Pope 7
Taylor 7
Tarks 9
Mee 9
Bardsley 6
Arfield 7
Cork 8
Defour 7
JBG 7
Hendrick 6
Barnes 8
Subs All 6
No wonder we have never won when conceding first when even though we were on top Dyche seems reluctant to change or swap it around when we are just lacking that bit of creativity in the final third, subs need more time on the pitch if they are to make a real difference. Hendrick really does look like a square peg in a round hole as an attacking midfielder, it`s just not working and he looked better and more comfortable when he dropped deeper. Time to try something different Sean.

I agree.

Obviously a better fan than me, but please feel free to take it up with the others who feel the same on the Hendrick thread...

Opinions are opinions. You think he's been playing like Messi, I think he's been playing like Billy Kee.

Let's not exchange insults over opinions please

Not sure what 'better fan' has got to do with owt.

On the other thread most acknowledge he was better yesterday.

Some recognise he was decent first half whereas you said he was shocking first half.

I don't think he's playing anything like Messi.

I actually think he has underperformed too often.

And some of the negative comments in recent weeks have been fair.

Yours though yesterday along with a rating of 4 aren't.

I think today we have to remember who we were playing and mark our players accordingly. For long periods of this match we dominated Man Utd and took the game to them. We were undoubtedly worth a point. Let's just think about that. We're talking about one of the most expensively assembled group of players on the planet who are currently 2nd in the Prem. For sure none of our players left anything out on the pitch and worked their socks off.

Pope 7 Not much to do TBH.
Taylor 7 He's growing into this position and seems more confident to get forward. He has all the physical attributes to be an excellent LB.
Tarks 9 The best CB on the pitch by far and so unlucky not to get a goal when JBG fizzed that cross in 2nd half.
Mee 8 Perhaps fouled for their goal but another solid game from Sir Benjamin.
Bardsley 6 He loses one point for the yellow card. He had absolutely nothing left in his tank 2nd half and Utd knew that. Dyche must have seen it too so why didn't he bring on Lowton?
Arfield 7 Good display from Scotty. There is a newly found confidence about him at the moment.
Cork 7 Getting back to his best.
Defour 8 Playing with a lot of passion and loads of skill.
JBG 8 Always a danger and developing into an excellent winger.
Hendrick 7 Jeff has come in for some stick recently but you couldn't fault him today.
Barnes 7 Stuck to his task well and was repeatedly fouled by Smalling. Dean just laughed at this though because he goes down so often.

The new lad from Spurs wasn't on long enough but looked sharp, tricky and motivated. Should have had 10 minutes more.

Dyche 5 Maybe I'm being harsh but I felt that he didn't get his subs right today. Bardsley should have been off around the 65th minute mark to tighten up the right side of the defence when he was clearly knackered and Utd were breaking at pace. The lad from Spurs should have been given at least 15 minutes when we were chasing the game.

All in all a very good performance from the Clarets and it shows have far we have come to be able to put on a display like that against such a powerful team.

Hendrick plays better when he drops deep, imo he is not a player who likes playing the hole behind the striker.

But what Hendrick gives us is a player who can drop deep and put a foot in, something I don't think the likes of Wells would be comfortable doing

Another excellent game.

Time to reflect on performances rather than results. Despite the few points since Xmas eve, the quality of our performances, compared to 12 months ago, leaves so much to be proud of. We've gone toe to toe twice with Utd, Liverpool, City and really tried to stamp our presence into the game. No longer sitting back and trying to hit them on the break. We've come a long way in a very short time, and if we continue to steadily progress we can establish ourselves in the prem for a long time.

A very, very proud Claret

I don't think their keeper touched the ball in the 2nd half. We were hardly laying seige on their area and goal.

When we are in front towards the last 10-15 minutes it feels like we are under constant threat with a few heart in the mouth moments, however today IMO it looked as though we could still be playing and still not scored.

I expected a cup style grandstand finish, but the game just drifted away again.

Maybe the style of football has just worn me down over the past dozen games. It's hardly edge of your seat stuff.

I thought we were on about Hendrick.

Apart from the result of course I thought yesterday was enjoyable - at no point was I fed up with what I was watching.

I wasn't fed up, but I didn't particularly it either.
Football is changing for me, and I don't no whether that's the premier league that's doing it or not.

Away games are better, because you expect nothing and the day out is part of the experience.

Regarding Hendrick I still think he had a poor game. ( 4 is poor ) I don't think I'm alone in believing he was in the bottom few regarding performance, and I think the ratings will show that too.

The ratings show most people rated him 6 or 7. Only one person rated him 4 - you. The ratings show he wasn't poor.

We deserved a point today . Taylor played well considering the opposition . Give 7 for the team performance plenty of effort . Hope Wood returns soon as no end product from Barns and Arfield .

Someone rated Defour average with a 6, are they wrong also? Is that option allowed to stand. 2 full marks below what I thought.

Next game I promise too score them a couple of marks higher than I think so it can be a correct opinion .

Edit - Do you bother to rate players yoursrlf or just pick apart other proples opinion?

Or didn't you attend?

Bardsley up to 6
Defour down to 7

Yes I did attend because I have a season ticket.

I usually do ratings as soon as I'm back unless I'm rushing around to go out which I was yesterday evening.

Were you scratting around for a dodgy stream as usual yesterday?

Enjoyed all but the end result. Frustrating, but we have made another big step forwards this season where as a supporter I'm not now just expecting the 'big boys' to turn up and turn us over. Opposition Manager comments over the last few weeks also indicate that we are taken seriously and that if the top 6 are to beat us it will not be without a battle. Hoping that once Man City at home is out of the way we can get back accumulating some more points to try and secure what would be an amazing top ten finish.

Just because you're richer than me , doesn't mean you should look down on me or try to use my situation as a stick to beat me with.

I thought we deserved a point. We were always in the game, but got caught out by Martial's quality finish.
DeGea didn't have to make a meaningful save, however, we did have chances. A few inches difference between Martial's and JBG efforts - small margins.
I thought SD could have made changes earlier, although I understand the need to settle after just conceding.
Man U delighted with a 1:0 which does say just how far we have come this season. (and the brand of football Mourinho plays??)
We do need some injured players back and to register a first win of 2018 - hopefully at Newcastle.

Pope 8 - assured with a very good save second half. Kicking also improved - no chance with the goal.
Bardsley 7 - I thought he was better today, but struggles to close down at times - could he have done better for the goal??
Taylor 8 - Good effort - growing into this role
Mee 8 - Strong performance, dealt very well with their physical threat
Tarkowski 8 - see Mee
Cork 7 - better by JC today - does a lot of the dirty work very well
Defour 7 - a bit down on his possession and passing today - always provides quality and vision
Arfield 7 - a good effort by Scotty - over elaborate at times trying to find a perfect final ball
Hendrick 7 - see Arfield - did better in a deeper role
Gudmundsson 8 - posed our biggest threat - unlucky with the free kick and the ball across the goal
Barnes 8 - massive effort against Smalling and Jones - never had a clear chance, but put in a great shift, as ever.

We could hold a raffle for playing up front, and whoever won would put in as much of a shift as Barnes.

Be as much use as well.

Putting in a shift means jack if you're sh*t.

Pope 6 not much to do. Claimed one cross well and kicking was much improved, but sold himself massively for the goal
Bardsley 6 didn't think he was too bad, but could have defended the goal better
Mee 7 Generally handled Lukaku well, but bullied for the goal. Some great blocks later on.
Tarkowski 7 handled Lukaku well
Taylor 7 given licence to roam with Mata playing so narrow. Did ok.
Gudmundsson 7 bright as ever, if only he'd have got some power behind that first half shot
Cork 7 back to it
Defour 8 as good as anyone on the park
Hendrick 7 good game from him. The groan which went up when he made one misplaced pass was pathetic from the crowd. He had 2nd best pass completion rate behind Cork.
Arfield 7 busy game from him
Barnes 5 gave ball away for the goal, and didn't get a sniff against Smalling all day. Poor game from him.

Overall, an enjoyable game where we held our own, but we are toothless up front and we need to address that.

I'm just going to give the whole team 8.5 points for a really terrific performance against the 2nd placed team. Some great performances. UTC!
