Turf Moor 4-1 Etihad

Post by Claretforshaw » Sat Jan 06, 2018 9:30 pm

Doesn't going to a place like the Etihad make you glad we have Turf Moor. Thank goodness Burnley FC chose me to support them.

Ficticous club. Owned by an oil rich gulf state. Old Man City fans, not the new plastic crop, must find their soulless club a revolting spectre.

Fun? I thought football was a serious business not to be enjoyed, at least not all of the time !

it's like torture supporting the clarets, but it's still better than supporting a club that has all the money in the world

For a new stadium i dont mind it aesthetically or acoustically.

The rest of the 'experience' is sickening though.

Etihad is an awful football stadium. Looks pretty, it's 'nice', organised and got more facilities than I care to mention, etc, but it just doesn't feel right. Happy, clappy shiny shi-te football. Give me Maine Road and The Turf any day.

The WiFi in the stadium is top class tho.......when you can’t see what’s happening cos you’re at the back of the top tier you can watch Sky Sports! :D

The one positive is the conversion job they did from the athletics stadium - no vast expanses from stands to pitch. Not much else to like - I've not even given player ratings because I was that far away that it could have been mistaken identity. And wtf is "Dog Pound and Chips £25" when it's at home?

Its a very modern, lavishly equipped football stadium.

its good fun to visit, and the facilities are top notch but it didn't feel, well, "right".

I had so much fun. Scoring first and losing 4-1 is much more fun to a Burnley fan than it is to a City fan. That tension release when Barnes scored just paid for the whole day.

And to see how fired up we made the city fans round us. They turned round on the bottom tier for each goal just because they wanted to beat us so badly. I hope we made it a good game for them too

I was at the back of the top tier and thought the view was superb.

We were very curious on this as well and found out it was 4 hot dogs and 4 portions of chips for £25

Excellent modern stadium.

Turf Moor is a real football ground on its original site and in town. It has more meaning.

Is this going to be our new 'thing'.

Previous (losing) seasons in the Premier League had Clarets claiming the Premier League is rubbish compared to the Championship which is more competitive. Now you're trying to tell me having far less money than the world's richest is better?
Now don't get me wrong, I love my club and everything it represents, but I also didn't think I would be able to enjoy defensive football the way I have in the last couple of years.

I'd rather have ambitions of grandeur, soul, tradition, and a connection to the club than support a state owned plaything?

Oh I agree. But at some point, times will change and some of that obvious tradition wont be as obvious.
We stuck with a training ground which was state of the art in the 1960's and ended up as one of the worst in the football league, that has been addressed, but we can't keep stands that are getting old because it represents 'tradition'.

In time Turf Moor WILL change, we just have to hope it doesn't take too much away, but it very well might.
We all love that we are doing so well having being run the way we have, but I'm pretty sure City fans aren't complaining at the moment.

Agreed, but we can afford that with the premier league money if we continue to build on our previous successes and spend the money sensibly, without becoming a countries' dolly bird.
