Very pleased with this. Every 'window' we have aimed to improve the quality of the squad and this certainly does. Welcome to Burnley Aaron.

Re: Aaron Lennon
We have fans screaming, yes screaming, for some pace and creativity to maximise the threat of vokes, Barnes and wood, Lennon has shown he has it in spades.
Anyone, ANYONE, not welcoming Aaron here wants ******* with a rusty nail. He’s been there, done it, and still has it.
Great signing.
Hope it comes off, and if it does, WELCOME TO BURNLEY AARON.

Shows how far we’ve come that our wide options are now Lennon, Brady (when fit), JBG and N’koudou.

Thankfully, it doesn't matter how people pronounce his name, it's the same spelling on here.

Not really, as when Brady is back Nkoudou will be back at Spurs.Rileybobs wrote:Shows how far we’ve come that our wide options are now Lennon, Brady (when fit), JBG and N’koudou.
Sorry couldn't resist.
Although we will have a 4th winger next season, whether that's Scotty Arf or another who knows.

Well pleased with this signing.
Edit - I have likened him to a spinning top in a tea tray before but now he is OUR spinning top and will add some much needed pace and unpredictability.

Happy with this. He seems like just the sort of player Dyche could reinvigorate. I think once he's settled in and got up to speed with the way we play, he'll be a really handy player for us.

Trying to think of signings in my lifetime who an average guy on the street might have heard of.
Maybe put Cork, Walters, Brady & Westwood in that list if they were regular MOTD watchers over the last few years.

Re: Aaron Lennon
An exciting signing on the face of it.
Let's hope that he still has a lot to offer.
I keep reading about how he grafts and how he always puts a shift in from the Everton fan side, which is nice.

I agree, although if Scotty Arf was 4th choice I wouldn't mind. He'd barely get half a dozen starts at 4th choice.FactualFrank wrote:I think we'll try and upgrade Arfield and have Brady, Lennon, JBG and A.Nother.
I'd certainly take a new CB or number 10, and have Scotty Arf as 4th choice winger if made to choose.

Has been a very good PL player for a long number of years, I confess to not knowing how he has done at Everton but his pedigree is without question.
He is quite clearly a step up from what else we have out wide. Good signing.

Re: Aaron Lennon
Yes PB this could let us try JBG in the hole. I hope so, as I think he has what it takes and it could save us £20m or so. I also think Brady could play there.
However, neither are likely to get the 10 goals a season that should come a proper nr 10.
Good news all round anyway.

I don’t want to put a downer on this signing, but SD often speaks about players fitting in and core values, the new signing should fit in and understand the ethos and structure of the group,
Arron Lennon doesn’t strike me as that type, I don’t think we could sell him on in a few years time for a profit, I haven’t seen him exactly setting Goodson on fire, I’m sorry but along with N WELLS, I think this could turn out to be a poor signing

Proper chuffed with this signing and shows how far we have come as a club. I also feel it is a much better deal for us to get Lennon than it is for Everton to spend 20mil on Walcott (1 good game in 10?)

Clearly an attempt to get pace in and help with the firepower however he will be coached to get back as well as not instead of.
Sir Sean will facilitate his thinking capabilities and get him thinking about function, being and will.
Will tesurrect his career a treat.
Wells will come good too.

After Bins ITK post the other night I was secretly hoping Kate Beckinsale would be our next addition. Madge has done well for us, but Kate would be a significant upgrade. Very happy to welcome Lennon to the club though, we definitely needed another winger and he will do nicely.

I actually think SD Is a great manager, but every so often he lets himself down bye buying complete dross or unproven players who just aren't good enough
lifelongclaret wrote:I had a discussion with a member of staff at Turf moor when we first signed NW, I actually begged him to stop the signing and said in my humble opinion it’s a panic buy and he’s injured , he said it may turn out to be a steal and a good signing , TBH .. I hope he gets loaned out , but only to rebuild his confidence and maybe get match fit, yesterday although it was a cameo appearance I thought his body language was awful and he look disintresteted , I think he was down the pecking order behind Barnes and Vokes and maybe even Walters,
But look at the league table and all is not lost.. in SD we trust..

He's certainly what we need. The only worry for me is consistency. That said, SD has shown that he can get the best out of players. If he can get the best out of Lennon, we've got a cracking player.

Re: Aaron Lennon
Tony ,
Football is all about opinions , some players come along and fit right in, they perform and put in a half decent shift, other players take a while and eventually turn out to be wonderful signings, but I think SD has signed a few poor ones, along with a couple of real gems, I just don’t see NW As a great astute signing, I cannot see him making it as a premier player , maybe a few season back, but not now,
This proposed signing of Lennon seems odd, I would much prefer a young signing , not somebody who has flopped , I’m not bothered about his mental health problems ( I also had a breakdown and considered taking my own life).. i just don’t think this type of player fits in with what we are building at Burnley,

I'm happy with this signing providing he still has pace to burn, I haven't seen him play for a while so I wouldn't know but I'll trust the club have ran him through his paces.

It's an exciting signing and great to see an England International who wants to sign for Burnley. Welcome aboard Aaron we only want you to succeed and have the staff to help you do just that. Listen to the roar when you meet the home fans if you require any confirmation. Looking forward to the first assist and goal.

Is it 21 caps for England and a long Premier League career behind him? Still only 30? Not a flop for me and a huge improvement on what we have. It might not work out, Wells might not work out, but I find condemning them as poor signings without them having the opportunity to prove otherwise to be strange.lifelongclaret wrote:This proposed signing of Lennon seems odd, I would much prefer a young signing , not somebody who has flopped

Quite possibly lennon might be put in behind the striker, or Lennon on the right and Gudmundsson on the left (i believe he is left footed?)
