Re: Visiting Uk for a white Christmas
I think HunterST_BFC has sorted something in regards to the match experience on New Years Day (as per http://www.uptheclarets.com/messageboar ... =2&t=23955" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), but I do believe that Dave still needs travel from Cardiff to Burnley - I did offer initially but my good lady has organised other plans for me on NYD, so I am currently trying to persuade her otherwise, but its not looking promising for me so far...Sidney1st wrote:Any updates to this one?

Hmm ok, I'll email davemanu and see what we can sort out, might require some jiggling about but I can probably work something out with him.

Re: Visiting Uk for a white Christmas
I've had a look and there a couple of ways we can do this.
If he can get on a train to Didcot, it's about an hour's trip and I can bring him up with me and back down again.
I can take a different route and go up the M5 and get him from somewhere that way if he gets either dropped off or a train to somewhere this side of the bridge..
I'd prefer not to have to go directly into Cardiff, it would be a killer of a journey for me, especially with my 3 lads in the car.

Re: Visiting Uk for a white Christmas
I met Mick Stevens many years ago through the old forum. He sorted me some England tickets out and went out of his way to get them to me. Top man.davemanu2000 wrote:Thank you all for offering me your tickets . if ever i would come to your beautiful town ,I would come alone . My wife is not an amateur of football . But she knows that my favourite English club is Burnley .
i am not coming to St albans as my brother in law is in Mauritius .
I would be ever grateful to any Claret who can bring me to Burnley for the match on New Year Day .
it is a fact that i became a Burnley fan when they visited Mauritius in 1954 . i was too young and I could not afford to travel to King Geoege V Stadium to any of their six matches they played here .
Only yesterday i sent about 30 greeting cards to the Chaiman ,other staff and leading players of Burnley who are engaged in PL matches . i do it almost every year because i love BURNLEY FC .
the first time when I came to Burnley I was greeted by late Frank Teasdale . i visited the club ,had a nice conversation to all you greeted me ,interviewed by Burnley Express and got a civic reception from the Mayor of Burnley .
i still have a nice photo of Turf Moor .
It was Mr Mik Stevens who received me on my second visit . I stayed at his place for two nights . he brought me to Turf Moor for a match which we drew .it was when we played in the second division .
Mr Stevens is really a gentleman
I am struggling NYD as I am away, but if still struggling I can take you to Heathrow on the 2nd or 3rd no problem at all.

Just for general information to everybody, I was not trying to be rude or ironic to dave. Everybody knows what an icon he is on this site. But his generosity goes beyond normal people's extremes. Good on ya, dave, and I hope that you and everybody else on this site has the merriest of Christmases. And I mean EVERYBODY. UTC!!

Re: Visiting Uk for a white Christmas
First and foremost I have to thank most heartily the love and the desire to help me so that I may watch the match on 1st January .As requested I may catch a train and travel from Newport to Didcot in order to facilitate the travel .I should be informed at what time I should catch the train at Newport .
Contrary to what some may think I have the milk of human kindness and always helped needy people .I am a teetotaller , I may consume some meat except venison chicken , mutton and seafood .
It is a fact that I have been an ardent Claret fan since 1954 .I have never deserted Burnley even though they were in 4th division.i followed the match against Leyton Orient , At a certain time I was very sad when the reporter said that only a miracle can save from rel3gation to the Vauxhall league .I prayed at home for divine assistance and after 90 mins our honour was saved .

I keep watching this to see what progress is made. It would be good to meet up again and, if I had been nearer I would have driven down to Cardiff, however, it is quite a distance from Ashington!

Re: Visiting Uk for a white Christmas
Just to confirm, davemanu is going to be at the game on boxing Day, it's just about finalizing the details in regards to travel.
Haven't forgotten about it, I'm just waiting for confirmation of times from Hunter etc.
I'll be bringing him up from Didcot though, that much is arranged.

Re: Visiting Uk for a white Christmas
New years day.
I do travelling up and down on the same day due to having the 3 kids with me.
I'm bringing davemanu up on the day and someone else will look after him from there.
I'm happy to do it because his posts always make me smile, regardless of what else is going on in the world and they're always positive.
As someone else said, Macca I think when he offered his tickets, we take match day for granted as and when we go, whereas for davemanu this will be special because its extremely rare.
Its the very least I can do to help him get there.

Brilliant news. Well done to all concerned in making this happen. It would be good to meet up with Bhurdwaz again although it will depend where and when. I can't suggest where this might happen because my knowledge of venues in the area is limited days. I shall await any development with interest.
