Re: Lanzini done by the FA
In this day and age, this decision could be made almost instantly.
There would then be NO penalty, NO goal and a cheating bar steward sent off for simulation.
That would help cure simulation, not a two match ban after the event when the damage has already been done.

Diving is worse than ever. Three examples of pure diving over the weekend. This, Ndidi who rightfully got sent off and that mosquito fella for Brighton.
The only way I think we will concede is through refs giving dodgy penalties against us.

If the dive is as bad as Lanzini's it should be a straight red.
For what it's worth I thought Lanzini's was a completely different kettle of fish to Niasse, which was soft as they come but didn't have anywhere near the same level of deception applied as Lanzini's.

Ref had a perfectly clear view, should never have been given in the first place ref should be demoted for the next round of matches.

Can't believe Lanzini is defending it.

Kamara and Wagner agreed it was a penalty on goals on sunday. Ridiculous!

if we weren't in the PL I wouldn't watch it - the cheating gets worse every week

The acceptance by the media of diving is what annoys me most in all this. People have said, he could see the challenge coming so he had the right to go down to avoid the collision. Bullsh*t!!

Re: Lanzini done by the FA
There are layers of cheating / deceiving going on; from the players on the pitch to the FA panel in the background and the hoards of pundits scattered through the media.
Richarlison and Lanzini have rightly been charged for conning the referee. I still think the Niasse one was harsh as he was blocked off by Dann, but they deemed it cheating so he was banned too. Was the contact in any of these incidents particularly different to the contact made on Ramsey and Bernardo Silva for example? Ramsey backed into Tarky and threw himself on the floor. Bernardo Silva had his ankle clipped, and I think clipped is an overstatement given it took about 6 replays to decipher whether there was any contact at all, yet both of these players got away with the full theatricals that this new panel is meant to be stamping out. As ever the issue is the colour of the shirt and nothing more.
I've said on the Tarky thread that the Lukaku incident is no different yet he got away with it. There's no level playing field in the PL. Lukaku kicked out at a Brighton defender twice but it was deemed to be frustration not violent conduct. If there's ever been a clearer example of bending the rules to suit your needs I haven't seen it. The FA are a complete disgrace and it's getting worse by the week.

Re: Lanzini done by the FA
Has anyone else noticed that some teams (try Spurs for example), have started concentrating on diving just outside the box, where if you score from the free kick there can't be a retrospective punishment. That degree of comprehension hasn't reached Falmer yet, clearly.
I went to Switzerland about 30 years ago and took in a couple of games. Was quite bemused by the ridiculous diving, particularly in the second half and was glad I didn't have to watch that sh1te every week. OK, there was Vince Hilaire, Francis Lee, Peter Ward and others, but nothing by comparison to the present offering in the top flight. It's the same every week. If the banning of a few people doesn't do much (and it hasn't so far, judging from Saturdays offering), then:-
a) the rule has got to be extended to gaining an advantage by deception at any point on the pitch, not just the penalty area.
b) if a player is booked for diving, then the panel have to consider whether the yellow card should be upgraded to an automatic ban. That way, there is no criticism of the referee. The supplemental penalty would be out of his jurisdiction.
c) repeat offenders having increased bans
d) "deception" being deemed to include "attempted deception", and "exaggeration with intent to deceive".
If that means that certain players choose to go in Spain then good. They can F off. That'd be about the one thing (other than fishing) which Brexit might be good for.

Re: Lanzini done by the FA
The best diver ever was Rodney Marsh ex City and QPR
We could manage a leap into the area from an outrageous distance..
In Leicesters promotion season Vardy got a good few dubious penalties .Currently we have a whole bunch at Arsenal totally willing to cheat and con refs
And done even mention ace conman Murray

On the other hand, re: theTarks/Ramsay incident, you may remember we were debating on here the refs decision to give a peno all weekend and beyond. And they often argue on MOTD about decisions.
Unless you just have the fourth official deciding.
And then half the fans would describe him as blind/stupid/biased/on the take because he came to a different decision than them.
Not that simple at all.
2 game ban!!
Manuel lanzini for diving.

Re: Lanzini done by the FA
Only the second Premier League player banned for diving.
That system is working really well then if only 2 players have committed an act of diving all season. Well done FA, you really stamped out that problem
Sarcasm mode off

So if you are amateurish in your attempt to conceal cheating you get done, but if you have the professional chops to shield it, it’s rewardedCroydon Claret wrote:Presumably because there was "contact"

Re: Lanzini done by the FA
If there is any desire to sort this issue out, people need to stop hiding behind "contact" as a reason for not dong anything. If a player deliberately lifts his leg, hooks it round his opponent's and throws himself to the floor, it is cheating just as much as if he dives over fresh air. It's not "a tangle of legs", he doesn't "have a right to go down", he's cheating and should get a ban.

Only goes to review if a penalty is given, which is absolutely farcical. They've really ballsed this whole approach up.... Needs scrapping asap.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Has the Brighton player who dived near the end not been charged??

Will Demarai Gray get done for his dive last night?
