All because of the terrible pound, which fell significantly against other currencies after Brexit.

Slow hand clap.

Here's a good comment from the article
Comments seem a bit scarce....

But before an avalanche of brexiteers tell us this proves their case, lets remember:

1. One engine of this is the cheap pound, which was indeed caused by the brexit vote. But as well as making our exports cheaper, that makes our imports more expensive. We import far more manufactured goods than we export.

2. The vast majority of our exports go to the EU. No deal, or a "hard" brexit, would most likely make those less competitive.

Do the 'vast majority' of our manufacturing exports go to the EU?

It was a huge fundamental brexit. Its been on the road to pre brexit levels ever since despite laughs that it wouldn't recover.

Yeah the flip side comes when you need to import raw materials once the current stock has been used and they're really expensive.

We're also, as of this moment, still in the EU.

44% of goods exports go to the EU, compared with 48% of total goods and services exports. Not what I'd call a avast majority. Not what I'd call a majority at all, in fact

So you can find a negative or conversely a positive either way.
More importantly can you explain to me why the EU want us to pay 53 Billion over 2 years to maintain a trading partnership where we have a 40 Billion deficit yearly.
Which is basically to cover the amounts we were paying anyway before Brexit.
Why are we to, and were previously, paying up to 53 Billion for them to receive 80 Billion pounds more than they buy?
Merkel is now paying for her immigration folly, and Germany has the most to lose in a trade stalemate

Yet there the Tories are, making the UK the laughing stock of the world with their 42.4% share of the vote majority.

Anyway let's celebrate that areas like ours should benefit from this post brexit boom. And the fact that we'd have an extra 500,000 unemployed by now, have been proven to be just more whoppers peddled by the likes of Clegg, Farron, Osborne and Cameron.

Regardless of what George Osborne said prior to the vote, it doesn't mean my comment is any less true. Whichever way you look at it the short term benefits of a weaker GBP will be negated in the long run when manufacturers need to import raw materials, it's just basic economics. However, feel free to deliberately misinterpret this news if that's your bag.

It's not complicated.

Operation Lie promised us economic Armageddon if we simply had the neck to VOTE to leave. We voted Leave and what they said have been proven to be lies. Just like Osbornes threat of an emergency budget the morning after a VOTE to leave. Not the act of leaving just the act of voting for it.

Slightly odd that you seem to believe everyone who voted remain believed everything they were told by people like Cameron and Osbourne but there you go.

No it's just that my entire job revolves around importing and exporting so I know how foolish it is to start wetting myself with excitement at what is essentially just a short term effect of currency fluctuation. Given that little to no importing/exporting happens at the job centre I can't imagine you'd understand ;)

This would be good news for the economy. Not only would it raise the £2bn estimated, it might well flush out some duckers and divers who aren't paying much of any kind of tax as they get squeezed into compliance. I have no idea why VAT is not chargeable for gardening services or haircuts if they are a one man band - but once there are two or three people in the company, it is. And no, VAT compliance is not hard - the small-business oriented flat-rate scheme is extremely simple.

I'm surprised the Remainers aren't all in favour of this move; only Singapore has a higher VAT registration threshold than the current UK level and we are constantly being told we must be "not Singapore" in the future. Current EU average is about £25k. Whatever the EU are doing is right, isn't that the theory?

Or would you prefer to wallow in Remoaner self loathing!?

And I'm not employed at the job centre. I've been happily self employed for 10 years. Poor attempt at sneering there!

As for any bed wetting. I'll leave that to the gaggle of hard core Remoaners on here who try and me seize upon anything that can be remotely seen as negative when it come to brexit. They lose all self control.

I'd love to engage Ringo's self employed services, and then simply not pay him

WHERE'S YOUR FAMOUS GRAPHS !!!!

He had them posted on an hourly basis from the turtle bunker when the stock market fell the day after the referendum.

It was unequivocal evidence that the economy had fine what the lying Remoaners had said it would do and crashed!!!

Since its reached record levels he doesn't seen to be able to supply them at such a frantic rate!

Where's the one for the news on manufacturing since 1988 I wonder?

BRING OUT YER GRAPHS...... BRING OUT YER GRAPHS....

The very fact that Brexit hasn't actually happened yet should be an indicator as to how exactly it's effecting us in the immediate sense. I.E - it isn't really.

Pro's and Con's will only be quantifiable years and years after everything has been sorted out.

All this point scoring is just childish balls for political point scoring, remoaners vs brexiteers etc.

Good read though. 10/10

Whereas you would never seize upon anything that could be seen as remotely positive in your support of Brexit would you?

As for you losing all self control, perish the thought!

RM in his current mode reminds of a fellow that lives near me.

I voted 'remain' although I don't pretend I know all there is to know on the subject, or indeed that I'm 'right'. He voted to leave. On the day the result was announced he came up to me and said 'you were wrong' whilst adopting a goal scored celebrating posture.

I just thought 'what a nutter' and walked off.

yes. either that or an incoherent babbling pisshead who repeats the same meaningless phrases ad infinitum because he doesn't know how to form a coherent argument or debate in an adult way.
