Would probably need to go over £15m, no chance this happens. I'd like it if we looked towards younger players.

Good target.
Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
Crossing ability will only be useful to us if the best header of the ball we have, isn't sat on his bottom most of the game.
It's nice that these rumours and the big fees are being reported though.

Good player, but the rumour probably started on this forum - we discussed him on another thread

Noticed that Bacup lad Marc Pugh is OOC at the end of the season.
He's played well for the last few years and as we are only waiting on Robbie coming back, next year,
he may be a cheaper alternative.

Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
Where does Pugh play? I always thought of him as a CM, but not sure. Could be worth a 2 year deal if Marney and Ulvestad are leaving, however he might want 1 last pay day, 3 year contract and playing every week.piston broke wrote:Noticed that Bacup lad Marc Pugh is OOC at the end of the season.

I thought he played wide left but had lost his spot because of Fraser's improvement.MACCA wrote:Where does Pugh play? I always thought of him as a CM, but not sure. Could be an option then as if we're to progress we will need 4 wingers/wide men, where 2 of them understand starts and/or minutes being limited. Pugh and Arfield could be those men.piston broke wrote:I thought he played wide left but had lost his spot because of Fraser's improvement.

It's the January window where player's prices and valuations go through the roof.
Dyche will soldier on with what he has and wait until the summer.

Marc Pugh boasting that impressive 5 goals in the PL. he scored goals when they were in league one.
Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
Hope we go for something a bit different than Ritchie. Understand a lad in that position at a top Prem team has caught the eye although not a regular.More likely with the attributes needed.
Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
Inflated prices are probably a valid point but this January is arguably our best ever time to be looking to recruit. Even more so when you consider the fact that Dyche likes time to bed players in - ideal in terms of readiness for the back end of this season and beginning of next.kentonclaret wrote:It's the January window where player's prices and valuations go through the roof.

Brought Brady in last January so that arguement doesn’t really stack up. Add to that the injury problems we currently have id be amazed if we do no business this month.kentonclaret wrote:It's the January window where player's prices and valuations go through the roof.

Is it actually true that transfer fees are higher in January? I just see them rising all the time as more money gets pumped into the game.kentonclaret wrote:It's the January window where player's prices and valuations go through the roof.

Fair point. I doubt they are on January.
Having said that, I don’t think dyche really gives “inflated prices” too much attention as he seems to buy very often on deadline day and that is when prices are actually higher.

Interesting comment! Here’s hoping that whoever it is is hungry enough to want to come to Burnley, nail down a regular spot and show their worth with us rather than just being a substitute/squad player elsewhere.Papabendi wrote:Understand a lad in that position at a top Prem team has caught the eye although not a regular.More likely with the attributes needed.

Everton and Southampton in for Walcott, apparently.
And a few more if you believe the Daily Star.

Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
This January transfer window has the added spice of out of favour and fringe players looking to catch Gareth Southgate's eye for a late call up.
That's more likely to happen if those players are impressing for 90 mins week in week out.
An opportunity beckons for all.

Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
I was told today that we were in for Walcott, by someone with a few links, never read anything into it till coming on here. Would be an absolute coup!
Probably not true but connecting the dot to dots, could be something in it?

Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
Doubt very much whether Ritchie or TW will likely to materialise especially as their wages are
likely to be significantly more than we are willing to pay.
However, if per chance there was a chance then Ritchie would be, in my opinion, a very good buy for us.
He could slot into the Brady role very quickly.
Whatever and whoever I do think we need at least another two in.
We're short on numbers so a centre-back and a winger would be good additions
and help bolster the team/squad.
We need to freshen up and the best way to do that is to bring in a few more.

South boy Walcott would more likely end up, in no particular order
Watford
Brighton
Palace
Swansea
West Ham
Bournemouth
WBA
Southampton
Than he would here. That's before you even mention wages and his young family who possibly wouldn't want to up roots and head norf.

Assuming KRBFC is just trolling as usual and there is a genuine link to a non-regular from a top team, what about Markovic?

Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
McClean from WBA would fit our profile, failing that Lennon. I don't think we would play a loaned player every week, as they've not bought into the ethos.

Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
Ritchie is a good player - at 28 he's not going to increase in value, but he's certainly got a couple more prime years in him at this level.
Papabendi's comments are interesting, although I can't imagine its Theo Walcott. His wages will be way outside our league. Far more likely to be someone on the fringes of a top team - Kenedy, Georges Kevin Nkoudou, Lazar Markovic, Sheyi Ojo, or someone like that.

Re: Matt Ritchie [Rumour]
we like to sign players in twos. it's something i've noticed. get a player and then use his inside knowledge to sign his mate or "know who would come". Hendrick and Brady. Walters and Bardsley. Taylor and Wood. JBG and Pope. The Brentford trio. I'd bet money on someone with a Swansea or Southampton connection (did Cork play with TW?) a Belgian or someone from Porto, an Icelandic international, or someone else jumping the Stoke ship.
