The X Factor is total trash and well past its sell-by date. Over-produced karaoke singers trying, and failing, to disguise their lack of talent with vocal gymnastics that they are incapable of pulling off. The winner is decided before the live shows and the TV audience are totally manipulated to ensure that the premium rate telephone line revenues keep rolling in. Incredibly successful as a business model for Simon Cowell, but a waste of a weekend for anybody watching.

Last year it was Matt Terry (had to look it up). He's probably looking to follow Shane Ward into Corrie.

You didn't watch this year, I take it?

Both finalists were artists who had been writing and performing their own material for years, and it was this material which took them to the final, not covers or karaoke.

The guy who came third did play covers, but was an excellent singer and a very good guitarist.

Thought the Clitheroe Advertiser & Times' suggestion was a bit harsh on poor Grace, maybe it was because she turned her back on the Ribble Valley as was suggested earlier?

There's a bunch of very bitter people on here who've achieved pretty much the sum of nothing in their lives. Good luck to Grace in the future, really nice to see a young, local girl - who still speaks like one - do so well. Oh, and if the detractors had bothered watching it you'd also know that the winners, Rak-Su, came across as really good bunch of mates singing their own light-hearted songs.

If you don't like it, don't watch it. Surely a free programme on ITV that you can watch with your kids (and costs nothing to vote for) isn't that bad a thing?

Perfectly harmless programme if music for you is just something you buy at the supermarket with your other veg

Last night's viewing figures peaked at 5 1/2 million, a new record low for the X-Factor final.

It's never recovered popularity wise since Louis Walsh appeared to be being told who to vote off by a member of the production team ( Who was meant to be out of shot but was plainly visible when the camera angle changed)

I only watch the auditions, they're the funniest part. The rest is just crap. Ok singers killing classic songs then miming vote for me at the camera. It's pantomime stuff.

I'm glad she lost. The winners don't seem to do as well anyway, probably a blessing.
