Struggling for a MOM. Any one from 3 (Lowton, Gudmundsson and Cork)

WE did not deserve to lose that game, yet we come away empty-handed :(

Pope 7 - nothing but was close to the pen.
Lowton 7 - solid enough
Tarks 6 - good but pen brings rating down
Mee 8 - solid
Ward 7 - solid
Gudmundsson 10 - increadible signing, outstanding
Cork 9 - very good signing
Defour 7 - quieter than usual
Hendrick 7 - quiet, a young CAM in January would give competition which could make our team. Will Hughes at derby or pascal Gros at Brighton are examples.
Brady 9 - good attacking and defensive today. Some crossing free kicks and corners should be given to Defour/Gudmundsson though.
Barnes 7- not as good as Swansea but worked hard as usual.

Pope 7
Lowton 6 started poor then improved
Tarks 8 even with the pen
Mee 8
Ward 7
JBG 9 MoM
Defour 8
Cork 6 poorest match of the season, looked lightweight against their bigger boys.
Hendrick 7
Brady 8 but he has to be taken off deadballs , unless he's shooting. His delivery is woeful.
Barnes 8 impressive again.

Pope 7
Lowton 7
Tarka 6 (would’ve been 8 but points deducted for the obvious, which cost us dearly)
Mee 7
Ward 7
Jbg 9 superb.
Cork 8 everywhere. Great engine.
D4 7 (puzzling sub)
Hendrick 5 (poor. did he touch the ball? Crying out for subbing off)
Brady 6 (moments of class, more moments that aren’t)
Barnes 8 (worked his socks off and caused problems. First line of defence)

Lads worked hard, we are used to that. We need to work hard against teams like this, so no problem there. It’s the decision making of certain players that needs to improve.

This to add, arsenal were celebrating their penalty like they’d scored against spurs, that alone tells us how they got away with that today. And also, how far we have come. That first half was as good as I’ve seen against a side with this quality.

That first half was probably the best half of football I have seen from a Burnley team. An absolute joy to watch.
Gutted by the result and it was clear that the referee would always be quick to make a key decision on behalf of Arsenal.
But shouldn’t take anything away from an immense performance from our boys.

Not “someone”. Me. Almost invisible. As I asked, did he touch the ball? I know it’s a team game, and everyone has their job, but I struggled to see jeffs worth today. No link between him and Barnes, and defensively absent. Maybe 5 was harsh, but I want a little more from him. He stood out as weak to me. Difficult to criticise after that performance, but I’m not wearing my claret specs, and I’m not a of the opinion that we should be delighted just because we are “little old plucky Burnley” and given the arse a run for their money.

All about opinions though, and if you thought he was a 9, fair enough. As long as you think he WAS an nine, and you’ve not just got carried away with an excellent all round team performance.

As many will know, and I may have 'over-egged' him at times, JBG is my favourite current player: he lights up games, he makes things happen and he gives us speed and direct attacking play. Most importantly, he's getting better and better and better. What a shift today!

I'm with Bobinho, I almost forgot Hendrick was there for a while.

As for someone mentioning Hughes at Derby, he's now at Watford.

8 across the board for me, really difficult to pick a motm but if I must it will be Joey with a 9.

Proud of their efforts today and after reading that article earlier this week about how our team cut chances down for opposition I watched more closely and it's a spot on article.

Stunning performance from Burnley, absolutely heartbreaking not to get the point we richly deserved, or the three that we were the most deserving of than our opponents.

Pope - 7 - Solid, punched and caught well when he had to, but in truth he wasn't involved that much.

Lowton - 8 - Got up and down the line with real panache and produced a number of excellent crosses.

Tarks - 8 - He gave Mason the opportunity to give the penalty, and he didn't need to, but it was cruel on him because he was absolutely superb in the second half in particular. Done for pace a couple of times in the first half, but that reflected our confidence and willingness to commit men forwards at the cost of protection for the centre backs.

Mee - 9 - As Tarkowski, but without the rick for the goal, and not exposed for pace in quite the same way.

Cork - 8 - Grew into the game and was at the heart of our best stuff as we began to dominate the first half as it wore on.

Defour - 6 - Let down by a silly early booking (even if the same treatment wasn't applied to Arsenal players who committed the identical offence), and whilst his passing was a real asset on occasions, he became a bit of a liability defensively because he knew he couldn't make a tackle.

Hendrick - 8 - Our best player for much of the second half, until he dropped back into alongside Cork and wasn't quite as effective, and the balance of our midfield was probably the best its been all season at home. Probably ought to have taken on the shot on a couple of occasions in the first half.

JBG - 9 - Absolutely stupendous in the first half when he was the stand out player on the pitch, taking players on, getting into pockets of space and looking really strong collecting the ball with his back to goal in the space between the lines. Less effective as we dropped deeper in the second half, but his shift and tenacity came to the fore then instead.

Brady - 8 - A huge influence in the first half as the fluidity and intensity of our attacking play was an absolute joy to watch. Produced a string of threatening set plays in the first half, but the standard dropped a little as the second half wore on.

Barnes - 7 - Worked his socks off and gave us a real presence, holding the ball and winning free kicks (although Monreal in particular got away with plenty of pushes as significant as Tarkowski's that weren't punished).

Wood - 6 - Not able to get into the game, and whilst the move to 4-4-2 made some sense, it wasn't as effective as it has been and we became uncohesive, not that this was Wood's fault.

The argument about the penalty will rage on - Mason was ludicrously inconsistent for both teams with pushes all through the game, so logically, he'd have erred against giving the biggest decision of the game, but it was perhaps inevitable he would give it given his approach to game management throughout (i.e. favouring Arsenal). It certainly sticks, but these things happen.

We should probably focus on what was in every other respect the most fantastic afternoon at Turf Moor. The first half in particular was an absolute joy - crackling atmosphere, the team playing with a pace and intensity that Arsenal found hard to live with for long periods, Burnley generally playing the game they wanted to play - letting Arsenal have the ball at times but allowing them no way to use it effectively, then launching rapier- quick breaks through Brady, JBG and Hendrick and then pinning Arsenal back with really good pressing. The team work both with and without the ball was top notch. This was a serious game between two of the better teams in the country.

If we're being critical, perhaps we should have been more willing to pull the trigger a few times, especially given the slippery conditions. And in the second half, as it wore on we began to get a bit too deep - a bit more like last season's Burnley than this season's - and the change to 442 didn't work on this occasion. The goal was probably coming a bit if we are honest, however undeserved it might have been.

But if we play like that for the rest of the season - and more importantly maintain our level of improvement - we're going to be sticking in the top 7 or 8 for a long while yet. Serious team, this.

Find these comments extraordinary. Produced the pass of the match to release Ward in the second half, and was at the heart of our attacking play throughout.

Can only think these comments are based on the fact he doesn't launch into the tackles that his position on the pitch means are an option for him more often that for most of our players. Which as we all know by now, is because he's following instructions.

Pope 7 Nothing to do
Lowton 8
Tarks 9 If that was a pen then every game would have 20.
Mee 9
Ward 7
JBG 9
Cork 7 Poor first half
Defour 8
Brady 8
Hendrick 6 was invisible for a long time
Barnes 8 worked very hard and had one touch that commentator said Messi would have proud of. Also fouled some many times yet no yellow for defender.

Wood 6

Mason. 0 Defour yellow for comment. Sanchez not for identical offence. Blatant handball by Koz what ever he is called. Jumped and raised his arms to block shot. This referee needs to made to feel extremely unwelcome if he ever refs at Turf again.Clear touch by Czech to defy JBG. Goal kick given !!!

When Dyche says he is raging you know something is seriously wrong with the officials.

Pope 7 (only because he didn’t have much to do again)
Lowton 8
Tarkowski 8 (would have been 9 but for mistake for penalty)
Mee 8
Ward 8
JBG 9*
Defour 8
Cork 8
Brady 8
Hendrick 7
Barnes 7

First half was best we have played all season with high tempo pressing and quality on the ball. Second half we let the energy levels drop and sat off them too much.

I think that people need to realise who the opposition were before judging our players. We played bloody well today and it took an error in judgement in the last minute to take away a well earned point from us. Arsenal are a quality side with an tough, hardworking ethic. I think it says how far we have come that we never really looked out of our depth.

Pope 7 Not much to do and damned near saved the pen.
Lowton 7 Solid game.
Tarkowski 7 (The prem is a hard place and this will be a lesson learned for Big James)
Mee 8 Solid game.
Ward 8 Solid game
Gudmundsson 9* Excellent game.
Defour 7 Not much ball today but used it well when in possession.
Cork 7 Not his best game and his lack of pace was exposed today.
Brady 7 Always wants the ball but his dead ball deliveries were not that good today.
Hendrick 7 Worked hard.
Barnes 8 Did well against a very tough Gooner defence. One piece of control in the 2nd half when under considerable pressure was superb. His game has really come on in recent weeks and I feel he is going to a different level.

Wood 6 Not much impact but TBH the tactics were a mess when he came on IMHO.

Pope 7 - Not really tested but punched well and oozed confidence
Lowton 8 - playing really well at the moment - linked up really well with JBG
Tarkowski 8 - outstanding and unlucky with the pen (he hardly touches the sheep shagger) but should have known he'd go down and mason would **** himself to give it
Mee 9 - Outstanding again.
Ward 8 - some lovely interplay at times going forward
JBG 9 (MOM) - I thought he was dynamite in the first half and although less effective in the second still gave us a terrific outlet
Defour 7 - kept it ticking over
Cork 8 - looking every bit a player worth twice what we paid (Defour too)
Hendrick 8 - really strong today - drove forward well and used the ball neatly - some super passes to open it up.
Brady 9 - thought he was terrific first half where he terrorised them.
Barnes 7 - a strong performance from Ash but a real chance to drive into the box in the 2nd half was wasted. Linked play really well though

Wood 6 -not really on long enough and struggled to get into the game but we dropped deeper so made it harder for him

That was a top 4 performance and after our recent run shows that finishing in a European place is probably not beyond this side - especially if we can add some more quality in January.

Don't understand the low ratings for Hendrick thought he worked really hard today and his passes and movement were excellent

Spot on magic rat, my vote is the same as yours. 4-4-1-1 formation is working well. Hendrick is giving 100% but I think would like to see Brady or Wells playing behind the striker. Very difficult decision to drop anyone but I think the time has come to involve Nahki Wells.

Pope - 7 - Good

Lowton - 8 - Really good with the ball today
Tarkowski - 7 - Good for 91 minutes and lost his head at the end
Mee - 8 - They found it really hard to get past it
Ward - 7 - Same as Lowton

JBG - 9 - Wow. Tore them apart in the first half
Cork - 6 - Not great today
Defour - 8 - Constantly found pockets of space. Hardly misplaced a pass
Hendrick - 8 - Played really nicely today. His work off the ball can't be faulted. Closes players down instantly
Brady - 8 - Good in open play but set pieces were poor.

Barnes - 7 - Did decent all game. Stayed motivated despite being frustrated at times

Think people are being really harsh on Hendrick. Thought he was comfortable with the ball and made some brilliant passes.

Hendrick 5 (poor. did he touch the ball? Crying out for subbing off)
Brady 6 (moments of class, more moments that aren’t)

Seriously!

Siding with some of the people who thought there were a couple of ordinary performances in an otherwise outstanding performance.

Pope - 7 - really nothing to do, but commanding when he had to be
Lowton - 8 - looked very strong today both defensively and in tight situations going forward
Tarks - 7 - sorry, but the push on Ramsey was madness, lets stop blaming the ref, he also almost cost us a goal in the 1st half when he lost his man but Ramsey missed. Would guess Southgate concluded high potential, but....
Mee - 8 - great as always, bet Gareth Southgate just wishes that his distribution was better
Ward - 8 - quitter than usual going forward but still very good
JBG - 9 - was exciting every time he got the ball - MOM
Defour - 9 - at the centre of all the defensive cover and much of our creative approaches
Cork - 8 - he has been so good recently, I thought this was a notch below
Hendrick - 6 - agree with some on here that this was not a game he shone in
Brady - 6 - if anyone reads this I am expecting criticism, but he could easily have got a second yellow, I think his challenge in the box was likely a penalty and several of his dead ball efforts were not just average but poor - between free kicks and corners he had 10-12 opportunities today and how many were decent? 2-3?
Barnes - 8 - not his rampaging Swansea performance but still good, too bad about the second half opportunity when he was one on one.

Pope 8
Lowton 8
Ward 9
Mee 9
Tarkowski 8 (would have been a 10 but for the late costly push)
Gudmundsson 10
Cork 8
Defour 8
Hendrick 8
Brady 7 (a tad wasteful)
Barnes 8

Wood 7

A magnificent afternoon only ruined by being Masonated. As Dyche implies, yes there may have been a minor nervy touch by Tarks, but Mason had the air of someone desparate to give a big decision in Arsenals favour. He had let things like that go all day long. These substandard refs at this level (as opposed to the good ones) seem terrified of upsetting these big six. Question - if Barnes had not been offside, would the huge shove on him (when he went for a diving header) have been given as a penalty? My guess is no.

Burnley were superb, Gudmundsson was as good as he had any right to be, as good he he can possibly play I imagine. Defensively we protected Pope far more than against any top six side in our four seasons. Offensively we caused them a lot of problems and could have had one or two. If we get relegated I will eat my hat.

Pope 8
Lowton 8
Tarkowski 8 unlucky to catch Ramsey's heel and stumble into him.
Mee 8
Ward 8
Brady 8
Gudmundsson 9 - I thought he had quality when we won the championship at Charlton and was looking good last season until he got crocked against Lincoln. Now he is kicking on again, his best performance for us. Bargain.
Defour 8
Cork 8
Hendrick 8
Barnes 8

Our best performance of the season so far.

Pope - 7 hardly a save to make, handling and punching under pressure was first class

Lowton - 8 in great form right now

Tarkowski - 8 never a penalty. Gutted for him as he was immense again.

Mee - 8 also immense

Ward - 8 put last week well behind him with this performance

Cork - 8 extra point for applauding mason after the goal

Defour - 8 should have pointed at the big screen when mason booked him as it was showing he was right to protest.

Gudmundsson- 9 best game he's had for us and one of the best performances from a Burnley 'winger' for some time.

Brady- 8 not far behind BIG

Hendrick - 8 there were a couple of times he could have taken the shot on but he was lively throughout and played some incisive passes

Barnes - 8 his first touch bringing down pope's goal kick in the 2nd half was top drawer. On a couple of occasions he underhit his pass or played it too early but he didn't give their back line a moment's peace and it led to some dangerous free kicks.

An absolute disgrace that we lost this game against the 12 men of arsenal as it was one we deserved to win. Mason has always been a crap referee but this 'performance' took the ****. He's been consistently poor over the years but I genuinely think the guy is taking bungs now. He's a blight on the game.

It's gutting for us as, especially in the first half, we'd taken the game to arsenal, playing some superb high tempo passing football. Cech kept them in the game and mason has gifted them 3 points at the death. They had about 15 mins of pressure at the starting the 2nd half but otherwise it was pretty even.

Cracking game of football ruined by a bona fide cheat.

Pope - 8
Lowton - 8
Tarkowski - 8
Mee - 8
Ward - 8
Gudmundsson - 9 - Arsenal couldn't get near him in the first half. He was unplayable, he was that good. A joy to watch.
Defour - 8
Cork - 8
Brady - 8
Hendrick - 8
Barnes - 8

After todays refereeing performance, I'm convinced more than ever before that there are different refereeing rules applied to the top 6 teams vs. the rest of the Premiership. Look at the number of times that Arsenal pushed our players, time-wasted and dived to con the referee. How many opportunities did Mason have to give yellow cards out? And did he do it?? Not seen the penalty close up yet, so won't comment on that but I did feel that the longer the game went on at 0-0, there was a strong chance of Arsenal scoring a goal from a penalty. It is sad to be saying that.

On to the positives, excellent performance, the first half alone was superb. Lots of quick incisive play, we frustrated them and disrupted their passing and pushed them back. We more than held our own against them, I thought we had the best chances and deserved a draw. Carry on like this and we will finish top half. There's no disgrace in that performance at all. This team is starting to develop into a very good unit.

I am amazed by all the comments blaming Tarks for `losing his head ` etc. I watched live on tv and none of the replays showed a push in the back. Maybe it looked different at the game ? Without a doubt Mason and Ramsey cheated oh and Wenger could see it was 100% a penalty. Utter BS
