Sportsman of The Year
Don't know half the runners. Disgrace to see slimy little tax-dodging turd Hamilton in there. Great to see wee Bradley being recognised.

The little turd will be offsetting his expenses, if he attends tonight, against tax no doubt.
I can't abide the bloke.

Re: Sportsman of The Year
Don't particularly like Hamilton but think he probably deserves to win it or at least come close.
Re: Sportsman of The Year
I don't think the title sits very well with me to be honest. Can it not just be sportsperson.

I believe Joshua is favourite. I know it is for personality and he has bags of that but two appearances in a year doesn't cut the mustard on the sports front.

Haven't seen it for many years now. Is it still a gathering of mutual self-admiration,self-obsessed individuals?

It's Metro controlled unfortunately.
Macca's right - his neighbour should be recognised - that's what the honours system should be instead of duplicating rewards for fat cats and obscenely overpaid "stars".

I don't think the 'personality' in 'sports personality' is used in the context that you think it is.piston broke wrote:I believe Joshua is favourite. I know it is for personality and he has bags of that but two appearances in a year doesn't cut the mustard on the sports front.

Re: Sportsman of The Year
Is this referring to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year?
We had a cricketer reach 500 test wickets this year and he's not even included.

Should be Mo Farah - the best British athlete in history and one of the best athletes the world has ever seen.
He won't win it though.

I was pointing out that the ‘personality’ in ‘sports personality’ doesn’t refer to the person’s character or charisma.piston broke wrote:Two fights hardly makes him sportsperson of the year.

Minority sports rarely win, for athletics other than Olympic years they don't really get sufficient air time.TVC15 wrote:Should be Mo Farah - the best British athlete in history and one of the best athletes the world has ever seen.

Should be Johnie Peacock. Has had to overcome something that most of us couldn't even begin to imagine. And he is British, unlike Froome, Farah, just saying like......

Genuinely thrilled for Sir Mo Farah.
Loved Jessica Ennis-Hill getting the "life-time" award.

Talksport will still talk about it and Ian Wright will still be on the tele, so you've plenty to obsess about and foam at the mouth for.
