It was 2 trains. I took off from Nyc Penn (3pm local)monday to chicago on Lake Shore Limited. Passed through upstate ny before darkness fell and arrived in Chicago about 10am local. Had a few hours there before taking the Southwest Chief which left at 3pm i think and arrived in LA 8am thursday. About 67 hours I think. Passed through Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, New mexico, california from the top of my head. I just stayed coach class which was just seat but much larger than airplane seating and much more leg room. It cost about £150. I was alone so meet lots of interesting people including a 70 year old guy from Japan. He was spend a month riding all of the long route trains.
Check out Amtrak website, lots of good info of loads of routes.

Likewise buddy. I'm sure you've had all the, "Do you get one lot of presents or two", when you were younger. Nowadays it's, "Not a lot for either!"

2017 has been a mentally draining year for me, for positive reasons I hasten to add (birth of my first child in August amongst other things).
2018 I already have two things that are massive happening to me, one, I am getting married in June after being with my partner for 10 years this coming January (and engaged since 2009!). Secondly, me and my (by then wife!) will be fulfilling a bucket list item for the pair of us, as we love theme parks and yet neither of us had ever done Florida - we go for three weeks in October for our honeymoon. To some Disney etc probably sounds horrific, but it’s genuinely bucket list worthy for us.
On a personal note, I have lost approaching 80 pounds in weight in the last year, I want to lose another 50 pounds between now and my wedding. I realise that’s more ‘new year resolution’ than bucket list, but there we go. Being thin is bucket list worthy to me!
I was lucky to go to Florida several times. Great location to stay is Cypress Pointe. 5 minute drive into Disney. The Disney hotels I am told are very good but not stayed in them.
Friend of mine told me to do a daily plan, that was such a good idea
The other best tip if your only going once is you need 3 weeks to fit most things in.

Always fancied this. Sounds great. Love train travel. Did a cross state drive in a mustang which was cool but this sounds awesome.

Strange thing this. If I'd been doing my bucket list a year ago I think I'd have missed a few unknowns out - like finding out I needed major heart surgery in March and spending 3 months recovering, then buying my first bike for 30 years and starting to cycle again.
Surviving to 2018 has been a big item in the bucket list that I didn't plan to do but am glad I did. The Christmas Message from me is - just do it, whatever it is. Life is not a dress rehearsal.
Thankfully I'm in good health now and enjoying life, I wish the same for all Clarets fans here.
