JBG
Worthy of his own thread. Excellent today, what a bargain price too. Looked dangerous and does the dirty work.

The only Arsenal player on that pitch better than him today was Sanchez; just.

Endless whining aside, Sanchez barely put a foot wrong all game. Very hard to play against, everytime we've played him.Pimlico_Claret wrote:Rubbish, JBG isn't a whinging little cheat

Re: JBG
Brilliant on the ball but doesnt come and show for the ball enough for me and as a result goes missing a bit when we dont have much possession and we arent able to give him the ball exactly where he wants it
Brady is the opposite in that he's always involved and always looking to receive the ball under pressure which really helps Defour and Cork look to play the ball through the midfield. Unfortunately his use of the ball is nowhere near as good as JBGs and he can be very frustrating
If we could roll them into one player we'd have as good a winger as there us but then they wouldnt be playing for us.
Thought JBG was probably our best player first half be he seemed to barely touch it 2nd half and surprised he got MOM the way he went missing for large parts of the game

Re: JBG
Thought he was superb. His strength and touch in tight areas in the first half were superb, and he got us playing some lovely stuff at times. He's a determined bugger too. Only thing is I think he probably should have scored when he got through one v one - not sure going high to the near post was necessarily the right option (good save though it was even if the linesman didn't see it!).
The way he played had a bit of Ings about it, and made me wonder if we might think about using him in the number 10 role sometimes if we want to go 4-4-2 later in games, particularly if we're playing on the counter attack as we were today. I think it might have been more effective today if we'd dropped him in there and brought Arfield on for Defour.

Each to their own opinion but he did little for me second half and in general I think he is less involved in the game than any of the other midfielders

Confident that we'll take points at Bournemouth.

He was terrific today. Involved in a lot of our really neat one-twos and passages of play. We passed Arsenal off the pitch first half - imagine that!!!

Re: JBG
I thought he was outstanding today, threatened them and worked his socks off to win the ball back. He is the closest around these days to an old fashioned winger. Gets better every week now he is getting more game time

Re: JBG
He was amazing today. His work rate for a flare player is second to none but his quality on the ball is fantastic. The ball he took out of the air from a fair height, just in front of the Longside, was absolutely fantastic. I love it at the moment where I struggle to choose MOM's because they all do something so well but I thought JBG just edged it today.

Re: JBG
Great in the 1st half probs best I’ve seen of him, though he does tend to go missing in the 2nd half I findand one player who I generally feel we need to upgrade .That said he’s playing v well atm and a well deserved MOM

(Just kidding!)
Hendrick is struggling a little bit at the moment but I'd play Arfield in behind the striker before JBG. JBG drives at the full back better than anyone in our squad IMO and I'd be reluctant to move him somewhere where he'd be squeezed more than he is at present. He looks like a poor man's Eden Hazard but (and I don't know if this is just my imagination) he seems to keep his head down which might be a bit of a problem if played centrally. Brady finds himself in some very good positions but I think he's got more help from Ward offensively than JBG has from Lowton which speaks to JBG's directness. We look really well balanced this season and it's through JBG and Brady finding form. Obviously Cork has had a massive impact in finding this balance but we're finding real drive and potency out wide.

Re: JBG
Reminds me of a quick Arfield. Grafts. Tricky. Eye for goal and a pass. Tracks back. Great aquisition. Was the best wide performance ive seen from a burnley winger in years. And came against a top club where he looked completely at home.

Incredible signing. We overplayed 5m or so for Brady but we underpayed 7m or so for him. Together we have two very good, technical and quite young wingers.
Re: JBG
Love this lad. He is an example of one of the rare players who can make 4-5-1 work because he knows where he should be more or less all the time. He is used to working hard for his country and now - touch wood - he's had a few months without injuries he's showing us why SD bought him. And like SD, Johann "gets" Burnley. I believe we paid barely £3m for him. Total bargain.

He's been a consistent starter in a team that are sitting 6th in the Premier League.

I understand what you are saying as I think he's a very good player - but if it wasn't deadline day I reckon we could have got him for about 10m - which would then be very good value.Indecisive wrote:Disagree completely.

Re: JBG
He continues to get better and although last season I wasn't his biggest fan, I am happy to say I most certainly am this season. It is apparent some of our signings need time to adapt to "OUR WAY", a few like Jack Cork for example get it instantly, so well done BFC again for developing what could be an Icelandic Diamond.

JBG particularly and Brady more recently have been pivotal to our good success in the last month or so and our attacking power.

He was 2.5m but that is effectively nothing in this league - and for a very good winger. Great dealSidney1st wrote:Bargain for £1 million.

Said in pre-season, he'd be picking up a lot of prizes at the player of the year bash! The standard response I got was that he wouldn't be in the team enough!!! He's an outstanding talent. He lights up games.
