Re: Your Favourite Wine?
Just arrived home from the Jalon Valley in the Costa Blanca area of Spain. Have been supping the local vino blanco, bought direct from the crusher.
It weighs in at around 5.85euro for 4 ltrs and is dry and around 12%.
The winery there does rose, red, white and local liquor and his dirt cheap, as are the local bars and restaurants

Re: Your Favourite Wine?
For white wine, Aldi do a very nice french Sauvignon Blanc for only £4.49 a bottle.
For red wine they also have a very good Pinot Noir on the same label (Vignobles Roussellet) for the same money.

Just having a bottle of this at the moment

Re: Your Favourite Wine?
Depends what you're eating but I reckon Hirondelle has never been beaten (although Blue Nun ran it close obviously).
More seriously, in terms of varietals, I like Malbec, Carmenere, Tempranillo - defo more partial to reds.

Play safe if you like red and try some of the wines from the Puglia region in Italy. Most supermarkets do several. Lidl have one for £4.99 and its great value-almost a dark brown colour. Really well priced and affordable range of wines

Faustino Gran Reserva when I can buy it for less than 16 quid a pop. Failing that - Campo Viejo Rioja is always decent and good value for supermarket Rioja.

Blackberry or elderberry wine created in a port style by myself.

Has to be red as well. I can drink white wine if I have too ( ) but don't really like it at all. I can stomach a bad red wine but a good white wine has to be very good imo.

Re: Your Favourite Wine?
I very rarely spend over £7 on a bottle, so obviously I've drunk some pretty drab stuff in my time but Wirau Cove is decent and comes in on budget.
Is it just me, or are 90% of 'House' wines from independently owned Italian restaurants bordering on illegal (foul)?

You can’t go wrong with an Amarone or Barolo but they’re more of a treat as they come at a price. For a more regular tipple I enjoy Marques Los Rios Rioja (Morrisons), Campo Viejo Rioja and Burdizzo Chianti (Asda) - all around the £6-£7 mark.

Re: Your Favourite Wine?
I went on an english vineyard tour earlier this year and was fascinated with the wine story re England which in the main stemmed rom Europe. The wine tasting was very interesting and the owner said we cannot compete on reds due to sunlight etc but whites we really do well with. This was my favourite.

Pricey but what a drink. When we exit the EU such wines will become so much cheaper as the policy at the moment is to punish wine with tax that is not created in mainland Europe according to the owner.

Don't have a particular favourite.I'm not a wine snob.
Just a nice fruity red merlot for about £5.
Although I don't do Italian.
Recently I have been enjoying either a Blossom Hill which are 2 for £8 at my local shop,or a nice Chilean Red from Tesco at £4.25.
