Empty seats today
Empty seats today
Every time we have a supposed 'sell out', there are about 30/40 empty seats in the Lower Jimmy Mac at the front near to the James Hargreaves. Any idea why????

Said the same Pete.
It's every game and always the same area. If they are allocated to a club or similar then it's a shame they are not being offered up when obviously not being used.

It infuriates me. Could easily be utilised, if they are indeed allocated.

Re: Empty seats today
Lots of spare seats near me in the centre of the Jimmy Mac Upper.
There were many unoccupied seats in the JH Lower after half time. Can't blame them for not coming back on. In the first half I saw a bloke having his beard removed by a combination of rain and wind as children sobbed in the aisles.
Hats off for the under 7 kids that played at half time.

Re: Empty seats today
Players' complimentary tickets used to be in that area of the JML three seasons ago. If it's still the same it would explain it.

Re: Empty seats today
Looking at the people sat there today they appeared to be turnstile operators/programme sellers and golden gamble sellers. They get a free ticket to the match if they want to use it. Some will, some won’t, but they have to be allocated space somewhere. It seems only half ever bother using their ticket, and if it’s raining they’re less likely to.

Re: Empty seats today
I was in JML row A today - wetter than a wet weekend in Wetsville. I went for a pee during the game and there must have been 40 or 50 people watching the game on the TVs in the concourse. Why bother coming????
Re: Empty seats today
Think that might be due to people who should be in those seats moving to the back to stand/get a better view.evensteadiereddie wrote:About twenty empty at the front of the CFS, too, as there were v Arsenal and Spurs.

Re: Empty seats today
I noticed that the bottom tier of the Jimmy Mac was a lot fuller at kick off than after half time. The fans seemed to take ages to return to their seats, and many didn’t bother at all. Probably peed off with getting peed through? It was cold too, so the warmer concourse with a drink, watching on the TV’s probably made more sense?Sutton-Claret wrote:I was in JML row A today - wetter than a wet weekend in Wetsville. Could be but shouldn't those seats further back already have a bum on them ?

I normally take my brother but he was full of cold. Sitting in pouring rain for over 2 hours didn’t seem wise so we missed this match.

My seat in the CF was empty today. Many of those seats in that front corner of the CFS used to be given to youth and junior players and coaching staff

Re: Empty seats today
Two seats on the end of my row in JMU have only been used once in the games I've made it too.
Empty again today, so I can only assume they're infrequent attendees?

Re: Empty seats today
Do you have to buy those 'Ponchos / Man Wraps ?
Can you bring your own tarpaulin ? Wouldn't be cost prohibitive if a group could share. I have an excess of ex-military parachute material going cheap.
However, you will need to collect.

The design of the "new" stands is appalling though. We sit in the front row of the JMU and were getting rained on yesterday. Can't have been much fun in the lower tier.

I looked at the long range weather forecast a year ago and could see which way the wind was blowing yesterday so opted to renew my season ticket in the Bob Lord and kept nice and dry.Sproggy wrote:The design of the "new" stands is appalling though. Re: Empty seats today
We sit in JHU. The 2 seats next to us aren't held by season ticket holders so we get different people there each match. Yesterday it was a bloke with a young kid. They have season tickets in the CFS but got a call from the Club late morning to say they were moving them there. No explanation given. Maybe a few others got moved as well. All seemed a bit odd as it was meant to be a sell out yet these seats were obviously spare.

Re: Empty seats today
I didn’t spot anybody jumping up and down when they scored, but there were a few walking around with half and half scarves on yesterday. Probably because it was freezing and they’re £5 rather than the club which are £10?KRBFC wrote:The JHL is always full of opposition fans, scousers everywhere.

Re: Empty seats today
It wasn't. I was on row A with the kids..... We stuck it out till minute 89 so missed their goal. Bin bags over the knees worked a treat thoughSproggy wrote:The design of the "new" stands is appalling though. We sit in the front row of the JMU and were getting rained on yesterday. Re: Empty seats today
There is also a rectangular patch of empty seats in the away section. Can't see the point of that either.
