Not sure why this would upset anyone.

Neither can I. I’d love fans to be able to stand together to watch games but I can’t see it happening because some idiots can’t debate and would resort to fighting.what_no_pies wrote:Not sure why this would upset anyone.

Fisting has been going on for years in Brighton, so taking a photo whilst doing it should be no problem at all.

Re: Wtf has football or society become
No problem with this. Those who want to take part can, those who think it may compromise their 'image' don't have to.
Chanting inside a ground and creating an atmosphere is great. Rivalrys great. Being obnoxious, rude and aggressive when interacting with opposing fans outside the ground is pretty shitty. Anything that attempts combat that behaviour is fine with me.
Love chatting to opposing fans on the way to games. Would never take a selfie of me 'fist bumping' but would happily oblige if approached.
Harmless.

I would love the opportunity to capitalise on a controversial injury time penalty winner with a "fist bump...anyone?" outside the ground afterwards.

Re: Wtf has football or society become
Nowt wrong with it.
Chatting with away fans on my way to matches when I go on the train is good fun.
Added bonus with Brighton fans is that if they mention a certain Joey Barton you can mention goals that were a good foot over the line.

Re: Wtf has football or society become
Yep. They still think we cheated them by having 11 men on the pitch, but dont mention that we drew 3-2.

All part of the great "sanitisation" of the game.
That's why most grounds are now packed with nice people with Barratt homes and proper shirt n tie jobs....and not the smelly underclasses of Duke Bar or Bacup.

Why can't people just turn up and be "GENUINE" Why does everything have to involve promotional notices and selfies on Social Media?
You're just members of the public, you're not superstars. Nobody gives a ****.

Re: Wtf has football or society become
The clubs and/or supporters have to be seen to active in some sort of positive role - we do it really well with our community links, where we make a difference to society - whereas these lot have only started supporting the club 5 minutes ago and just like their stadium and fans in general it's all plastic smiles and happy clapping. This stunt will no doubt be to show how a nice bunch of friendly people they all are (contrary to reading their ,message board and seeing how bitter and uninformed they are about anyone north of Watford)boiledclaret wrote:Why can't people just turn up and be "GENUINE" Why does everything have to involve promotional notices and selfies on Social Media?

I can't say that I share your outrage at this.
Rivalry is fine, competition is fine, banter is fine but it doesn't have to descend into
violence and hatred.
Having said that, I am not too keen on Manure and their "fans"

It’s because it’s twitter driven, if you ignore everything such as news articles, arguments, opinions or content based on or around twitter, society is still ok.
Twitter outrage. Ignoring Twitter outrage allows you to stay in the real world where your not engulfed in people being offended or going on do-gooding crusades.
I mean, seriously. What a pointless campaign. Look beyond what it really is. A marketing exercise. Nothing more.

Strange comment, from someone who's moved about as far as physically possible in the UK from Bacup & Duke Bar !fatboy47 wrote:All part of the great "sanitisation" of the game.

No ones forced into anything. It's just encouraging positive behaviour, so really can't do any harm.
Whether a marketing exercise or not, who cares?
I would rather see two people shaking hands for a photo than a grown man with a kid on his shoulder flicking v' s and shouting obscenities to bemused looking normal football fans sat on a coach.

Re: Wtf has football or society become
I’m stuck on this one. I’ve had some excellent discussions with opposing fans before and after games, and actually it’s sometimes as, if not more, enjoyable than the game itself. Integration, and respecting fellow fans should be encouraged, and if I was chatting to an opposition fan, and happened to shake their hand as we parted ways, only for a candid photo to be taken and shared on social media, then I would be delighted. But when it is set up, and organised, it loses its meaning. I’d rather we had a small section where fans were mixed, or places actively encouraging fans of both teams before and after games. Done correctly, I think this would be a very positive step. I often find the only difference between Burnley fans and other fans is the colour of their shirt, and their accent.

Interesting insight to how your mind works maybe.ClaretMoffitt wrote:Honestly read that as "fist bumming" at first.

That's the only difference. They love their club like we love ours. I find muppets fighting, gesturing, loathing and laughing at other clubs struggles tedious. Whether it Blackburn or Doncaster.Roosterbooster wrote:I often find the only difference between Burnley fans and other fans is the colour of their shirt, and their accent.
It's just a bunch of guys kicking a bag of wind about for a bit.

Anyone that wants to take part in this sort of thing, that's great. Once it becomes 'official' policy, my inner anarchist takes over and I just won't do it. (I wouldn't have done it anyway, like, just even less so for having being asked to.)

If you have to be asked, to be nice to the opposition fans, it's already too late.
