He's done unbelievably well. I was very concerned when Tom got injured just because this lad had barely had a kick for us and was not overly experienced at first team level full stop.

He has done amazingly well and commands his box with authority that belies his years. His record is exceptional, if you are going on statistical England squad inclusion, he would surely be ahead of the likes of Jack "It's Saturday, time to concede another 5" Butland.

Totally agree with Jedi, when Tom was injured I thought we'd be letting them in all over.

Pope is a revelation and it'll be a battle keeping the offers from distracting him if he loses his place.

I think his best strength hardly ever gets mentioned. He doesn't often make full-length saves, as his positioning is so good in the first instance. Look at his best saves from Charlton and York. He's always right behind the ball. Well done Freddie (Mercury). Top class!

He is up there for Burnley's player of the season (so far) for me. I recognise there are other candidates such as Jack Cork and James Tarkowski. However, for Pope to come in with relatively limited experience (0 experience in the PL) and perform as he is is outstanding. Sure, there's room for improvement but Heaton's injury has been nowhere near as problematic as I thought it might be for us. I think a lot of credit goes not just to Pope but also to Dyche, Billy Mercer and the other goalies who obviously support each other a great deal.

Did well again today. He's more commanding in the air than Tom, obviously his height helps. If he keeps this up he will take some shifting.

Our number 1 now for me and with Hart and Forster both being dropped by their clubs surely he is now number 2 to Butland for England, possibly number 3 behind Pickford (in Southgate's opinion)?

Don't get me wrong the lad has done really well but his kicking has been pretty shocking at times and will keep him a long way from the England team.

Yesterdays Jim White show on TS they were picking there end of year best 11 Perry Groves went for Nick Pope and Ben Mee after pondering Tarks or Ben then you got De Bruynne, Aguero etc what company are we keeping !!

He is indeed excellent and his confidence has really grown . He takes high balls and crosses better than ANY keeper in the prem, great positioning too. He’s not had a lot to do post Liverpool but when called upon he’s been v good indeed. Super brave save vs Man Utd.Only thing is his distribution and kicking not as safe as TH and downright haphazard at times.

Heaton will be off end of season as I can’t see him

I guess with Heaton as he might still have one eye on the World Cup - but at the same time, I can't see him wanting out in January, seens how he still won't be fit by then.

But from everything I've seen and heard about Tom I think he loves it here. Will he accept and be in a similar position to Tarks, knowing he'll eventually get his place back? I think he will. For the next 18 months anyway.

Could a team with 2 great goalies choose to play one as a defender? ie. if they had several defenders injured or on temporary bans.

Not a chance TH will sit out 18months on the bench not a chance in holy hell . He does indeed love it at Burnley and he’s a cracking fella. But at his age and level he needs 1st team football. Usually in these scenarios the original “ no 1” wins his place back but such is the life of a keeper it’s impossible to know . Great we have these players

He's certainly a very good keeper but I think Tom is better. All the websites say Nick is very slightly taller than Tom but he looks two inches taller to me. He does look more comfortable in the air although Tom has improved significantly in that respect.

Tom's kicking is better IMHO.

And Tom's reflexes are slightly better.

But there's not much in it and Nick's form since he stepped in for Tom has been yet another great feature of this fantastic year. Nick will play for England of that I'm sure.

Well done to SD signing him for a song and Billy Mercer (and our other keepers) for working so well with Nick (and Tom).

As far as I'm aware, a player regardless of position, can start a game anywhere.

So Sam Vokes could start in goal.

I like Nick Pope. I think he is better at crosses and kicking than Heaton. I know he’s had a few kicks that have flown out but in general I find his passes are directed at a burnley player, rather than being thumped.

Heaton excels at shot stopping. I don’t think I have seen Pope make enough saves to judge his shot stopping properly. Our defence is that good, and popes positioning is that good means he rarely has to make a full stretch save.

It’s difficult to say whose better but Pope is a few years younger so I would probably keep investing in him

One hell of a keeper is Nick. Good shot stopper and excellent on crosses.
Heaton and Nick are a par on shot stopping but Nick wins it for me, due to him commanding his area better.

Heaton rarely comes of his line due to his lack of height. Most of the top goal keepers these days are 6'4"plus

Might be difficult to keep two top 'keepers happy. Wonder if we will be faced with what happened at Leicester City in the mid-sixties with Banks and Shilton? The story went (for those that don't don't know): Shilton came in for Banks whilst he was on England duty. short timeafter, Shilton had enough confidence in himself at 16 to ask the Manager, Matt Gillies, that he wanted first team football or would look elsewhere for it. Banks heard about this and thought 'that's a bit cheeky Peter' Next news, Gillies pulls Banks in training and says 'Stoke City have enquired about you - how do you fancy moving? !' Banks was astounded. England's number 1 'keeper. Under those circumstances he decided to move on. This, admittedly, was a unique situation. I hope Burnley can keep both keepers happy but wonder if they had their hand forced, which way would it go?

He has been booked 3 times in over 100 professional appearances. He utilises the fact that a keeper can legitimately take a goal kick from anywhere in his 6 yard box. This law was amended because the authorities thought that it would speed the game up --what a fail! It is used by all keepers and there is very little an official can do about it because it is quite legal. I would be disappointed if we did not use this loophole because it takes longer for some players to take a throw-in than it does for a goalkick to be taken.
