Rugby League World Cup Final 2017..

Post by hampsteadclaret » Sat Dec 02, 2017 9:02 am

Australia vs England in Brisbane...kicking off in just a few minutes.

England hoping to become world champions for the first time...Australia are World Champions..

I think there have been 14 World Cups...Australia have been in 13 Finals, and have won ten of them - so we are up against it.. :o :?

'Come on England' - the teams are coming out.

James Graham gets smashed in the first tackle and gets up with blood streaming down his face and trying hard to disguise the fact that he's damaged his leg. Compare that to Aaron Ramsey and his swallow dive because somebody touched him. Would have been nice to see Ramsey take that first Aussie tackle.

Unfortunately, I can't see us winning this because the Aussies are a tough nut to crack.
We are giving it a good go, however, we have been in good positions twice and panic set in --more composure needed and we may just get the rewards ---come on England!

Very hard first half but we are definitely in the arm wrestle.

Come on England!

In Sydney watching this. Got to say the local interest is surprisingly small. I was in Brisbane for the Semi's last week and even there it was pretty niche. Then again mention Union and the locals change the subject to cricket.

The try they’ve scored came from an awful call by the ref. Woods dropped the ball

No try, good job, how it wasn't a pen up the other end. Even the Oz commentators are calling it.

This is a very brutal encounter, even by rugby standards.

We are still in this, c'mon England.

Truly gripping. You have to think we will fade in this last 20 minutes but it's a great game.

Not impressed with the referee at all, killing the game for me. Already difficult enough. :(

They are making 15yds every tackle because we wait for them at the 10yds and they push us back 5.
They meet us at 8yds and stop us.
Still in this though, just need the breaks.

They would struggle to get past the Aussies in a tank.
Formidable team but taken to the wire .

Fantastic game....very frustrating that we dropped the ball a few times early in the tackle count when in good field position. I thought we were the better team tbh but Australia are just so strong when it really matters. That ankle tap though !!.......

Hard luck England, the Aussies just had that extra 'nous' which they needed.
Absolutely cracking game and a little more composure could have seen us win that. They could not have given more ---England football team take note!!

For a 6-0 that was a cracking match...both sides out on their feet, nothing more to give, well played both teams.

When it comes to sport, those Aussies are usually not far away.

Rugby league is a game for fat lads who aren’t skillfull enough to play football played in towns which are too inconsequential to have a decent football team.

Leeds being a prime example.

Don’t cry into your bitter conyoviejo- it’s always good to beat the convicts at anything- just think we’ve more chance in a sport that requires skill rather than brute force which their criminal advantage gives them an unfair advantage.

If you can't see the merits in that sort of supreme endeavour Wilf Mbanga I pity you.

And I very, very much doubt you would be calling any of those 'fat lads' fat lads to their faces.

As with all professional sport nowadays they are very highly honed athletes, arguably all the more so in professional RL.

But, hey you know best.

It would appear from the honorable Mister Mbanga's emergence on this board that another troll has crawled out of wherever trolls live.
Five derogatory posts since he suddenly appeared last night to try to get a reaction. How sad are these individuals --only they really know.
They do seem to breed at a fast rate, there must be a cloning factory somewhere, shame they don't seem to have found a necessary part to try to complete their anatomy.

Nah just offering debate. I’m sorry if I have a different view to you. I never want England to lose at anything - and they put up a good performance i believe. Just don’t like rugby - posh or northern - and think it’s tedious in the extreme-particularly league where it’s five run in to each other’s then a kick to the quick lad.

I watched the rl wc final against the Aussies and those guys gave there all to a man. You have to a super fit and super human being to take that brutally for 80 minutes. They just kept going at each other tooth and nail and gave 100% every one of them
