Worse than embarrasing you don't see that on a kick about on a Sunday morning in the park.

I thought he had just miss timed his jump for the ball, along with the Liverpool defender. It was rather amusing.

I thought he had been doing better these last few games in staying on his feet. A better player for it.

Thought he just mis-timed/mid-read the clearance due to the unpredictable swirling weather conditions...he had another good game!

Looking at the comments on the internet - BBC Sport match report- one or two Liverpool fans suggesting our 'big strong lads' were falling over at the slightest touch.....really ???

Mistimed jump, no more no less, but a comical one.

The high incoming ball stalled just as Barnes was committed to jumping. It was just mistimed.

It was just funny, not embarrassing, even though the conditions obviously had an influence. I can't remember the last time I heard all sides of the ground breakout into laughter at a player. Presume the other players will take **** once they are over the defeat.

It was funny, but I can't help but wonder what the crowd's reaction would have been if it had been Juke, Noel-Williams or Iwelumo.

Some people like Barnes, and this clouds their judgement on his ability, which is limited let's be honest.

Some people don’t like Barnes, and this clouds their judgement on his ability, which is better than some people give him credit for, let’s be honest.

Half the time the ball is incidental to Barnes' game, and he showed it there- tried to play his man, realised he wasn't there, and missed the ball entirely.

Yeah! You can tell by his ability to comfortably control the ball on his chest and bring team mates in to play.

Hence me saying "Half the time", mate. In the incident we're talking about, he didn't control the ball on his chest or bring a team mate into play, did he? He fell over and missed the ball under no pressure because he was trying to play a defender who wasn't there.

Tarkowski and Mee both pretended top be fouled whilst defending. I think Bardsley did too.

We're no saints, just not as bad as most other teams.

He did mis time it but I think the wind played a part and he was perhaps looking for a challenge from behind. Quite amusing

I saw it as mistiming the jump with the wind swirling. However he did exaggerate the impact of a Liverpool defenders challenge in front of the Longside, which did win a free kick.

Pass completion of 55% yesterday.
Won 27% of his aerial battles yesterday.

He's not very good at it.

Out of curiosity, do you ever look for any positives in our players?
You and one or two others seem to take great pleasure in fault finding as if to score brownie points against each other.
Something you are very good at.

Isn't it getting tedious? God only knows what this forum would be like if we were in the bottom 3. I bet the kit man would have his own post about how he's not up to the job in the premier league

Barnes does what the rest of our team should do and what every player in most premier league sides do to, he is a cheat and he's generally good at it.

Until the refs clamp down on the top teams players cheating I think we need to encourage more players to cheat like he does. Credit to Ashley for not being gullible like Dyche and others.

We need a team full of Barnes' just like all the other top teams have.

With limited ability Barnes puts Burnley in front at the Ethiad.

That’s Barnes to a tee though. Miss the tap in but beat the odds to put one in at the near post with a screamer
