Why was this never come back to?
On 27 July 2007, Burnley revealed plans for a £20 million redevelopment of Turf Moor. The plans also included the creation of a youth academy at the club's training facility at Gawthorpe Hall in nearby Padiham. The plans were detailed in six phases. In the first phase it was planned to move the changing rooms to the corner between the James Hargreaves Stand and the Jimmy McIlroy Stand. The second phase included the demolition of the Cricket Field Stand, a new stand to be built at that end of the ground that would incorporate a hotel, a restaurant and a newly constructed cricket pavilion, and would be able to accommodate 2,500 fans. The redevelopments also included the construction of a multi-storey car park adjacent to the stadium. Other planned improvements include a new club superstore and other retail outlets, and new business offices on the site of the current club shop. Revealed in the fifth phase was a transformation of the Bob Lord Stand, which will eventually house a multi-screen cinema. The development of a second tier on the Bob Lord stand was later revealed by Burnley chief executive Paul Fletcher, taking the anticipated capacity of Turf Moor to 28,000 spectators.
I’ve found this on the Turf Moor wiki and I’m just curious why we’ve never come back to it? It says £20 million and it can’t be lack of funds as a we’ve just sold Keane for more than that and also give Dyche £45 million to spend each summer so why haven’t we come back to it?

20 million in 2007 now would be 26 million so not out of the question. perhaps gawthorpe has drained resources a bit or perhaps the funds are being redirected into players. Would you settle for a cool drinks dispenser?

Re: Why was this never come back to?
A lot of that looks ill thought out.
Rebuild the CFS with a pavilion built in?
Where is the multi storey car park going?
As for the Bob lord, to incorporate a cinema and another tier it would probably need knocking down and starting again.
You'd have to justify that to the council because Burnley already has a cinema...
Easier to just be glad it wasn't done.

We didn't get enough Asian weddings pre-booked for it to be financially viable.

To be fair god was in charge at the time and the majority of burnley fans believed the hype ...anything was possible! With hindsight it was.Sidney1st wrote:A lot of that looks ill thought out.

With the aggro that occurred when there was an Asian function at TM, it probably wasn't worth the hassle.mickleoverclaret wrote:We didn't get enough Asian weddings pre-booked for it to be financially viable.
It got a bit boring having to dodge the young moronic men trying their best to rag around in high performance cars they'd hired.

There have probably been hundreds of these functions at TM. Guessing you've been present at them all?Sidney1st wrote:With the aggro that occurred when there was an Asian function at TM, it probably wasn't worth the hassle.

Wasn’t it aimed at Travellers weddings because they are banned from everywhere else.
Could have been a flawed idea as soon as we had to ban them!

Re: Why was this never come back to?
Nope, but when we lived behind TM, you'd know when certain events were on because the long driveway from behind the CFS to the main road was a mini drag strip, followed by a quick thrashing up past the firestation.bfccrazy wrote:There have probably been hundreds of these functions at TM. Police always knew it was happening but were always "busy" on the day, usually a weekend day.

Nothing to do with Fletcher - he was working for Coventry at the time.tim_noone wrote:Hot air from Paul fletcher.

Personally I prefer the present dog eared look to the stadium; it kind of gives me a link back to when my grandad walked through the same turnstiles. Keep it as it is!

Look at the slope on the pitch on the bottom image! We'd never have got anywhere training on a pitch like that!

Fletcher was appointed Development Director in December 2007.
I would say the plans were drawn up well before his arrival.

Re: Why was this never come back to?
It simply MUST be done!
Gary Neville said last night with reference to West Ham leaving the Boleyn that Clubs can no longer play in these antiquated stadiums because the FANS want much more as part of their matchday experience.
Now is that a statement from someone with a vested interest in pre match facilities, or someone in touch with the fans?
Come on then, who is for a new Turf Moor?
I'll start, NOT ME!

Re: Why was this never come back to?
We have had a few plans of stadium redevelopment, but they never come to fruition, this one , bread bin stand (thank god) changing room block in corner of stands, even the most recent one has only been half done with the shop being built, what's happened to the other side, it looks a damn mess now as you walk up to what is meant to be our main stand on harry Potts way

Not half built, they might have put some photo shop drawings out but there were never any plans to build on the other sideTurfytop wrote:even the most recent one has only been half done with the shop being built, what's happened to the other side, it looks a damn mess now as you walk up to what is meant to be our main stand on harry Potts way

Yes to the first one, and I'm getting sick to the back teeth of it, and no to the second because Fletcher was NOT at Burnley when the plans referred to in this thread were released by the club.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Stalking you hahahahahahahahaha

Just replace the bloody cladding and put new signs up. It’s not difficult or expensive in the scheme of things. Power wash that wall where the player pictures are too.
It looks a disgrace when you walk up Harry potts Way.

...Because it's a prat's idea of what football is. Burnley fans generally have played football and like to watch how it's done i.e usually in bloody cold outdoor conditions where you get to have an outdoor sport experience and you look forward to getting home for your dinner after, each with their personal fantasies.
You can't try and work out something you're not, it's like the Chinese now having 'Power Station Art' in a bid to suss it all out or visiting George Best's council house in N.I. in the hope of sipping from the elixir of how the magic trick developed.

Alan Stevensonsgloves, you obviously never played at Highmoor in your youth.
