All because of the terrible pound, which fell significantly against other currencies after Brexit.

Re: More post brexit referendum good news!!!!
Here's a good comment from the article
Comments seem a bit scarce....
But before an avalanche of brexiteers tell us this proves their case, lets remember:
1. One engine of this is the cheap pound, which was indeed caused by the brexit vote. But as well as making our exports cheaper, that makes our imports more expensive. We import far more manufactured goods than we export.
2. The vast majority of our exports go to the EU. No deal, or a "hard" brexit, would most likely make those less competitive.
Re: More post brexit referendum good news!!!!
Do the 'vast majority' of our manufacturing exports go to the EU?

It was a huge fundamental brexit. Its been on the road to pre brexit levels ever since despite laughs that it wouldn't recover.

Yeah the flip side comes when you need to import raw materials once the current stock has been used and they're really expensive.
We're also, as of this moment, still in the EU.

44% of goods exports go to the EU, compared with 48% of total goods and services exports. Not what I'd call a avast majority. Not what I'd call a majority at all, in factHipper wrote:Do the 'vast majority' of our manufacturing exports go to the EU?

Re: More post brexit referendum good news!!!!
So you can find a negative or conversely a positive either way.
More importantly can you explain to me why the EU want us to pay 53 Billion over 2 years to maintain a trading partnership where we have a 40 Billion deficit yearly.
Which is basically to cover the amounts we were paying anyway before Brexit.
Why are we to, and were previously, paying up to 53 Billion for them to receive 80 Billion pounds more than they buy?
Merkel is now paying for her immigration folly, and Germany has the most to lose in a trade stalemate

Regardless of what George Osborne said prior to the vote, it doesn't mean my comment is any less true. Whichever way you look at it the short term benefits of a weaker GBP will be negated in the long run when manufacturers need to import raw materials, it's just basic economics. However, feel free to deliberately misinterpret this news if that's your bag.RingoMcCartney wrote:But we were told that the simple act of voting Leave, not actually leaving would see" confidence in the UK economy evaporate over night.

It's not complicated.
Operation Lie promised us economic Armageddon if we simply had the neck to VOTE to leave. We voted Leave and what they said have been proven to be lies. Just like Osbornes threat of an emergency budget the morning after a VOTE to leave. Not the act of leaving just the act of voting for it.
Are you trying to pretend not to understand cos you'd prefer to join Lancaster Claret and the rest of the dwindling number of bewildered Remoaners wondering why it all hasn't gone wrong yet!
You were so sure that the sky was going to fall in economically, and by now you'd be proven right. Well it simply hasn't happened.

Re: More post brexit referendum good news!!!!
This would be good news for the economy. Not only would it raise the £2bn estimated, it might well flush out some duckers and divers who aren't paying much of any kind of tax as they get squeezed into compliance. I have no idea why VAT is not chargeable for gardening services or haircuts if they are a one man band - but once there are two or three people in the company, it is. And no, VAT compliance is not hard - the small-business oriented flat-rate scheme is extremely simple.Lancasterclaret wrote:VAT threshold for small businesses might drop in the budget, possibly down to £43000
I'm surprised the Remainers aren't all in favour of this move; only Singapore has a higher VAT registration threshold than the current UK level and we are constantly being told we must be "not Singapore" in the future. Current EU average is about £25k. Whatever the EU are doing is right, isn't that the theory?

The very fact that Brexit hasn't actually happened yet should be an indicator as to how exactly it's effecting us in the immediate sense. I.E - it isn't really.
Pro's and Con's will only be quantifiable years and years after everything has been sorted out.
All this point scoring is just childish balls for political point scoring, remoaners vs brexiteers etc.
Good read though. 10/10

As for any bed wetting. I'll leave that to the gaggle of hard core Remoaners on here who try and me seize upon anything that can be remotely seen as negative when it come to brexit. They lose all self control.
Whereas you would never seize upon anything that could be seen as remotely positive in your support of Brexit would you?
As for you losing all self control, perish the thought!

Strange behaviour.
I voted 'remain' although I don't pretend I know all there is to know on the subject, or indeed that I'm 'right'. He voted to leave. On the day the result was announced he came up to me and said 'you were wrong' whilst adopting a goal scored celebrating posture.
I just thought 'what a nutter' and walked off.
