Bardsley's last game...please.
Please let this game be an end to him. He's a bloody liability.
A red card waiting to happen. Forgot to tackle Sakho. Pathetic crosses.
Gash.

How many times did he ruin a good attack with woeful balls in the box?

Hes been decent. And is a solid backup. Lowton is a better player. But Bardsley hadnt played badly until today and Lowtons first game back was his worse game for us,

It seems like several players weren't at the races in a game I expected at least a draw

I maintain that Bardsley wasn’t as bad a signing as his fellow Potteries pensioner (you know, the big lad who waddles about occasionally), bad but not that bad.

Re: Bardsley's last game...please.
He's never offered anything of note going forward. He's always been a card/free kick waiting to happen, however he's in on loyalty and harmony alone at the minute.
Today we could have played dreadful, toothless and totally below par and got a draw. His involvement alone made that draw impossible. Defensively and offensively a liability.... again

Re: Bardsley's last game...please.
Bardsley has done well in the main but last few appearances his use of the ball has been poor and today he gave away far too many unnecessary fouls. Also think that JBG looked for him and a simple pass inside far too often - Lowton will make a more naturally dynamic partnership down there.
Re: Bardsley's last game...please.
Lowton has to come back in for me.

I think SD has handled RB well. Bardsley was outstanding in the earlier games. Today as his form has dropped he would have known a poor performance would see him dropped, so no excuses for the irrational bit to his game. If ML gets vote next week there can be no ill feeling

Re: Bardsley's last game...please.
This is the player I was worried we signed in the summer. He flies into challenges at 100mph when there's no need, puts his hands all over the opposition and gives them an excuse to fall to the floor and he's always got this demented look on his face like he's about to lay nut on the referee. His positioning for the goal was woeful then he backed off and backed off. Crossing was even worse.
It's strange because he's been largely good during his run in the team, I just think that run has to end after that show today. Sako had him on toast.

Re: Bardsley's last game...please.
Bardsley had a poor game, BUT - he was left exposed one on one and sometimes two against one on far too many occasions today.
Hodgson has excellent pacey wide players and exposed Bardsley's weakness but we did nothing tactically to shore up that side of the defence.

Bardsley and Hendrick BOTH SHOULD BE DROPPED
Or at least put Defour behind the one striker up front and drop Hendrick back into the centre of midfield

Re: Bardsley's last game...please.
Very solid back up, but Lowton is a more refined all round option for me and i think all our midfield and forward options, but especially Hendrick and JBG, are missing his quality on the ball as well as the overlapping runs he makes in attack.
I thought he was weak for the goal but MOTD has just highlighted that Defour in particular was also weak, so it isn't right to just pick out Bardsley.

Poor game today, no doubt about that, but he's mostly played well since he's been in the team.
Not the only one to have a poor game today, not by any means.

Just watched MOTD.
Out of interest why is only Bardsley who people claim is a tackle away from a booking and not say the same about Tarks?

Some players are untouchable with some fans.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want him suspended but if somebody feels the need to single out one player, then let's have some balance.

Not seen MOTD yet. It was some way from us but I thought Defour could have been getting a red. Also thought the same in the home game against Liverpool when he took a wild kick at Emre Can.Juan Tanamera wrote:And although it wasn't shown on MOTD, shouldn't Defour have seen red?

But there is no balance - as we've seen with Bardsley & Hendrick being targeted. I'd agree they were our worst two players today but JBG & Vokes I thought were also bloody awful and the two in centre midfield weren't very good either. Mee & Taylor for me the only two to escape too much criticism.

It seems we're not allowed a poor run of form.
Maybe Dyche and the team have raised the bar too high too soon.
Some of the moaners should give their collective heads a wobble, they're beginning to sound like Chelsea fans.

Lowton hasn't played as badly as that for a long time, so it's only fair to get him back in on Saturday.

To be fair to Bardsley i think he's played well up until now and deserved to keep his place. Time for Lowton to come back in though now

Defours wild kick at Can led to the needless free kick converted to gift the Scousers the 3 points. That said hes still our most gifted player in the last 10yrs.
The covering of our full backs was woeful.JBG had his worse game in a Burnley shirt. But then did so did half the team yesterday.

I'm afraid to say that it was Bardsley that fouled Can, so it rather defeats your argument.Woodleyclaret wrote:Defours wild kick at Can led to the needless free kick converted to gift the Scousers the 3 points.
Your 2nd point about Bardsley being given no cover yesterday is absolutely correct, and one that I made earlier in the thread. He was left exposed against Sako or Zaha - (or both) - on far too many occasions, and most fullbacks would struggle against those 2 with no support.

Re: Bardsley's last game...please.
We are in a fantastic league position and apart from yesterday we’ve only lost to top teams.
It does ,however, feel a bit like Hull a few years ago- time for a bit of a shake Up. Not major surgery but Lawton must return
I like Hendrick but he isn’t involved enough in behind the striker. What about Hendrick wide or GK with Barnes central but behind Vokes
no crisis but most certainly time to tinker

Re: Bardsley's last game...please.
I think that piece of shambolic defending might cost him his place in the side. Utterley pointless challenge and one that I doubt anyone else in our squad would have made. He’s had a number of good games against us but has been poor recently. When all of our games are such closely fought encounters I’d rather have a reliable Lowton than a rash Bardsley.

Funny how other managers and teams/players and fans can see he's a weakness /liability yet sd can't, he's had one decent game imo, can't quite remember who against but I remember at the time commenting that he had, please get him back on the bench.
