I reckon that Ashley Barnes derives his strength from his hair a bit like Samson. That hair transplant is growing in nicely and his performances are reflecting this.

The signing of Wood has improved both Ash & Sam.
That's why managers want big squads, they all bring each other on having to fight for the shirt.
Immense performance from him today and he didn't give away as many silly FKs.

Should have had a hat trick and should have played Vokes and JBG for goals.
Well taken goal all the same and nice of him to get off the mark for first time in nearly a year.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Thought he was superb first half but not great second half. The ball was not sticking up front and coming back too easily. Would have made the change earlier.
Re: Ashley Barnes
His best performance in a Burnley shirt, I thought he was fantastic. One good game doesn't make him a world beater though, even Sordell scored a cracker for us.

Just checked and he was until recently, he's 2nd to Vokes and ahead of Ings.

He's only started a few games since then and he's improving with each one, there isn't a lot between the strikers.KRBFC wrote:That was his first goal since Palace away
Good to see him get of the mark, although he's looked confident enough, they all have recently, tbf.

I get the feeling if we signed a striker and he scored 25 goals in a season we would still have certain posters complaining that he didn't get 30

Re: Ashley Barnes
Some very intelligent play from Ashley Barnes today.
Some of his lay-offs were more Dobson than Dobbin, which is how some on here see him.
Excellent game Ash, keep it up !

When saying daft, sarcastic things on the internet you need to say "would of" "should of" "cud of bin" etcWalton wrote:A proper striker would have had 5 today
It's more succinct.

Only Ashley Barnes could lose possession in a completely sh*te manner such as that one where he kicked it over his head and then 20 yards in front of him and still get applause.
I think the reason Burnley fans like him is because he keeps them grounded, it's like yes, we're 7th in the PL, but we've still got a bloke who couldn't get in the side in the Championship playing for us.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Positive performance concentrated on getting the ball, holding it up and laying it off.
Smashing goal and played for the team.
He rightly gets criticised in my opinion, because more often than not he is looking for a foul and throws himself to the floor looking for one more often than not and can be very petulant, which can have a detrimental effect on his play and that of the teams. Today when he was fouled it was because it was a foul, he bossed their centre halves and concentrated on playing football. If he played like this every week he would be first choice, the thing is he doesn't, so he isn't. Credit where credit is due though, deservedly MOM.
