Strange one given they are not involved any longer at our club

Re: New UCFB advert
Just seen it for the first time - found it strange to be honest given there is no Burnley link now. Maybe Pep wasn't available.Rileybobs wrote:Saw this on BT Sport yesterday.
Re: New UCFB advert
Massive, massive mistake by the Club, selling on this venture to Man City.
Re: New UCFB advert
I didn't think it was anything to do with the club - they just lost the rights to Man City didn't they ?

They're just cashing in on success. It's no more than any other celebrity endorsement.

Re: New UCFB advert
The club had no choice. Was, sadly, always likely to happen once it was shown to be a success. Sigh.

The businessmen who rented Burnley space now cash in elsewhere.

Students are always more likely to go to London or Manchester given a choice. Accommodation in Burnley is way short.

In reality this is just the next logical step for Sean Dyche to fulfil his aspiration to be a Hollywood actor.

Re: New UCFB advert
You are correct. UCFB paid rent at Turf Moor and decided to move to Manchester and Wembley. A real shame for the town, not least because of the use of the Keirby and Sparrow Hawk as student accommodation.TVC15 wrote:I didn't think it was anything to do with the club - they just lost the rights to Man City didn't they ?

Re: New UCFB advert
It was a gamble which the Club couldn't afford to be involved with, but BF saw the opportunity and seems to have done well with it. For a time it was a no risk income generating venture for the club. If it became successful it was bound to move on. I think Paul Fletcher was/is involved too.

The other colleges are prospering and good for Burnley.

I think you can still do the courses at Turf Moor, but they are taught by Nelson and Colne College.

Re: New UCFB advert
I assume SD was handsomely rewarded for the advert and that's why he was involved.
I always thought UCFB was a private venture by Flood and Fletcher using the Club's facilities and brand in return for a fee.

Re: New UCFB advert
UCFB was originally based at the club. Nothing was sold on because the club never owned any part of it. From memory, or from something Lee Hoos told us, they did commit to renting the accommodation at the Turf until 2021 so they will still be paying some rent for that.Diesel wrote:Massive, massive mistake by the Club, selling on this venture to Man City.
BF & Fletch are involved but it was John B who mainly funded it. I think he owns a large part of UCFB. Flood's idea and he persuaded JB to get involved.mdd2 wrote:It was a gamble which the Club couldn't afford to be involved with, but BF saw the opportunity and seems to have done well with it. The Directors of UCFB College of Football Business Limited are John Banaszkiewicz, Paul Fletcher and Brendan Flood.ClaretTony wrote:Strange one given they are not involved any longer at our club

I'd say they are still involved with the club.

Re: New UCFB advert
The ad is great for Burnley. It is our manager featured and there's no one better qualified to do this.
Fans of other clubs might see this and start thinking Burnley is taking over at Wembley and Etihad.

Re: New UCFB advert
I think you've misinterpreted my post. Two of the three you mention we know are directors of Burnley FC although Fletcher has no involvement with our club at all now. What I was posting is that UCFB have no involvement with our club now, the part of it that was based at Turf Moor is now at the Etihad.UpTheBeehole wrote:The Directors of UCFB College of Football Business Limited are John Banaszkiewicz, Paul Fletcher and Brendan Flood.

Re: New UCFB advert
I remember seeing an advert for UCFB in London in the early years of the thing (whilst they were still fully based in Burnley). There was absolutely no mention of Burnley in the text or the images, obviously now we're a bit more successful that's changed.

Just posted this week on LinkedIn by you know who :
"We secured planning permission on Wednesday for our £80m expansion in Wembley .We plan to make a similar investment during the next 3 years in the Etihad Campus Manchester"
For those who don't know have a guess
I'll give you a clue - his surname rhymes with "bad blood" ( kind of !!)
