Mason Holgate
Not seen a thread on this but since last nights match a load of old homophobic tweets he made have arisen. Lets hope that he also gets a similar ban to Gray did last year.

Apparently, Firmino said he uses his mum to wash his teeth. But realised he was called Holgate and not Colgate

To be charged by the FA for the tweets.

Re: Mason Holgate
The main difference from what I read is Holgate was 15 and not a professional footballer.Cleveleys_claret wrote:Not seen a thread on this but since last nights match a load of old homophobic tweets he made have arisen. Lets hope that he also gets a similar ban to Gray did last year.

Was Gray actually professional when he did his tweets / posts? I thought he was still in the depths of the non-league? Happy to be corrected!edison wrote:The main difference from what I read is Holgate was 15 and not a professional footballer.

Re: Mason Holgate
It'll be interesting to see what the verdict is from the FA on this one.
Apparently, Gray's remorse and apology did not warrant any leniency.
Let's see how Holgate gets on.
PS: Can't believe clubs aren't checking their players accounts and that the players themselves aren't doing this. He could even have a paid a mate to go through and warn him if he'd posted anything stupid years ago. I doubt he's short of a few bob.

I asked burnley about checking accounts after the gray incident, Bentley replied that they wouldn't do it, unbelievableRowls wrote:It'll be interesting to see what the verdict is from the FA on this one.

SSN saying FA are aware of homophobic tweets made by Holgate aged 15 whilst at Barnsley but has not opened an investigation.

Whenever I hear his name I always think it sounds more like the name of a tube station, or perhaps a sleepy village in Midsomer.

No action to be taken against him.
Not surprising, would possibly open up a real can of worms punishing a person for doing something whilst essentially "a child"

2/.What is the age of criminal responsibility in this country? 10?
3/. This whole law and the ability to remove previous social media comments does need to be looked at.
Not just for footballers I might add, many professionals are having their social media posts checked.
Think before you post. I wish I did.

Think the people here who should be flogged are those that work at these clubs looking after these idiots and don't tell them to either clear their whole social media history when signing a contract or don't make them get a new "official" one.

Typical FA to sneak this appalling decision out while most fans are more concerned about the National team.

Holgate looks a bit of a troubled young man - body language-wise.
