Brady 8
Hendrick 8
Barnes 9 (MoM). Close between a few others and Ash for MoM. But what a strike!
Could well be his best ever game for us today.

Pope 6 because had nothing to do
Lowton 8 Offered width first half and comfortable in defence
Ward 6 saw good and bad today
Tarks 7
Mee 7
Cork 8
Defour 9 I truly love to watch him play
JBG 8 good at both ends
Brady 9 I’ve been critical of him at home but thought he was excellent today and the cross was awesome
Hendrick 8 pressed well, threatened beyond their defence and a great pass for Barnes
Barnes 9 MoM an individual who frustrates me more than any other player and one I am usually most critical of, today Ash was brilliant

That first half was lovely to watch.

If Sam Clucas was meant to be a better option for Swansea than Jack Cork then I think they've just realised the error of their ways!!

A quality performance and you can see that this is a team who give everything for the cause. Should have scored more, some of our approach play was a joy to watch. These moments are ones to savour. Two well taken goals. Looking forward to next Sunday already, we are due a good result against Arsenal. Pinching myself that we are 7th, on goal difference with them. But we deserve it. Proud to be a Claret tonight.

Magnificent

Pope 7 - kicking not great
Ward 6 - wobbly at times, but probably needed a game to get his Irish performance out of his system
Tarkowski - 8 - strolled through it. Rolls Royce performance
Mee 7 - as above
Lowton 8 - outstanding, the double block in the 2nd half a particular highlight
Brady 8 - good cross for the goal, worked hard
Defour 9 - him and Cork are a match made in heaven
Cork 9 - as above
Hendrick 9 - best game for a while, great support for Barnes
JBG 8 - probably very annoyed that we couldn't be more clinical on the break, but did well
Barnes 9 - I said after the first five minutes "typical Barnes as lone striker, completely ineffective" and he then preceded to ram the words back down my throat with his best performance for us.

Vokes 6 - not really on it

Anyone who wants to can see our evolution as a premier league team. We picked them off, dominated them and should have won by a lot more than we did, but thats just being churlish as we looked every inch a top seven team on that performance.

Special mention for Renato Sanchez, who looked, played and acted like someone who'd had one good season and let it all get to him.

And I don't think Clement will be dancing down the touchline at Swansea much longer as well

Not giving individual marks. ALL excellent with NO weaknesses. Barnes MOM for goal and assist. Super performance

Lowton 8 Offered width first half and comfortable in defence
Ward 6 saw good and bad today
Tarks 7
Mee 7

Defour 9 I truly love to watch him play
JBG 8 good at both ends
Brady 9 I’ve been critical of him at home but thought he was excellent today and the cross was awesome
Hendrick 8 pressed well, threatened beyond their defence and a great pass for Barnes
Barnes 9 MoM an individual who frustrates me more than any other player and one I am usually most critical of, today Ash was brilliant

That first half was lovely to watch.
Can't agree with your judgement of Brady being excellent
His cross for the goal was excellent but apart from that he was our poorest performer by far

CBT to be fair you don’t need to agree as it’s only my opinion.

But for what it’s worth I thought he kept possession well, showed a decent and composed touch, worked back well to help ward and intercept the ball, was a lively outlet, played a number of positive forward passes, whipped a few good quality corners in and was effective in what he did.

Certainly not our poorest performer.

Pope 8 (actually makes me feel safer than the great Tom Heaton as he leaves his line and commands the box more)
Lowton 8 (as good as I've seen him)
Tarks 9
Mee 8
Ward 7 (an Irish hangover of sorts)
Defour 8
Cork 9 (why exactly were Swansea prepared to sell - at ANY price?? Bizarre bit of business)
JBG 9 *MOM (as good as I've seen him for us)
Brady 7 (I really can't work this chap out
Hendrick 7
Barnes 9 (not the most gifted striker around, but after x number of seasons at Burnley and one very serious injury he still IS around and that says everything. I do like him, but he'd never be my choice as a lone striker, but boy did he have a good game today)

We played very well today, pretty much to a man and could and should have scored more. Swansea were poor at the back and are clearly lacking confidence throughout the team with a manager who is a dead man walking. Thus it was a good time to play them. Strangely, they looked very good in midfield and once Bony came on they were threatening in attack. We elected to keep what we'd got in the second half and play on the break to some extent without going all out and in truth it worked. However, had Swansea got one it could all have been very jittery and we should have buried them!
PS. Abraham is rubbish and if he can play for England so can Stuart Ripley!!
