Klopp

Post by Quickenthetempo » Sun Dec 10, 2017 7:44 pm

I've just seen his interview on Sky.

He's cracking up. 'Stop the interview if you think it was a penalty'.

He was looking at Allardyce a lot, with a bemused face. Burnley will go above them shortly.

Just a big baby when things don't go his way.

Contrast with SD's interview after the Arsenal game.

I felt it was much more clear cut that the one given against us as well.

Klopp is too manic. Don't think he has the characteristics of a top manager.

Klopp would have been more justified if had directed his ire at the one person whose error probably had the most effect on the result - Mane.

Interviewer should have asked him why he started Coutinho and Firmino on the bench.
Big match and he brings in 3 bit part players. Ox, Robertson and Solanke.
Got what he deserved for mine.

He's two years into the job, isn't making the impact expected and, for a centre-back himself, seems to have no clue what might be needed to bolster the defence.

He's happy if it's questions about soft or otherwise penalties. His rant is to distract everybody from the real question of what exactly he's achieving.

As with our recent results against them, Liverpools superior possession statistics should ensure they get three points. Would have thought he'd researched how points are awarded before accepting a job in the Premier league.

To be fair it was a bit of a weak penalty, but it was a penalty. I agree with Shearer though that Mane should have done his job and passed the ball in the box when he had three players in support. Liverpool are a very good side going forward.

Omg .... I have just seen the incident and no wonder Klopp is upset and if that is a penalty then football has officially just died for me.

The Everton player checked to his right and then shoulder charged the Liverpool player to make it look like the defender put his hands on him. It was not a soft penalty as the TV pundits described it but it was a totally manufactured penalty by the forward. You might as well tell defenders to keep at least 6ft away from a forward in the penalty box! What's the point of being called a defender then?

I stopped watching football apart from watching Burnley on the highlights a long time ago to watch honest sports like Rugby Union, although football type behaviour is slowly creeping in to that game sadly but it still reminds me of watching football 30 years ago when it was a genuine sport!

Football totally baffles me now and it's totally and utterly corrupt. The unintentional offside rule is bull, the diving, the player/manager behaviour and I never thought I'd see the day when it turned into a non contact sport especially in the penalty box.

Football for me at premier level is now an entertainment and not a sport.

Looked like a stupid and pretty obvious push from Lovren to me. The Everton player was off balance so a push like he got could easily have made him fall.

I'm still not 100% convinced it was a penalty but it was a lot more of one than the Arsenal one against us because Ramsay launched himself.

The problem now is that there is not a game that seems to go by without diving or cheating so it's getting harder to distinguish anything genuine. Loads of cheating in the Manchester derby.

It's unbelievable that there has only been one ban in the Premier League - the rules are all wrong

To say the Everton player shoulder charged Lovren is just weird - I know it's all about opinions but how you can see that I am not sure.
It was clear as day that Lovren pushed him - question mark for me is whether it was enough to cause him to fall over like he did

There was one camera angle that showed exactly what happened. The Everton player deliberately slowed down meaning the defender ran into the back of him, something that's happening all the time now in and outside the box to get cheap free kicks and penalties. The defender cant stop contact being made in those circumstances.

Clearly cheating and definitely not a pen.

When you are running closely behind someone, whether playing football or not and they suddenly slow down you immediately bring the palms of your hands up to cushion the blow as you run into their back.

Tarkowski and Lovren were both victims of the same cynical tactic.

The skill of cheating like this is now becoming a tactical art form to such a high standard that many referees , pundits and fans don't see whats really happening.

So if someone slows down in front of you it's natural for you to lift your arms and push them in the back ?

Even if for one minute I believed that was true - it still makes it a foul / penalty.....as there is nothing wrong with slowing down !

If you were saying that the Everton player flung himself to the ground and exaggerated the impact of the push (which is exactly what Ramsay did) then I would agree with you...but I don't think the Everton player did this - do you ?

As you can see from the threads on the Silva and Ramsay penalties my view is that the rule should be that even where there is contact if the player tries to deceive the ref by exaggerating the impact then it should not be a penalty in any circumstance as he is cheating.

What other sport can you cheat and in the very same incident you are cheating you still get rewarded ?

Played football for 40 years thanks
I've never pushed someone in the back in the area and then protested to the referee I only did it because the other player was slowing down !!!
The problem with what you are saying (or one of the problems) is that you making a lot of assumptions about what both players have done......when the most obvious explanation is clear as day. Lovren pushed the player over.

Lovren seems to be missed out on this, it was frankly a rank bad bit of defending from an international standard defender.

Klopp is good at gurning and fist pumps but not a very competent football manager it seems to me. I mean his selection for that derby game yesterday borders on deliberate sabotage. Consider that he plays Salah, Mane, Firmino and Coutinho against Spartak on Wednesday night, keeping them on the pitch long after the game is won and embellishing the job with Sturridge too. He then utterly bizarrely decides to make 6 changes for the Everton game including "resting" all the above bar Salah and Mane, and he also takes Salah off the pitch with the score 1-0 and 25 minutes to play.
Can someone explain how any of that makes sense ? Absolutely ridiculous "management".

Completely agree Stalbans

They had won the game v spartak after 20 mins - he could have taken them all off. Salah played the whole 90 mins and the whole team and management staff seemed to be focusing on getting Salah a goal in that game - f-uck knows why.

He then rests 2 of his best players in the derby and plays a young inexperienced lad up front on his own. He excuses this by saying they are playing West Brom mid week - unless I am missing something is that not the game he should be resting players (if he really thinks he needs to).

I said exactly the same thing when he took Salah off who was torturing the Everton defence and was Liverpool only real width.

Yet on the other thread you have people saying he is a better manager then Pep.

I like Klopp but it's hard to see him winning anything in this country - he did the same thing last year at this time didn't he ?

That was a lifetime ago in football terms.
Klopp has spent a hell of a lot of money.
I'm not saying Liverpool will sack him soon either but the team are doing no better than they did under Rodgers - in fact he got them closer to the title than any manager has in the last 25 years or so and he still got sacked.

What he did against Everton was inexplicable though - they would have been 5-0 up at half time with Coutinho and Firmino playing as Everton were all over the shop in the first half.
