Pope - 8 - Kicking seemed better and judgement seems to have improved. Experience is everything

Taylor - 7 - Learning every game
Mee - 9 - Brilliant blocks and great leadership
Tarkowski- 9 - Such calm defending and never looked worried too much. Becoming a great PL defender
Bardsley - 8 - A lot better this week

JBG - 9* - Loads of energy and just got my MOTM vote ahead of the CBs. Would be a great No. 10 imo
Cork - 8 - Best game in weeks. Looked more comfortable on the ball
Defour - 9 - Controlled the game more so than any Utd player in my opinion
Hendrick - 8 - Great to see him play well today. Clever passes and tidy play
Arfield- 8 - Carried the ball well

Barnes - 7 - Wasn’t his most effective game but tried really hard

I thought we outplayed Man Utd today and that’s me trying not to be bias. We kept the ball so well and played some clever passes. However, we had our chances and we just couldn’t get the ball in the net. Second best performance after Chelsea imo. If we play like that every week then we will get 7th. UTC

I think I'm marking quite low considering the opposition BUT we nearly beat them at their place

Pope - 8 - one outstanding save

Taylor - 8 - got forward far more than previously

Mee - 8* - Solid throughout

Tarkowski- 8 - as Mee

Bardsley - 5 - poor challenges, another booking, poor passing, could have done better with the goal

JBG - 7 - decent game without too many threats

Cork - 6 - some good moments but looks very tired and often gave up the chase

Defour - 7 - some good some bad, stupid booking

Hendrick - 7 - a big improvement

Arfield- 8 - creative and combative

Barnes - 7 - not much help from Mr Dean but good effort

Subs - on far too late but we deserved a point

Pope 7 2 efforts on goal, one top corner, the other forced a great stop, kept us in it
Taylor 7 Did well, composed, kept them quiet-ish
Mee 7 Some great moments ( the block ) some not so great, diving in on Lukaku and caught out of position a few times
Tarky 7 Did well, limited them to next to nothing
Bardsley 5 Poor at the back, poor going forward, token booking

JBG 7 very positive
Cork 7 a lot better than previous weeks, glad to see him back on form
Defour 8 looked very good, and wouldn't have looked out pf place if he had played in grey today
Arfield 8 came in side time after time, linked superbly, a few nearly balls too. ALWAYS showed, Think he could play number 10.

Hedrick 4 getting better, but cannot think of 1 moment of good play ( what I couldn't have done ) either defensively or in the final 3rd. Everything he did seemed the wrong option or badly executed

Barnes 6 Won us some free kicks, but was always going to struggle today v the 2 big lads at CB. Didn't cause them any problems at all. Though he should have done better with the header late on also

Mr Dyche well, what were them subs all about? Far too late, and Giving Wells 5 minutes when chasing the game was a little strange. Said it last week, but if their isnt a change of personnel next game expect the same preformance/result. We didnt work De Gea once, he could use that strip and gloves again next week. Struggling to see the plan at the minute. Seems it's go for 0-0 and hope to get lucky with either sa set play or a moment of magic.
Only problem is when the inevitable happens we have no clue how to adapt our approach, and cahnge the outcome

Pope 7
Taylor 6 Got forward but no purpose but he is growing into the role.
Mee 6 At fault for goal but did make a few blocks
Tarkowski 6 Needs to work at his positing but solid followed the ball for the goal. Should he have done better with his chance.
Bardsley 6 Solid game could he have done better with the goal ?
JBG 7 one super cross when he finally got behind United. Needs to trust the outside more
Cork 6 Looked lightweight but harried and pressed without really impressing on the game.
Defour 6 One great ball like him in the right hand pocket when he drives forward.
Hendrick 6 Thought there was plenty of effort but lacked quality Gave the ball away on simple passes at times looked better when deeper.
Arfield 8 Takes up some great positions in the pockets and used the ball well, he through balls did not get through today but good quality and effort
Barnes 6 Great effort but poor quality today from him. I think you can nearly read Barnes within 15 minutes if it his day or not.

Late onslaught aside it was a 100 per cent effort day but we lacked a bit of quality going forward i though, great effort mind against some great players.

No idea where someone has plucked an 8 for Bardsley from. The very clear weak link in what was ultimately a very good performance from us today. Just lacked a cutting edge up top. Think we’ve enough points in the bag to leave that until summer and hope Wood is fit soon.

Gutted we didn’t get at least a point today but a couple of wins are just around the corner.

Pope 7- not tested too often but very commanding when called upon
Bardsley 5- did ok for large portions of the match but a couple of really poor challenges and didn't cover himself in glory for their goal either.
Tarkowski 8 - fantastic today. Great blocks and distribution. Would have been a 9 but he really need a to start scoring some of these free headers. Should be on at least 3 goals this season.
Mee 8 - very good a couple of excellent blocks and used the ball pretty well. Fouled by Lukaku when challenging for the header for their first
Taylor 8- played very well perhaps needs to show a little more guile in his attacking play (he always just want a to run in a straight line to the by line and try and cross the ball in). Whilst it works sometimes it's very predictable and can be easy to defend against.
Gudmundson 7- very involved and asked questions of Young consistently. Very unfortunate with the free kick.
Defour 8- got the better of Pogba for me. Dominated the game.
Cork 8- much better for me. He is fairly light weight but his fitness and use of the ball makes up for it.
Hendrick 7- should have done much better whilst breaking in the second half but otherwise I thought he played well.
Arfield 7- some clever pieces of movement but the final ball wasn't quite there.
Barnes 7- a nuisance all game but didn't really look like scoring. Vokes should have come on 5 minutes earlier.

Unfortunate today. Very go performance and should have had a point at least.

I thought he was garbage today, and as said on the other thread, I saw nothing that showed him to be a 13m premier league footballer, never mind a number 10.

He did either the simple/easy option ( after looking all flusted and panicking ) or gave the ball away/took the wrong option. Watch the first half again, I wouldn't have been shocked should he have not come out 2nd half.

Would it not make it easier if you just told us what to rate players every week? Because I thought this thread was opinion based?

Pope - 7 one very good save, beaten by a class finish for the goal

Bardsley - 7 decent enough. Weird how he pushes right forward but infield when we attack, leaves us exposed a bit

Tarkowski - 9 immense, nullified lukaku and shouldctrally have had a couple of goals

Mee - 9 right up there with big Jim, clearly fouled for the goal

Taylor - 8 defensively the best I've seen him, too often left isolated on the left when we attack

Cork - 8 took pogba down a peg or two and was a key part of a dynamic 3 man midfield

Defour - 9 the smallest man in midfield today ran it. Superb in both games against United this season and wouldn't look out of place playing for them.

Hendrick - 7 far better playing further back with the play in front of him, second half especially he was very good today

Arfield - 7 typical arfield performance

Gudmundsson - 8 again a huge threat for us, his cross fizzed across the face of goal was begging for a toe on it

Barnes - 6 one of our problems going forward is the lavk of movement in front of the midfielders and it was evident again today. It's not entirely Barnes' fault as he's there on his own so it's easy to mark him but we lose the ball fairly often in good positions because there are few options for the pass.

Very frustrating day as we were well worth the point, we've more than matched the second placed team in the league and only another abysmal refereeing decision has cost us.

It's a great finish from martial but play should never have got that far. If we're going to have VAR in future we need to have challenges so that errors like that can be fixed.

Just need a bit more of a cutting edge but we're a fine team now at this level. Looking forward to Lennon getting involved.

Yes it is about opinions but Hendrick had a good game today (other than the last 10 mins he was on the pitch).

I think that whatever he does you have made your mind up about him.......4 is a ridiculous score IMHO

Despite losing, I thought we were excellent today and United look distinctly average. On that basis I’m giving everyone an 8 except Tarkowski who was a 9.

Some have give him 5's and 6's only a 1 or 2 rating over me.
I gave Defour an 8 a long with a few others, someone gave him a 6, 2 points lower than me, am I giving them grief that they dont agree with me?
No.

I thought he had a poor game, 4 rating signals a poor game.

Can't think of anything he did that was "good" which is a 7.

We urgently need penetration and movement in the final third, JGB needs help on the other flank and hopefully Lennon will provide this. If Wood is going to be out for a while we need to considerbringing in another forward. Barnes, although hardworking, doesn't offer anywhere near enough quality for me.

A 4 for Hendrick?

Some neat football from him today and much improved. One really bad pass that put us under pressure, but that aside he was very good.

That was a solid 7, pushing 8 out of 10 against a really strong team.

A 4 rating is truly bizarre.

Pope 7
Bardsley 6 (thought he did some good things defensively especially first half but does seem to react slowly in crucial situations)
Taylor 8
Mee 8
Tarkowski 8
Cork 7 (Much much better today than recent weeks)
Defour 8
Hendrick 7
JBG 8
Arfield 8
Barnes 6 (Won us a lot of free kicks, but I remain convinced his attacking movement hampers us at this level)

A good performance worthy of a draw. Yes we lacked that killer edge but we did create a number of opportunities. Their chances came on the break when the game was stretched.

Taylor 8. Best game I have seen him play. Solid at the back and dangerous going forward
Tarks 9. Solid
Mee 9 solid
Bardsley 7. A few mistakes but dealt with their threats well
Arfield 7. Best game in some time
Cork 8. Ran the show with Defour
Defour 9 ran the show with cork
JBG 7.
Hendrick 6 best game in weeks

The only difference between us is that they would have got the foul in the lead up to the goal, but to be fair to Dean he was letting a lot of those sorts of challenges go. But Pogba should have been sent off, and its daft not to give him a yellow card for the tug back followed by the boot after the whistle.

Pleased with how we played, and we are a good side at this level.

Anyone giving Hendrick a 4 is smacked off their tits to be perfectly honest, as he did one bad pass all afternoon.

Pope 8 only needed for 1 save though cracker
Bardsley 7 better than normal and handles Martial well
Tarks 8 great all round
Mee 8 also v good from BM today one great tackle in box
Taylor 8 best game for Burnley and got forward wekk
Defour 9 MOM for me all over the pitch and some sweet balls (not his testicles)
Cork 8-much better and though he played v well when doing Hendricks job
Hendrick 6 Bit better than of late and lots of effort but offers little
JBG 7 good 1st half and improves all the time
Arfield 7 typical Scotty did his thing
Barnes 6 Lots of effort and a few free kicks

Subs Nkoudo cameo but class act and I hope SD starts him against Newcastle,he oozes quality

Best ive seen us play and lose and against a superstar line up ,v unlucky to come away with nothing

I thought Cork was MoM today. Did a lot of the dirty stuff, and allowed Defour to play. His best game for some time. Same with Hendrick, I think he was playing a bit deeper, although still needs to improve his decision making in the final third.

Pope - 7 - very much in command and one very good save
Bardsley - 7 - thought he did a solid enough job
Mee - 9 - some incredible contributions, MOM
Tarks - 8 - some classy movement and outstanding defending
Taylor 7 - very solid, don't understand why he went outside when going forward rather than cutting inside
JBG - 8 - looked a real threat
Defour - - such neat play, the best midfielder on the pitch?
Cork - 7 - getting back to his best
Hendrick - 7 - so much better than the last few games
Arfield - 8 - thought this was one of his best games for us this season
Barnes - 7 - held the ball up well and won the usual free kicks

Deserved more than we got, but worth reminding ourselves that this was Manchester United wasting time and throwing on big players to play out the game for 1-0.

Even my daughter who is a major Hendrick fan said he had the best and worst game today. Some things came off well and some went spectacularly wrong.
Some people only see the bad things and remember them.

I thought we did really well against what was Man Utd ffs.

Pope 7 (nowt to do)
Bardsley 7 (excellent first half, but poor second, feel for Lowton, thought he’d play today)
Tarkowski 9 (excellent display)
Mee 8
Taylor 8 (uses the ball really well, possibly could have been more adventurous on a couple of occasions)
Defour 8 (great dual with Pog)
Cork 7
Hendrick 7 (would have been 8 but for a couple of errant passes in second half, great movement picking up pockets of space, gave us options)
Gudmundsson 7
Arfield 7 (good but wish he’d get more shots off)
Barnes 8 (tireless)

Liked the look of all subs, would have liked to see them on earlier

A frustrating afternoon, one where I probably deep down didn’t believe we would win the game and I didn’t feel fully up for it as a result. To a degree, it felt like Dyche and the players felt the same. They gave 100% but didn’t seem to have that confidence to raise it up a notch and take United on, until the final few minutes. It felt to me that a slightly braver approach in moving to 4-4-2 at 70 mins not 82 mins, may have led to a better result. After all, we despite our efforts we hadn’t mustered much up to that point and United were hardly too ambitious in pushing for a second. Nkoudou’s stepover and free kick showed what we were missing, even if he does struggle in our half.

Hendrick epitomises it (I only mention him because of the continual debate over his role). It isn’t so much what he does wrong, it is more what he doesn’t do, which isn’t his fault, it is that the role demands a more creative player (at least, my interpretation of that role, maybe not Dyches’). Today, he played one key pass, whereas Taylor played two from LB, and Cork and Defour both one. It means we struggle to create from the centre, and we already struggle to create from the right (virtually all chances today were created from the left). In truth we had one player starting today who would ever be labelled creative.

Saying all that though, this all goes to show how far we have come, with (usually) the rub of the green the big 6 get with the refs being the difference when we play them. We look to be in a fight for 7th and Europe with Leicester, the best two other teams in the Division, the home game is going to be vital, the big clubs will soon be out of the way (virtually) and in general, if we are brave we have a good chance to do it.

Pope 7- Didn't have a great deal to do but was effective.
Bardsley 7-Part of solid back 4, played well.
Tarkowski 9-Excellent
Mee 9- A bit concerned when he got booked in first half but a born leader.
Taylor 7-Certainly developing. I'd like him to get better quality crosses over.
Gudmundsson 7-Felt more comfortable when he switched to the left side late on.
Defour 9*-Another brilliant display. He has the composure that one of two of the others are certainly lacking.
Cork 7-Better than in recent weeks but I still feel he has a lot more to offer.
Arfield 6-He really frustrates me. All his good work is undone by poor distribution.
Hendrick 6-Sorry for banging the same old drum but this guy is playing out of position for me.
Barnes 8-Thought he played well but let down by overdoing the theatricals at times.

We are certainly going through a sticky patch at present. Just what I expected. I was very pleased with the overall performance and felt we could have quite easily got something out of the game. GKN looked really good in his brief cameo and I can't understand why he wasn't introduced earlier.

Claretspice will note I have given Hendrick a decent mark because without pulling up any trees I thought he was, well, decent today. Yes he gave the ball away sometimes and he didn't see all the options at times, but he isn't the only one tbf. Overall, no way did we deserve to lose that game and we played well , matched a very expensive outfit and in many positions man for man had the better player. Was their goal, which was totally out of the blue preventable? I don't know, I've only seen it the once live, but them taking all 3 points was a travesty. I am however concerned about how long it is since we last won and we need to get out of this rut. Oh and like everyone else I thought the subs should have been on earlier bearing in mind we had gone behind, despite nobody doing much wrong.

Pope - 6 - Thought he might have done better with the goal, where he appeared to commit himself to going across goal and was effectively beaten at his near side, but it was a good hit and other than that, he was absolutely fine.

Bardsley - 6 - Solid defensively, but I didn't think he was great going forwards, and his booking - 15 yards inside their half, but practically in centre field just after we'd lost the ball - was indicative of some weird positions he took up in attack: we needed an option on the outside not the inside.

Taylor - 7 - Needs to believe in himself a bit more when he gets the ball, but he's getting there, and he's looking more and more at home defensively.

Mee - 7 - Thought he committed himself a bit for the goal (even though it might have been a push) and that took him out of the game. Otherwise, as resilient as we've come to expect.

Tarkowski - 8 - Thought he should have done much better with a first half header, but nice and solid defensively.

Cork - 9 - Back to his best after a quiet few weeks.

Defour - 8 - Another really good performance in midfield as we bossed that area of the park for long periods.

Hendrick - 8 - Greater control behind him in midfield gave him more quality ball to get into the game, and he took his opportunity with a really strong first half performance full of positive running, good prompting but also some really good covering to allow Cork and Defour to go forwards. We saw plenty of him in the second half too, particularly surging forwards, but badly messed up one counter attack which seemed to knock his confidence a little.

JBG - 7 - Really involved and some excellent touches, but his end product wasn't quite there today, and I thought he should have done better when he flashed the ball across the 6 yard box to none of the 3 Burnley players following in. Neat free kick, although it never really looked like dropping in.

Arfield - 7 - Took up some nice positions and provided some neat touches, but there wasn't a huge amount of penetration to his game today.

Barnes - 7 - Tough gig up front, but linked up well with Hendrick and JBG in particular and can be reasonably pleased with his efforts, although he probably should have done better with the one (tough) chance that came his way with the flick header.

Subs - not on long enough, but NKoudou showed some decent touches and perhaps with hindsight he should have got another 10 minutes.

After a couple of slightly disappointing home performances, albeit against stellar opposition in Spurs and Liverpool, this was very much a day when we got back in the old mould. There weren't too many punches landed by either side in the first half, but after a slightly iffy first 6 or 7 minutes we got control of the game and didn't really relinquish it until United took the lead. With plenty of controlled possession, it must have been obvious that we were set up to play 4-3-3 in possession, with both Defour and Cork causing problems raiding forwards and Hendrick prompting as well as he has all season both as the more advanced man early in our attacks, and from deeper positions as we rotated as we built our attacks.

In the end, we probably lacked the power and pace to convert to take advantage of the promising moments we created, and the difference between the teams was that when they got the chance on 55 minutes, United had precisely that pace and power to take advantage. They might have added to their lead on the counter attack as we threw caution to the wind, but equally on another day and with a touch more precision we might have got an equaliser that, on balance, we probably deserved.

Its easy to see where Lennon fits in on this evidence, and hopefully he'll help us rectify what is becoming a chronic lack of goals, but we're really not far away and if we play this well at Newcastle, we'll take points.

Whole team were excellent. Mee man of match. Barnes gave them hell. Bardsley way out of position for their goal and Hendrick a bit off 1st half but both did well as part of a whole match team. Edit: just watched motd and Bardsley had come across to cover for Mee.
